ARCHIVED Need Help Prepping For Celiac Test
Panopticism replied to KatyE's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am the other way around. I had been gluten free already for 3 years. I had to start eating it to get the bloodwork. I started getting unbelievably sick after 10 days or so. Went to the doc on the 17th day, and she said that I hadn't been on it long enough to get an accurate result, I'd probably false neg. She said to go back to the gluten free diet immediately... -
ARCHIVED Need Help Prepping For Celiac Test
Panopticism replied to KatyE's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am being tested tomorrow. I had been gluten free for 3 years prior to eating it now in preparation for the test. I made it about a week and a half with no symptoms other than a bit more gas than normal and a bit of bloating. After that week and a half mark, I took a turn for the worse. Started getting really sick, extremely watery diarrhea, brain fog, zone... -
ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like A Reaction?
Panopticism replied to MRM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
To the best of my knowledge, if you have burps and farts that smell like sulfur, it is likely that you have an H.Pylori infection. Usually accompanied by nausea, bloating, fatigue, diarrhea. Antacids usually help for a couple of hours, but it comes back. Symptoms usually worsen at night. -
ARCHIVED Quickest Way To Obtain The Blood Test In Ontario, Canada?
Panopticism replied to Panopticism's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah, I've got it scheduled now for Thursday. They told me it was $120. I have been eating gluten regularly for 2 weeks now. I feel awful, so I am assuming the test should yield accurate results. Thanks for the reply. -
ARCHIVED Quickest Way To Obtain The Blood Test In Ontario, Canada?
Panopticism posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello, Quick backstory... I'd been gluten free for about 3 years up until a few weeks ago. Over the three years I saw improvements, but definitely not a complete recovery. I still get occasional flare ups, I'm always bloating with a sense of fullness in the abdomen. One of my primary symptoms has always been a complete inability to digest fats. When I... -
ARCHIVED Having Pain From Eating Non Gluten Foods
Panopticism replied to Pianogirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Judging by the sickness after eating oil, I'm going to guess that you have either gastroesophageal reflux disease, or that there is something wrong with your gallbladder and/or pancreas. Along with oil, do you feel ill after eating foods containing a significant amount of fat? On top of celiac disease, I live with GERD as well as some so far undiagnosed... -
ARCHIVED Weight Gain After Gluten Free?
Panopticism replied to Mom2Twins's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Cool. I couldn't gain a damned pound to save my life. I've been gluten free for 11 months I think now, and I'm still way underweight. I eat so much, too. I'm broken. By the way, I'm a 19 year old male, 125lbs. -
In 8-9 months gluten-free, I have not gained all that much weight. I'm pretty horribly underweight, too. I also have that constant hunger you speak of and have the entire time. I eat as much as I can afford to.

I never eat at restaurants... too bad that's not an option for you. Could you bring your own food everywhere, or is that not possible? -
ARCHIVED It's A Pain, But Not The End Of The World...
Panopticism replied to mrsry's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've been gluten free for 8 months-ish. I haven't really started to gain weight yet. I'm like a corpse that won't make eye contact. A real life zombie. -
ARCHIVED New Here And Question About Enterolab Results
Panopticism replied to lanam80's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, I dunno about the similarity between the two... wouldn't gluten sensitivity be more of a... sensitivity, intolerance, inability to digest, etc. Whereas, Celiac Disease is where your liver goes into fight mode and releases antibodies and tries to fight gluten, thinking it's a seriously harmful intruder? I always just assumed that, from a scientific... -
ARCHIVED What Types Of Reactions Do You Get When You're Glutened?
Panopticism replied to blondebombshell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Crippling nausea, feel faint, confused, very bad diarrhea where most food comes out the same way it was when it went in my mouth and EXTREME abdominal pain. Fetal position on the floor, you know. Lasts about a week, diarrhea and abdominal pain last about two weeks. -

ARCHIVED It's A Pain, But Not The End Of The World...
Panopticism replied to mrsry's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I work in customer service, and I get insulted all the time for being too skinny(I weigh 125lbs), too pale(Iron deficiency anemia) and looking tired(...Iron deficiency anemia again, plus all sorts of malabsorption). It's not just people sharing their opinion, it's people telling me to get some sleep, eat more, get some sun, etc. I have almost gotten... -
My girlfriend brushes her teeth after eating anything I can't, so she doesn't make me sick. Otherwise I would get sick. It has happened before. I used to end up with heartburn really bad while we were together, before I went gluten free/knew I had Celiac disease...

Caffeine? Last time I had a soda(or pop as it's called here), was a Mountain Dew about a year ago... I literally almost killed myself to put an end to my misery. I was so sick that night. Coffee, chocolate and tea all do the same to me. Coffee is the worst. With that having been said, I sometimes drink Canada Dry ginger ale(caffeine free) with no problems... -
ARCHIVED New To All This And Really Wondering
Panopticism replied to sherie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
As far as the sinus headaches... I used to get four to ten sinus infections per year. And before that it was ear infections when I was much younger. Haven't even had a cold since going gluten-free/casein-free. Come to think of it, I haven't had a virus or infection at all... -
ARCHIVED Question About Diagnosis...
Panopticism replied to Panopticism's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah, I have no problem with the diet. And you're right, they're not nutritionally valuable. In fact, they're not naturally or traditionally part of our diet anyway. -
ARCHIVED Question About Diagnosis...
Panopticism posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have been gluten-free for almost 8 months now... I feel almost completely better. I never got the tests, because I had already gone gluten-free before going to the doctor, and didn't want to stop. I started feeling better. Now I'm almost feeling 100%. Still I can't help but wonder... I'd love a positive scientific test. Is it scientifically possible... -
ARCHIVED Are There "mental" Symptoms Of Celiac?
Panopticism replied to horsesjapan's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am Autistic as well as Celiac(minus the diagnosis, positive reaction to gluten-free-cf diet after 6 months or so). The two are commonly related... I've got plenty of mental symptoms. -
ARCHIVED Tooth Decay And Very Noticeable Hair Loss
Panopticism replied to radgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I make my own food and hygiene products from natural ingredients. I trust myself! Been given the same bull**** from all the companies I've called. Customer service hotlines are useless. It's true that you have to be careful, with all the recent studies on Celiac disease and how it may lead to REALLY scary stuff if left untreated. People think I'm just being... -
Since going gluten free I've had to also cut out eggs, casein, caffeine, meat, high fat... anything and a bunch of other things. I just try to stick to the foods that human beings were originally supposed to be eating. Food for thought... literally.

ARCHIVED Tooth Decay And Very Noticeable Hair Loss
Panopticism replied to radgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Your best bet is just to not use anything unless you're 100% certain it's gluten free. For the hair, check your ingredients, MAKE SURE THERE IS NO WHEAT IN YOUR SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER. The shampoo and conditioners I was using listed Hydrolyzed wheat protein. I stopped using them, and my hair is soft again, but unfortunately other people who use the same shower...
