  1. Can I say DUH It is a flour blend that calls for xanthan gum! First rule of baking, READ THE ENTIRE RECIPE
  2. I was looking at the recipes on Land O Lakes and came across the Open Original Shared Linkand I am wondering what you all think. There isn't any xanthan gum called for. Some have said they never use it but I just can't imagine. I would hate to waste the ingredients and not have it turn out. VANILLA POUND CAKE (Gluten Free Recipe*) A gluten...
  3. So I started reading on line about these and ran across pupusas, and am wondering if they are gluten free. I saw description is a thick hand made corn tortilla that is stuffed......I want this. I have never seen these or heard of them before. Where would could I buy some. Cripes I made chicken with chilis and garlic and peppers with black beans and avocado...
  4. We are going away for the weekend and I think I should bring these with me! I am jumping for joy actually, I love cheesecake. This is a very unique recipe, I am anxious to try it. Thank you for sharing.
  5. I have the same issue. As a kid I was full of energy and ran around like crazy, as a teen I was on the swim team, I ran, I biked and I walked but my legs were always tired. Now I am gluten free 6 months and many things have improved but my legs. My daughter and I were talking tonight about me still being tired and she said after years of malabsorption...
  6. Oh my....
  7. Just from the names they seem like they would be the same thing. I would suggest contacting the manufacture and asking.
  8. I would flip if I had to do the true elimination diet. I don't think it is the spuds, I had some yesterday and am not in the pain like I was on Sunday and Monday. I had cabbage on Saturday and Sunday in the form of coleslaw. Of course I could consider mayo and carrots and celery and and onions and vinegar lol but I really think it is the cabbage. I bet...
  9. I think the almond meal is what people use but yes I think it would add specks and some flavor but it would be subtle because of the small amount. I don't think xanthan gum is needed. gluten-free flourless chocolate cakes don't call for xanthan gum. IF for some reason this doesn't set up when you make it, or any recipe like this, freeze it and serve...
  10. Could it be cabbage? It is the food that I have been questioning lately because when I eat it many times it is coleslaw or corned beef and cabbage. Lets see, every time I have eaten it I have had the big d the next day. I have eaten it in salads a lot including coleslaw and an Asian salad plus cooked with corned beef. So it could be the spuds but I for some...
  11. That would figure, potatoes are my go to food.
  12. I love this recipe and it will be going into my file! I would suggest using almond flour or coconut flour, that is what I am going to be trying. Any flour blend that you use for anything else would be fine too but I think the almond flour is the best idea. There are a lot of recipes out there for chocolate cakes with almond flour which is why I am leaning...
  13. I have no idea what is going on. I am not getting cc'd so that isn't the issue here, when that happens it is a different pain and only temporary while this is almost daily. When I get cc'd my shoulder joints hurt in a different way. My knees ache, my wrists ache, my shoulders ache and sometimes my hands, these hurt sometimes but more often then not. My...
  14. Those refrences are outdated. This site posts the studies all the time okaying oats for those with Celiac. We use this site for the forum but don't trust the studies they post? https://www.celiac.com/articles/21550/1/Ano...ents/Page1.html "Celiac.com 03/26/2008 - According to the results of a recent study, adults with diet-treated celiac disease show...
  15. I would like to see the info about the tainted oats, do you know where I can find it? Studies have shown over and over that oats are tolerated by Celiacs. Celiac.com posts them all the time. The tainted part is the ONLY part about oats that worries me. I will not spend the extra money on gluten free oats. I think just as any other aspect of being...
  16. I just bought the san j and the smell makes me want to hurl. If thats what real soy sauce is supposed to be like I don't want it. I will stick with boring and flat la choy. La choy is gluten free, if it isn't on the label then it isn't in there. I checked with the company btw. But I will say I haven't done the taste test and I don't know if I can get...
  17. That was me. First off I was constipated the first half of my life. When my life took a major change they started trading off, first diarrhea then constipation then diarrhea then constipation and so on. Finally diarrhea more then anything, 4 days of that then 3 days of constipation. I had other symptoms but never knew they were related so never put it together...
  18. I waited a few months before replacing my cooking utensils. It just seemed so costly and scary at first. Some one on here told me to wait and replace things when I am ready. I didn't replace my cookware, I didn't think it needed and I still don't. I did get a new cutting board asap though. I use one and there is a big pull out one that everyone else uses...
  19. I am just past my 5th month gluten free. I was just thinking about this today. My tummy hurt today and my joints ache and I have no idea what I ate. BUT I do know that I have eaten things other then my usuals. I had some doritios that even though they are ok, DUH I just realized what happens. When people here are eating a sandwhich with gluten full bread...
  20. I am a lot like you. I don't really miss breads, I try to bake them and I do try to eat them and they are ok but it is ok I don't miss them. Baked goodies though would be hard for me! LOL Could you be sensitive to corn? I don't know if you mentioned that before but I was looking at the ingredients you listed. Is it possible to be having issues with xanthan...
  21. Wow it seems to make sense. Caffeine can really bother me because I tend to not eat when I am drinking it. There is such a thing as too much caffeine. Here is one lOpen Original Shared Link I have looked at a few times. I would suggest you ask your Dr about this though. Those seem like some pretty serious side effects.
  22. This sounds really good. I have been thinking about trying one of those recipes for graham crackers and this would be an excellent way to use them. I'm hungry now! LOL
  23. What method did you use to melt them? Low heat in a double boiler is the best method, the micro only on the lowest heat setting. You shouldn't need to temper choc chips, just use lowest heat as possible. And yes adding a fat will help keep it smooth. If you want a ganache heat heavy cream, pour over choc chips and stir. YUMMMMM
  24. I'm not sure where you live but you could grow them. Of course I am assuming you have a place to grow them, sorry. I buy tomato plants and have grown them in pots before. Farmers markets in the summer is your best place to find them. Or some of the gourmet type grocery stores carry them but out of season they are spendy.
  25. So that old recipe I used to make for the choc chip cookies with the pudding mix is a recipe I need to dig back out? We loved those cookies. I wonder how about peanut butter cookies. Dang it I have had a cookie craving for a couple of weeks but I keep buying chocolate instead. I was going to bake cookie today but something got in the way. I will be trying...
