ARCHIVED Eating Out Is Such A Pain In The Ass Now
Crystalkd replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was wondering if snickers was gluten-free! I thought it was! anyway.... I can usually do Wendy's or Chick-fil-A without a problem. I'll eat a salad from Mc D's if I have too but I always try to call ahead or talk to the manager if need be. I'm getting used to the stares. It's not my fault!!! -
ARCHIVED Gluten Stuffed Turkey. Is It Ok To Eat?
Crystalkd replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You are not crazy at all. I've been on the diet for 5 months now and the thought of the holidays comming has me feeling a bit scared. I've gotten to be so careful that I requested the my mom but gluten-free food in her house before I watch my nephews and that they eat what I cook because I always end up with some sort of problem. -
I thought this thread was going to be about dog food. LOL

ARCHIVED Im New And Need Help For My Son..
Crystalkd replied to heidi111's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I agree that there is no need to buy programs to help. I would also suggest Living gluten free for dummies. I have two copies. One I keep at home and the other pretty much stays with me. I would also pick up a gluten free cook book for him as well. It will cut down on cost some if he stays away from the processed stuff and learns to cook for himself. Make... -

I don't usually get to see the show because I'm at work but my nephew was sick so I was taking care of him. I about came up off the sofa when they said something about gluten-free. It's so hard to make people understand. To clarify Holly's comment she said that her son wa allegic to wheat so they took it out. My friend has a sister that is autistic and after... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Have A Problem With Rice?
Crystalkd replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
After going gluten-free I felt better but then got a sinus infection that I could not get rid of. The doc ran an allergey test and figured I was allergic to gluten, corn, soybeans, dogs, and all grass and mold. I also have issues with serevral other things. I have pretty much taken the corn and soybeans out as well as eggs and cut way back on the lactose... -
I had gotten good with the gluten-free stuff but right now until I get used to the new restrictions I've been eating plainly cooked meat, rice, a veggie, fruit, plain unsalted peanuts, qunioa, ect. I really need to go the store which I'll do tomorrow. I'll get used to this just like I did gluten-free but I'm finding that gluten-free was eiasier than this...

I posted this in the coping with section but didn't get anything there. I found out last week that I don't have Celiac but am allergic to gluten. I was also told I'm aleergic to corn, one point away from being allergic to soy and also react strongly to lactose and eggs. I'm also allergic to all types of grass and mold as well as many types of trees and dogs...

Crystalkd replied to Rivergirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've gotten back to traveling alot which is awesome. I went and bought a little cooler and I carry it with me. every couple of days I cook a good size meal and then portion it up in glad containers. This works very well for me since I'm single and don't want to have to cook a big meal every night. I made chicken and rice the other day. I have one container... -
I some how got glutened by a dinner I cooked and I most have gotten a pretty large amount judging by how I'm feeling. I had baked chicken with Kraft Honey BBQ sauce. Archer Farms 4 Cheese resotto and some GFP bread with butter. I'm very well aware it could be the butter since i haven't changed it since before I wasDX but I didn't think about that until after...

It's okay. This is a HARD life syle. I've been on the diet about 2 months too and started having really bad craving but I think it was because of a med that the pham told me was gluten-free but I don't think it was. One of the hardest parts for me is that I travel alot and my doc told me NOT to go out to eat at all. Some times it can't be avpided but I'm... -

Crystalkd replied to ptkds's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I ate at IHOP last night. ( I had no choice. It was the only thing around) When I was telling the waitress what I could or couldn't have she looked at me like I was stupid. I carry a card in my wallet that explains it and even that seemed to confuse her. I got an omlette. The lady even brought me pancake. My friend about went off the handle. I sent the pancakes... -
ARCHIVED What Is Cheaper
Crystalkd posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm to the point that I'm ready to start stocking my pantry with things. I'm not real sure about conversions so are there a couple of AP gluten-free flours that are good and where is the cheapest place to get them. Just in general what are the basics that are good to have. My meals have been a bit repeditive but if I could get some quick and easy recipes... -
ARCHIVED Financial Assistance For Low Income Families?
Crystalkd replied to hornbeck0920's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I feel you're pain. Believe me. For the first two or three weeks I cried everyday because I couldn't figure out how I was going to make ends meet. Iwas also eating alot of the prepackaged stuff. I think they key is getting used to going diffrent places for diffrent things. I go to the farmers market for my veggies, meat, and some other stuff. I go to Kroger... -
I'm reading Living gluten-free for Dummies and understanding so much more! It's great! There are several things humans now eat that our bodies weren't designed for. Dairy is another one. We are the only mammals that drinkj another mammals milk. Hence the high incidents of Lactose intolorence. celiac disease isn't the only things medical science isn't clear...

ARCHIVED I'm Starving ... Am I Healing?
Crystalkd replied to grey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been on the diet about as long as you have. The first three days I was on it I was constantly eating. For the first two week I ate a lot of processed stuff that plainly said Gluten free on it. Now I'm making more of an effort to eat a balanced diet and not nearly as hungry although I always have rice cakes or some sort of veggies with me to snack on... -

Gastroc relese? I'm not familar with that. The first couple of hours after the botox are the worst. I was a little sore but my leg didn'tfeel like lead for three months so to me it was worth it. I knew there had to be at least one other out there. I've notced that I don't quite shake as much. My spasms aren't so bad. (about a month before the diet they got so bad I had to take flexiril just to deal!!) I feel like its easier to move! Before I was getting botox shots for my right left because my knee would hurt so bad. Now I don't think I need it anymore... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Have Cerebral Palsy & celiac disease
Crystalkd posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I was just wondering if anyone else here is like me. I have Cerebral Palsy and celiac disease. It's no big deal. I don't suspect any kind of link betwwen the two. I'm just interested to see if there is anyone else dealing with both as well. I've notice since being on the diet some of the thingd the docs thought were CP related have gone away or gotten better...
