  1. I have to agree. In most cases the lines are flushed and clean so you should be okay. I regularly buy alot of the products on your list and have had no problem. We are always at risk of getting glutened that just the nature of the disorder however if something says gluten free it is most likely tested to make sure it is. You can try any of the Enjoy Life...
  2. It's funny. I noticed a problem after I got Pneumonia severel years ago. Anytime I had gastro problems I would say that I ate too much. I know diffrent now but I found your brothers responce familiar.
  3. I know a little more about exactly what's up with my back now. There are several rings in your spinal cord that add support. With my other surgery they had to remove them. It dosesn't cause a problem for many people but it is for me. My back is slowly shifting. So this is something that has nothing to do with my diet at all nor would a chiropractor do any...
  4. My b12 levels are fine. We check them often! I got so weak when I first got sick that they got me into pt because I lost so much strenghth and movement. The pain did not get better with the PT. My ortho would have sent me to PT if he thought it would help. I see him Thursday so we'll discuss more about everthing then.
  5. I have Cerebral Palsy as well and I had a major surgery to cut some nerves in '89. With out it I don't think I'd be walking right now but it's caused back problems. They told me I had a buldging disk in L5 4 years ago but was told it wasn't worth doing anything about. Now my L4 and 5 have slipped and are starting to compress my spinal cord which is causing...
  6. UPDATE: They are also training thier servers what gluten-free means!! This has become one of the places I feel truly safe and know I'll be safe to eat!
  7. I live in Metro Atlanta and I think most Wendy's here have dedicated fryers. Wendy's and Chick-fil-a are about the only fast food I'll eat now. I had mc D's fries last night and had no isuue but that will NOT be a habit!
  8. I thought I was doing great and even gaining weight. In the last three weeks all that has changed. I went to my PCP and had gained six pounds so we were thrilled. Then my back went out, The next week I went to a scheduled allergist appointment and was told I wasn't allergic to any food but had a few enviro allergies. When I got on that scale I was 116 and...
  9. I wanted to let you guys know about Tin Roof Cantina. I've known the owners and several of the people that work there for about 2 years now since they were at CJ's Landing. They have become very good about working with my gluten issue and even started carrying Red Bridge for me. This is a great group of people and I thought I'd let you guys know about it...
  10. It seems to me that you are having a normal reaction. You're new to the diet and its the holidays. I've been on the diet since July and there a def things that are still a major pain and I still have hard times dealing with it but I'm greatful to have to know what's wrong. Hang in there. It gets easier and it's normal to get frustrated. It's a major change...
  11. Okay that's it! I've been debating buying Chebe now I'm sold. I don't recall seeing it at Whole Foods or Kroger. Is online the only place you can get it? I'm not opposed to ordering things online was just wondering if I can get it near me. Oh god do I miss sandwichies and the like!
  12. I don't have children but I know I get self conious about eating diffrent things some times. The thing about this that caught my eye is the fact that you have no paperwork from is doctor on file. Do you not have any at all or do you just not have it on file at school. Having paperwork is important I think especially since he is so young. If something happened...
  13. I agree with what the rest of them have said but I want to commend you on even asking! Some don't even think about it!
  14. I cheated on the gluten-free part of my diet. I guess the temptation started to get to me the other day when my Internist decieded there was no other option but to run a full allergey panel. We know I'm allergic to wheat, corn, mold, grass, and dogs and there are so many other things I react strongly too. My doc is still convinced I have celiac disease as well...
  15. I had a mini meltdown and a couple times I wanted to cheat. Part of the problem was I didn't get to go to Whole Foods the other day but I'll start picking stuff up now for Christmas. I got a little CC yesterday only because I had to cook in a house that wasn't mine. I almost gave in to the cornbread and pumkin pie. I guess I'll make my own pumkin pie when...
  16. I think that some Kraft BBQ sauses are okay as far a gluten-free.
  17. They aren't the same. No the two day gluten loading won't work as I understand it. You know gluten is a problem for you. You have to be gluten-free no matter what. Why even make yourself so sick for this test. The longer I'm on the diet the harder it gets to even think about going back. The better I get I realize just how sick I was and how LONG I was sick...
  18. Here is my take on the whole thing. I spent years having problems that my doctors said was due to my Cerebral Palsy. I took that answer with out question and because I did I was on all sorts of meds to depression, mood problems, and pain. Earlier this year I woke up with symtoms of having had a stroke but no evidence was found to prove it. The doc then said...
  19. I'm a little diffrent. My view is this. He is 22 and able to make his own choices. Share with him what you know. I've seen that family members no matter how hard they try or how well meaning they are are still clueless and defensive in some areas. My mom knows I can't eat pizza but she still doesn't grasp the food additives thing. My saving grace was that...
  20. It's okay to be overhelmed. I was. My allegeies almost cost me my life as well. I'm not sure what my trigger was. I have mild Cerebral Palsy as well and a surgery I had could have set it off. It's okay to grieve. I did!!! It's hard! I found the easiest thing to do was go back to basics and add things from there as I learned more about what I could and couldn...
  21. My doctor also points out that while you're healing you'll have good days and bad days. You may also have other allergies or sensitities. I remember one morning I was eating Lundberg rice cakes and drinking kool-aid and started getting a headache. I looked at the koolaid packet and say maltadextrin which is suposed to be made of corn. I automaticlly questioned...
  22. In recipes that require butter or milk is there a sub that can be used. I try to keep lactose to a minium and I'm allergic to corn and soy. I also react to eggs as well.
  23. Thanks guys. I'll have to find the cranberries and try that it does sound good. My family know WHY I can't eat things and they're supportive to that end but as far as making things I can eat I have to do that. They are not understanding to that end. For instance we're having a party for my newphew friday night at Chuck E Cheese so I'll get my mom to stop...
  24. My family is good about understanding to a point. I'm prepared to make alot of my own stuff if needed. Any ideas on a cranberry sauce? I love that stuff! I need something that is gluten-free, corn free and soy free if possible. I've been eating corn from time to time but I think I'm getting ready to cut that out too. It seems like if I over do it it I get...
  25. It also helps if you know people where your at. I know the cook of one Italian resturant and he understands allergies so I feel safe eating there. There is a bar I go to that I'm friends with alot of them so thry're careful. The only problems I have are because I eat corn when I really shouldn't.
