  1. Raw vegetables are hard on digestion esp people like us. Have you heard of the SCD diet? Maybe you should try that. It is for people who have Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Or maybe try a fast. A juice fast. It allows your intestines time to heal but you are still getting nutrition.
  2. If you cut out everything, for sure you are going to suffer in both weight loss and nutrition. Why in the world would you need to cut out vegetables? You also need protein from some source or your body cannot possibly heal or even do normal regeneration and I've heard that's how cancer starts, so I think you need to rethink what you are doing or get a doctor...
  3. There's a big difference between a natural probiotic bacteria and manmade fermented xanthan gum. Xanthan gum is not essential to our well being.
  4. I'm sure I've eaten it before I started checking labels. I thought about buying some just in case I ever wanted to use it in baking. It doesn't sound very appetizing though....bacterium...Yummmm
  5. Happy, Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day!
  6. Nope, I don't think I ate the cone. I don't normally, but I could have eaten a small section. I can't remember for sure. Maybe it was the trans fats. I don't have a gallbladder.
  7. Well, duh, I feel so stupid. However, now I have to wonder why it made my stomach hurt. I can drink milk with no problems. Hmmmm Sorry, I got the message off track.
  8. Wow, now I will have to go check again. All we ate were the vanilla cones and I gave them up, maybe for nothing. Okay, I went back to Dairy Queen website and this is what I'm looking at. Could someone check and see if I'm crazy. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong. My brain is not what it used to be. Open Original Shared Link It's a PDF file so it takes...
  9. I don't even go in Dairy Queen anymore since I found out their ice creams contain wheat! That was my first clue I had a wheat problem because I always got stomach pain afterwards. My daughter will be happy to know she can have a frosty.
  10. Is Wendy's the only fast food? What about Taco Bell? Could you eat at Arby's and just take the meat off the bread?
  11. I'm just curious why some of you say to avoid bean flour. I made some "milk gravy" using garbanzo beans(chickpeas) and it turned out really good. I roasted the beans and then ground them in my grain mill, so maybe that helped boost the flavor. Just curious if that's the bean flour you're referring to?
  12. This is the original Hershey's Fudge recipe. I have always loved this and like you, has ruined all other fudge for me. Last time I made it, my thermometer was off and I ruined it because it cooked too long. I should have used the soft ball method. At one time, this recipe was lost to me. I was so thankful when I found it on the internet again.
  13. Agree 100% with ravenwoodglass! I have thyroid disease, osteoporosis, sacroilitiis, and I have cracks in my feet that bleed and are painful, etc., etc. And I am very bitter toward doctors. Not because they didn't diagnose me, but because of the humiliation that I experienced from being told it was all in my head, from the looks of disgust they gave me...
  14. Sorry, I don't know what you have but I had the itchy bumps on my fingers that turned into blood blisters, but I'm not dx'd. I quit eating processed foods, which got rid of alot of gluten I suppose and it went away. Never thought about it again until I read your message. I'll be curious to see if anyone else has had the itchy blood blisters. I can't...
  15. I have wondered many times whether something changed with the wheat or what? Wasn't celiac disease discovered before the 60's? My aunt is 83 and I ask her all the time about what she ate. She has diverticulosis and has nausea quite often lately, so she has had her share of stomach troubles, but she has made it this far and she is healthier in some respects...
  16. There's a diet for inflammatory arthritis called the no starch diet. By cutting out breads, pasta, etc. they cure their arthritis. I think they all have celiac disease and just don't know it, but anyway they say it works. I think it's also similar to the Specific Carbohydrate diet. I tried to explain to my aunt her arthritis pain would go away is...
  17. Becoming a doctor used to be something you did because you were fascinated by the health field or you yearned to help others. Now it is just about the prestige and the money. That's pretty bad though, "he just can't eat bread"! I've been sick since they took out my gallbladder and that was in 1982. I currently have a dx of IBS.
  18. The gritty texture is from the rice flour and it's in all the mixes that I know of. Larry: Actually pasteurized and homoginized milk is not really good for you either. And yes they add a chemical to the starch to modify it. I read it on this forum where they do actually do that. Salt is the residue that is remaining after the sea water is evaporated...
  19. I don't get heartburn either. I just get a nasty taste in the back of my throat like a bad burp and it's normally when I bend over. It started when I was pregnant and then went away for a loooong time. Do you drink coffee?
  20. I'm in the same boat as you. I can't even bring myself to use xantham gum. Why did they have to name it that! It just sounds awful! Anyway, I was just wondering what kind of mixes or flours you are using? I've been doing lots of researching and experimenting. I've just bought some stuff to make Indian flatbreads. And last night I made some...
  21. When you say acid or you talking about reflux symptoms or something else?
  22. I agree with ravenwoodglass. I use 4 tbs of softened butter, 1 egg yolk and add 1 cup of confectioners sugar. Smash it all together and add maybe 1 tsp of milk to thin it if it needs it. You can make it really fluffy if you use a mixer at the end. You will never go back to the canned icing. To make chocolate just add in some cocoa powder. I normally...
  23. I'd just like to humiliate them the same way they humiliated me when I told them I was sick and they snickered. I wonder if the gluten free diet fixes so many things, does it not fix the other autoimmune things that are going on, such as the eyes? Since the eye doctors are not going to help me, I was hoping the diet would keep my eyes from getting...
  24. So, do they have the stomach flu at your work place? Since they have stomach pain, I'm assuming they do but just want to make sure.
  25. Thanks! I was thinking about making some lemonade and trying it with that just to see if it was the orange juice. I did swig it down awfully fast and it was because of the sweetness of the oj. I couldn't stop myself. I finally found a place in their website that says all their tequilas are gluten free. Hmmmm Why would I be reacting to the caramel...
