ARCHIVED Sunblock From A Chair Cause A Dh Rash?
Rosewynde replied to Rosewynde's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
My dad suggested I take a bit of wheat flour, make a paste, put it on a bandaid, and put it on a tender part of flesh. I'm rather afraid to try heeh ; D -
ARCHIVED Blood Tests Were Negative...now What?
Rosewynde replied to Marleigh's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'd say if it's working, stick to it. As for the dairy, If your problem isn't fixed by eliminating gluten then try it. I've seen plenty of people on here where bloodwork and/or biopsy showed no but they felt 100% better on the diet. -
ARCHIVED Why Does Bread Dough Climb Beaters?
Rosewynde replied to susiequsie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You need a bread dough hook, one came with my mixer. The one I have has a hook at the bottom and a large flat circle at the top of the beater to prevent the dough from climbing past it and into the machinery. -
ARCHIVED What Type Of Testing Do I Need?
Rosewynde replied to pilatesgirl24's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'd suggest telling doc you've been looking up things on the web, they hate to hear it but better they know where you got info from. Request that Doc tests you for Celiac Disease, which he may have to find out more about. If he says your biopsy indicated no problems then request a bloodwork test. Mine was positive for the Celiac Antibodies but both my... -
ARCHIVED A Few Questions, Need Advice
Rosewynde replied to peetred's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you want to track it down keep track of what he eats and how he feels after. The best way to track this is avoiding eating out so you know the ingredients of everything. Testing by doctors doesn't always help though it's worth trying that too. You might just get told it's IBS. As for restaurants, I can tell you what I do but it all has potential... -
ARCHIVED Torani Syrups
Rosewynde replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, THanks! My dad keeps offering these to me as he's diabetic and LOVES The sugar free ones. I kept turning him down cause I wasn't sure what was in the flavorings. Now I guess I don't have an excuse haha ; D -
ARCHIVED Feeling Very Lethargic
Rosewynde replied to TFoxx's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It takes varying times for recovery. I got partly better in a week but it's taken me a lot longer to regain the rest. Dairy is definitely another thing to check out as that and Celiac disease often go hand in hand. I get similar reactions to glutening when I've tried dairy again. Most Celiac symptoms are due to malabsorption, so a SAFE multivitamin... -
ARCHIVED Sunblock From A Chair Cause A Dh Rash?
Rosewynde replied to Rosewynde's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Thanks Kbtoyssni, I don't use anything that has risk of getting inside my mouth without throughly reading a label as I don't care to ever get sick again. I also tend to use Hypoallergenic soaps anways due to dry skin problems so I can pretty much rule out problems from that end. But who would figure short term contact from something on someone or something... -
Sounds like you just got a tired/grumpy waiter I don't know about surefire, but here's what I do. I start with asking the waitress, if they don't know or unsure I ask for the manager. If the manager doesn't understand or even attempt to help, then I don't usually go to that restaurant again If a waiter or manager goes out of their way to help me...

ARCHIVED Sunblock From A Chair Cause A Dh Rash?
Rosewynde replied to Rosewynde's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
After doing a bit more research I understand that DH is from internal consumption of gluten. However i do remember reading that people were removing external exposure to gluten to help prevent this problem too. Can someone clue me in as to where to look? I'm not finding much of anything, but I'm obviously having an allergic rash reaction to something in... -
Anyone can develop food allergies at any time. All it takes is to have something trigger it and you get stuck with it. My trigger was a difficult pregnancy. I've read enough on here to know that many of us developed these problems latter in life. I hope you can convince your husband of that. If your feeling rotten there is some cause and it is not all...

I get a low grade fever of 100 or under with glutening. Could also have possibly been food poisoning, as I had that happen once and was just like you said. Also have kids that bring home flu bugs all the time ; D I've seen ones that were short lived like that. Once your system has cleared it out you usually get better fairly quick. So could possibly...

I haven't replaced any from my kitchen, only an old cupcake tin due tiny cracks around the cup edges I couldn't clean easily. I use wooden utensils, Teflon pots and pans, and old plastic containers. If it has had anything containing gluten or dairy in it it gets scrubbed and rinsed and then goes through the dishwasher. I've always done that anyways. The...

ARCHIVED Ketchup
Rosewynde replied to Lillyth's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Heinz has always been my favorite and is what is in most restaurants. I've never had any reactions to it and often use it with safe mayo (Best Foods) and dill pickles (Clausen's) to make a fast salad dressing ; D You can look up discussions on vinegar but from what I understand, distilled vinegars are ok as gluten cannot pass through the distillation... -
I go frequently to the one near us. Every time I go I explain that I have what amounts to a wheat and dairy allergy and that it's very important that no cross contamination occurs. I get the Bare Style Burrito (in a bowl) that doesn't have sour cream or cheese (Mexicano?). So far the only time I've had a problem was the very first time. I shared a drink...

ARCHIVED Sunblock From A Chair Cause A Dh Rash?
Rosewynde posted a topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I'll give background so you know where I'm coming from ; D After 7 years of general stomach problems (told it was IBS), I was diagnosed as Celiac last year after severe bouts of flu like symptoms. Until recently I've never had any problems with things on my skin causing rashes or other problems. I've since noticed that some shampoos cause hair loss and... -
ARCHIVED Parkinson's--a Celiac Connection?
Rosewynde replied to elye's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My Maternal Grandmother had Parkinson's and my Celiac Disease is from her side of the family we believe, based on somethings my aunt overheard in discussions when she was younger. So this whole discussion is fascinating to me, I'm even going to forward this to Mom. I do know I get really foggy brained when I've been gluttened, so I know that it does affect... -
ARCHIVED Making The Whole Family gluten-free?
Rosewynde replied to moonlitemama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My family is mostly gluten free. I got rid of the wheat / rye flours. But we still have bread, crackers, and cereal around for the rest of the family. I just make sure I clean the counters with a paper towel that I can throw away. I bought new mayo and peanut butter that is either just for me or the rest of the family can use provided no double dipping... -
ARCHIVED 4 Year Old Son And I Just Diagnosed - Overwhelmed
Rosewynde replied to ejcanas's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You've come to the right place! The internet and this site in particular has all sorts of great information and help. This is usually where I figure out what's safe and what's not. Also, remember all of us here have been through this, so your not alone! The best way to find out if something is safe is to do an internet search or call the number on the... -
San Jose CA here. I've been making homemade stuff mostly and have had some good successes. It's cheaper than buying expensive pre-made gluten stuff if your careful about what you get. Trader Joes has almond meal and flax meal for reasonable prices. I found glutinous(sweet) rice flour, white rice flour, tapioca starch, potato starch, and rice noodles...

ARCHIVED Need Heavy Duty Snack Options
Rosewynde replied to alamaz's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For our trip recently i brought rice cakes, raw almonds and pecans, and Banana Chips. They all worked great for car snaking and adding to the very limited amount of things we can eat in a restraunt ; ) -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free 2 Months And Burned Out
Rosewynde replied to bellabrit7's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I feel for you! Since I've been so miserably sick and felt so much better gluten free it wasn't as hard a choice to make for me. What I'm having a harder time with is not feeling bad when my family wants to eat out and I have to redirect them or just go to chat and not eat. Xantham gum usually leaves an aftertaste that I personally hate. My mom... -
ARCHIVED Uggh! Another Desperate Person Wanting Validation!
Rosewynde replied to researchher's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Rice Crispie's have Malt in them which is made with barley which is a no no for Celiac's. Chips are notorious for cross contamination so the Doritos were probably also a problem (also they have milk if they are nacho or ranch flavored, which can be a problem if your stomach is already fouled up). Do research and you'll find out quickly what you can and... -
ARCHIVED Deli Meat
Rosewynde replied to holdthegluten's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Foster Farms website said to check the ingredient lists for gluten containing items so I'm assuming they list things as well. Open Original Shared Link
