  1. Forgive me EmmyLouWho, but I don't understand the purpose of starting this thread if you didn't want any input. Your mind was made up. What was the point?
  2. IgG is the least specific for celiac. I would definately do the biopsy. neesee
  3. I would probably go for the scope. It will give you a better overall picture of what exactly is going on inside. Which blood test was positive? TTG and or EMA are the most specific for celiac. neesee
  4. It sounds to me like you're sicker and more rundown the you want to to admit ( so like a guy). Can you afford a sick leave? You do need to take some time and get your head on straight and rest! I swear, the diet isn't that bad. I should know, I've been gluten-free for 21 years! As far as how your diagnosis was approached, I don't think anyone is prepared...
  5. Are you positively diagnosed through a small bowel biopsy and or skin biopsy? If so, then you can't just decide the gluten-free diet isn't for you at this moment. The gluten-free diet saved my life and slowly restored my health. It takes time to work. In all honesty, I would have to say it took a good three years for me to be better. I still have my...

    ARCHIVED Blood Type

That would be me. Thanks for the link. It's interesting stuff. I knew there was more involved than just to + and the -, but I haven't found a lot of information on it. FWIW, Hillary Clinton has a fairly rare blood type. Dd was working for the red cross when HC was scheduled to come to town. Her visit was delayed for a few hours so they could acquire...
  7. I'm surrounded by diabetic's, your fasting blood sugar is very good. Your celiac tests are negative. That's all I can help you with. neesee

    ARCHIVED Blood Type

O negative is the universal donor, but I'm pretty sure that AB positive is the universal recipient. neesee
  10. Just use whatever the doctor precsribes. It will be just fine. I had a colonoscopy in September and then I had a partial colectomy in October. The prep for the colectomy was the worst. My last meal was early Tuesday evening and my surgery was friday morning. And as far as having a reaction from being little, I'm 4' 10 1/2" tall. I'm very small. It didn't...

    ARCHIVED Blood Type

Hi Cat....I'm O positive. I have light brown hair (blonde as a child), blue eyes, and I'm 4'10 1/2" inches tall. I'm german (swiss) irish and english. neesee
  12. I had been unable to eat anything for a solid month before my biopsy and I still had a very positive biopsy. The cleanout won't make any difference at all. neesee
  13. You are not an idiot. With a positive biopsy, that means you do indeed have celiac. You should have been gluten-free after that biopsy was done! neesee
  14. Try your local health department for help. That's who helped me the most. They hooked me up with the GIG and sent me a lot if information about the diet. Of course that was before the internet! I really didn't learn a darn thing from the dietician anyhow. I was covered 21 years ago, but I wouldn't be now. I was in the hospital though. neesee
  15. We have a lot of snow here in mid michigan, but the most difficult thing to cope with is the cold! Last night the wind chill was -12. It seems too early for this kind of cold and snow. Dh goes out every morning and plows paths in the yard for our little poodles Little Toby is only 4.5 lbs! The little guys do seem to appreciate it. Tiffany....I loved...
  16. It's good that it doesn't bother you Peter. My dh drinks a fair amount of it too. He has type 2 diabetes. It seems to help fill him up when he has no more calories to spare. It is invalueable to a diabetic. Unfortunately, it gives me cramping and a little diarrhea. So does Splenda. neesee
  17. People with seizure disorders are not supposed to use aspertame at all for any reason. It can cause seizures. My dd dated a guy who had seizure disorder. His dr. told him absoutely no aspertame. It's really bad stuff. neesee
  18. Goofy man He washed it all up. I'm still not using it for anything except cleaning the fish tank from now on. I'm going shopping tomorrow and a nice new colander is on my list. I love this man to pieces. We've been married for 36 1/2 years now, but there is only so much I'll put up with! He needs a job. Retirement is driving me crazy. He has too...
  19. Dh has dirty aquarium gravel in mine. It stinks! He thinks I'm still going use this thing after he disinfects it! I think not! It's my grandson's aquarium. It was a clogged up mess when we found it this morning. I thought his mom was taking care of it. She's been awfully busy between working and going to college full time. I think she's just worn...

ARCHIVED Group Letter to Dr. Fine

DR5/DR7 combine to form 1 DQ2 gene. I don't see any other genes listed in the article. It says a very few celiacs don't have DQ2 or DQ8, but it doesn't list which genes they are. neesee

  22. Cake type donuts to dunk in my morning coffee
  23. I just plain don't like Lara Bars! I don't understand the hype about them. They taste bad to me. I don't waste calories on food that isn't really good. neesee
  24. I've been gluten-free for just about 21 years now, and I'm still severely lactose intolerant. I gave up hoping a long time ago. neesee
