  1. I hoped I wasn't confusing people with this post. I will NEVER eat gluten again. Problems with gluten have gotten me to realize I can do alot of good things to effect my health by eliminating certain foods and adding others. The journey I am on now is about living a truly healthy life that isn't limited by the fact that I can't eat wheat anymore but...
  2. I wasn't sure where to post this because this forum doesn't have a "moving past" celiac/gluten intolerance section but this is exactly what I would like to try and accomplish. To this end I am currently doing two things. 1) I have contacted a Dr I read about recently in Outside Magazine. His website is www.doctorbannock.com . For a fee he will customize...
  3. I convinced my father to get tested through enterolabs. He still is having a hard time believing gluten is his problem. I posted this elsewhere but his doctor told him he could eat pizza on friday night's if he wants. With prevailing attitudes like this only those who see the proverbial "light" have any chance. Take the high ground whenever possible....
  4. Does your daughter believe you are a hypochondriac? How does she explain your problems and the solutions to your problems? I'm a 37 year old father of 4 children under the age of 5 so consider the source of this advice........bang on her about this everyday. I tend to think of gluten the same way I think of smoking. We know it's bad for us and we don...
  5. I'm gonna need a few more checks in the idiot column before I can convince my father to get rid of this guy so please keep 'em comin'! Thanks
  6. My father is working through some issues that I have believed have been related to gluten intolerance/sensitivity for some time now. I posted his Enterolab results before and will do so again below. He took the results to his GI who told him since he is not technically defined as Celiac that he can go ahead and eat pizza on Friday nights if he feels like...
  7. Final Results are in for Enterolab gene test. Do you concur that my father should stop eating gluten and casein? I did an elimination diet to diagnose myself and I am now gluten and casein free. It has made a big difference but I am still strugling with the occasion glutening. A) Gluten Sensitivity Stool and Gene Panel Complete *Best test/best value...

    ARCHIVED No Support...

Don't feel bad my mother is a b#%ch too:) (seriously!) At Thanksgiving EVERYTHING had gluten in it. On purpose I think. When I wouldn't eat anything she told me my gluten intolerance hadn't been "confirmed". My father just got his test results back and he is in some real trouble. Her tune is a bit different now but I still suspect she would gluten me...

    ARCHIVED Gray Hair

I have a small patch that used to be gray. I just noticed that it came back this week. Coincidentally I got glutened sometime in the past two weeks. I think you are onto something
  10. There are no gene results yet. I dont even know if Enterolab does this. Do we need a seperate blood test for the gene test? I am having a hard time understanding how something like this can come on to a man in his 60's and not before this. My superfit uncle (fathers brother) died from lung cancer a few years ago. He didn't smoke and took great care of...
  11. Do you think fish oil pills taken daily could influence these results?
  12. I forced my father to get tested through Enterolabs. These are his results. It clearly shows he has gluten and casein sensitivity but does the fecal fat score mean he is probably Celiac? A) Gluten Sensitivity Stool and Gene Panel Complete *Best test/best value Fecal Antigliadin IgA21(Normal Range <10 Units) Fecal Antitissue Transglutaminase IgA...
  13. I see the same thing everyday. I had one person listen to me and her story is the one I tell to everyone else. She had a bunch of Celiac related disorders and her health was declining every day. Her doctors have diagnosed her with multiple conditions/disorders etc. over the course of two years. She told me about her problems and in exactly 2 seconds I told...

    ARCHIVED Addictions?

I'm sharing with mywife but the issue is the same. The lack of a hangover is great but dangerous. I am sorry to hear about your brother. I have 6 month old twins and a 3 year old and a 4 year old.....so no wonder I have a potential drinking problem.
  15. We really let it all hang out on this forum don't we I need some advice. I have been gluten-free for 6 months and CF for maybe 2 months. I am still working through all of this but I feel dramatically different and will never go back. Like all of you, I have had to give up a variety of things to eat. Now that I believe I can drink wine and eat dark...
  16. I eat there alot and only recently did I see they actually have a seperate gluten-free menu. It's a nice thing to have and their food is good.
  17. Tom - I dont want to write a long response about my own problems with depression and anxiety but I have never been able to describe that part of my life with out feeling the "willies" come back so you are not alone in not wanting to "get into" it. Thanks for your response! DingoGirl - Are you the same person who responded to my crazy (but accurate of course...
  18. I may be waving the flag of Gluten-free Casein-free a little high lately but given the amazing transformation in my own life I can't help but spread the word. I have two friends whose sons have bi-polar disorders. I have discussed with one of them that many people (myself included) feel that food intolerance is a root cause of mental disorder/disease. I would...
  19. Self diagnosed as well! Bottom line is that gluten and casein aren't "good" for anyone. I am almost certain this will become the "next big thing" in the diet world within the next five years regardless of a doctors diagnosis. If you have the courage to remove these foods from your diet (and possibly others) and you feel better doing so then why do any...
  20. Open Original Shared Link This is how I discovered that I had food allergies to begin with. The guy is a bit whacked and he believes he can cure cancer etc.. I actually think his program does but not for the reasons he thinks. He accidentally gets you to remove all known allergens from your diet. I had never felt better after doing this and I wanted to...
  21. You might be allergic to citric acid. Does your throat swell?
  22. I thought I has this all figured out until I flew first class to Europe recently with a group of business associates. First Class was great and I thought I had avoided any problem foods but later I realized it was the cocktail sauce for the 3am shrimp cocktail. The 3 hours bus ride from the airport the next morning will go down as the most anxious hours...
  23. Soy lechtin is an emulsifier added to chocolate among other things. I can't eat it. It was definitely in the Pay Day you ate.
  24. I was never a skeptic before but I certainly am now. I am amazed at how little our medical establishment knows about the health effects of the food we eat every day. Celiacs are the tip of the iceburg. I am thouroughly convinced that many of man's common ailments begin with a diminished immune system caused by the consumption of wheat, not just in those suffering...
  25. I was incredibly irritable. I also had moments where I felt the best I had ever felt, full of energy etc. An hour later I would crash and be looking at my wife like everything was her fault. Stick with it. 3 weeks was all it took for me.
