  1. What is the name of your pain meds? Since you have been this way quite a long time, if I were you, I would try to do a juice fast. It will help you heal. Carrot juice is good for the stomach. It helped me once. I also did an herbal wormer, as my daughter had worms, so I assumed I probably had them as well. If you have something autoimmune going...
  2. What kind of pain meds are you taking? And antibiotics are really, really hard on my stomach.
  3. I'm 5' 2 1/2". My Mom was 5 ft and my Grandma was 4'11".
  4. I was so excited when these turned out but later on I got reflux so that worried me a bit. Now I don't know if it was the oats or if it was the corn syrup in my vanilla. I did some research afterwards but got a lot of conflicting information. So I'll have to make something without the vanilla to see if it was the oats or the vanilla.
  5. My daughter was constipated for a couple of years and we found out she had pinworms. You can only see them at night crawling around near the anus. Disgusting I know. If you don't know what you're looking for, you wouldn't recognize it as being a worm. Our pediatrician said that they are becoming more and more common because of daycare centers. You can...
  6. I was trying to incorporate other flours such as amaranth and millet because of their nutritional value and also because of the iffyness of oats. I was using McCann's oatmeal from Walmart. They say they have a dedicated oatmeal mill for oats only. This was all just an experiment and it worked out so I thought I'd share.
  7. I'm glad you liked it! Next time I'll try it with some icing too. Yum.....
  8. I had a wonderful recipe by Tyler Florence at Foodnetwork.com for Banana Bread. I actually made muffins out of it and it was the best banana bread I ever ate. It normally calls for 2 cups of flour, but I substituted 1 1/3 cups of ground oats and 1 cup millet flour and they turned out great. Texture is a little different but they are still great. Anyway...
  9. The people at Kickas.org swear by a no-starch diet which would eliminate gluten as well. Kickas includes all of the inflammatory diseases, including enteropathic arthritis which is what celiac disease is.
  10. I had to quit my job 7 yrs ago. Doctors knew something was wrong with me but wouldn't even take the time to diagnose me officially. I was too sick to fight them anymore. Now finally I have been dx'd with multiple vitamin deficiencies and thyroid disease, probably autoimmune and everything that goes with autoimmune. Don't have any advice for ya, but just...
  11. That's a great idea. Most people have never heard of Celiac disease and this would be a great way to help others become aware of it. Can you have two lines? Bloated? Celiac-Desease- one in 133 Americans has it, you too?
  12. I figure as long as I don't post all the recipes she is at least getting advertising, in a way. I hope you like the recipe, I did. It would go well with some chocolate icing too, I just left it off because I didn't need the extra calories.
  13. Thanks David! I checked out your recipes and that Chocolate Dream Dessert looked wonderful. Too bad I can't get a hold of mascarpone cheese. I don't even know what double cream is. Sounds yummy though.
  14. I hope it's okay to do this. It's from the book by Melissa Diane Smith and the book is called Going against the Grain. Chocolate Walnut Cake 2 1/2 cups ground walnuts 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 5 large eggs 1 cup maple sugar (I used organic sugar, as I wasn't sure what maple sugar was) Confectioners sugar (optional) I ground the walnuts...
  15. I make deviled eggs when I'm looking for something to eat. Or nuts. And tuna is another thing that I eat when I'm starving and don't have anything else. I've also started adding sardines (because they are less likely to have mercury) and I eat them on rice crackers with a little mustard. It's an acquired taste though. I actually have a list of stuff...
  16. I couldn't believe how good this turned out. The texture was amazing considering it was made out of ground walnuts and eggs. It tasted like a walnut brownie. I made it for Thanksgiving and my daughter was a little suspicious of it, but I let her sprinkle some confectioners sugar on it and she liked it. There's just a little sliver left. I got the recipe...
  17. I just wanted to post a followup. I finally got rid of the bloating pain. I did a one day fast but then got a severe migraine, so had to stop the fast. And then I noticed the gnawing pain in the pit of my stomach was more pronounced. I could not get it to go away. I finally realized that all my symptoms started when I bent over, and I had reflux...
  18. What is promethius? All Drs troubleshoot in different ways. I've not been dx'd so maybe someone else can tell you their experiences.
  19. Change is harder to accept for some people. I know that I really had to take baby steps to get where I am today. And, at least your kids are open to eating healthy. Good for them.
  20. You'd think with my memory, I'd doublecheck things first. This is the reason I don't work. LOL The weird thing is both the spondyloarthopathies and celiac disease have sacroiliitis as a symptom. I thought that was wild.
  21. I spelled it wrong, it's spondyloarthropathy, which is the same as spondylitis. There's a forum for it, which includes psoriasis, reactive arthritis, crohn's disease and anklyosing spondylitis. Open Original Shared Link
  22. I am no expert in this, but you say your husband has psoriasis? That is a spondyloarthopathy. I believe that spondyloarthopathies and celiac are both HLA diseases and both are related to gut problems. That's all I know. If you could get your other children tested, I would. Susie
  23. I started to try the Raw Foods diet but it was just too much work and too many ingredients for me. Also I can't eat too many raw vegetables, they have to be steamed. I always thought the reason the Raw Foods diet worked is because you are basically giving up grains, although there are a few recipes that use sprouted grains. I do believe that it's good...
  24. The thing that gives the Vegans so much credibility in their own minds, is the fact that most meat is tainted. I live near farmers and they do still give their steers hormones and they feed them "wheat gluten" to save on feed costs. It's very sad and very sad for the cows as well. You can see that the cows are not happy and not well. It's not the...
  25. I had to start a carrot juice fast. Hopefully I won't have to stay on it the whole 3 days. My stomach is really messed up. I have to give it time to heal. Hopefully this will work again. Susie
