  1. I drank one drink with some orange juice. I drank it early about 6 pm. I went to bed at 10 pm and my heart would not quit pounding. It took about an hour for it to quit enough for me to go to sleep. I just bought a $17.00 bottle of tequila to have for Xmas cheer. I can't believe I can't drink it. I know whiskey does this to me, but I thought I could...

    ARCHIVED Gray Hair

I just started being gluten-free after Thanksgiving. It's good to know that it helped your hair loss. I did read that deficiencies in protein, vitamin a, d, and iron can cause hair loss. I will continue to hope that there is hope!

    ARCHIVED Gray Hair

Did you see what tests they performed and the results? I thought all of my vitamin levels were fine, well that's what they told me anyway, and now all of a sudden I have a vitamin D deficiency. Also, my thyroid levels are normal one minute and abnormal the next. I'm not sure what's up with that either, and I am losing hair so bad that I have to unclog...

    ARCHIVED Gray Hair

I've been researching Indian food (not native Americans) and noticed that Indian men have a lot of hair although it's grayed somewhat. They do eat a lot of beans (lentils esp) even grinding the beans into flour. So I would assume they don't eat as much wheat as Americans do. I'm still waiting for my gray hair to reverse. I have Auburn hair color and...
  5. I feel like I have some serious eye issues. I've been dx'd with blepharitis, posterior blepharitis, dry eye, corneal infections, conjunctivitis and some kind of dystrophy, and the cornea specialist would not let me have restasis. His main reasoning was it was expensive. So who cares as long as it's paid for. They also said that my dry eyes were caused...
  6. Vitamin A deficiency causes cornea problems such as dry eye. Once the tear film gets situated in the mornings my eyes get better. I also see halos around lights now. Been to many eye doctors and they were no help.
  7. That's a great idea! I'll have to try that. Also, I made some granola cereal with toasted buckwheat once and I just loved the crunchiness of the buckwheat. Reminded me a little bit of rice crispies.
  8. I have to disagree with that. These are the same institutions that said it was okay to eat trans fats many years ago. And not to eat eggs, and so on.
  9. I take sublingual vitamins D and K and B12. I take a bioactive B complex. I haven't found an A that's sublingual. I also take a powdered multivitamin but I don't know how much I'm absorbing but I take it anyway. They tested my B vitamins and I was okay, but I was deficient in vitamin D. They didn't check my A levels and I wish they had. Millet and...

    ARCHIVED I Feel Exhausted...

At least she agreed to the biopsy, even though you almost had to pull her teeth. I know your frustration. I think doctors take way too many classes in how to detect hypochondria. I took a test for an autoimmune arthritis and it came back negative and the doctor (rheumie) wouldn't even talk to me after that. He said I definately did not have that...
  11. I did get a chance to check out that website. It does list modified tapioca starch in the ingredients. I think it's probably called Expandex. And here's what the company said about it: Expandex
  12. Well, be careful if you have kids: Modified food starches used by the food industry for infants and young children are of concern and there is an urgent need for additional data regarding their bioavailability, effect on nutrient absorption, intestinal changes, and toxic, mutagenic, and carcinogenic effects. Therefore, the inclusion of modified food starches...
  13. I just read it's not good for you as for as digestion and absorption in the liver. I don't know that you would experience any symptoms as it has nothing to do with gluten. I, myself, do not eat chemicals as my brother died from cancer so I am very careful what I eat. That's just me.
  14. I heard it has chemically modified starch in it. Does it say modified cassava starch on the package? I heard we can't digest the modifed starch so I have steered clear of it. I'm not sure all their stuff has it, so that's why I'm asking.
  15. I feel for you. I don't know if I could have done it as easily at 23 yrs old either. But it's hard no matter your age. It's easier to take baby steps in a diet but with this, you kind of have to plunge yourself into the icy water. Stomach pain/nausea is a better motivator than any person could ever be. But the thing to remember is you are not alone....
  16. Please post your recipe. I'd like to have it. Thanks!
  17. I had this for a while. I always thought it was a kind of a muscle myopathy. I have muscle weakness in other areas like my arms and legs, so why not the stomach muscle. Turns out I have a vitamin D deficiency which can also cause myopathy. Haven't gotten it yet, but the endo has prescribed some vitamin D for me to take. In the meantime I bought some...
  18. If you look up at post #4 of this thread, you'll see where I posted the recipe already.
  19. It's approx in the middle of the page. Open Original Shared Link
  20. Hi, I haven't been tested so can't help there. I was dx'd with IBS and I just read that they now feel that IBS may be a mild form of celiac disease. I also have constipation. I've read that grains are bad overall, and eliminating can help you to lose weight, so it's worth giving it a try on that alone. And stomach pain is also a great motivator!
  21. I have to agree with Ravenwood. My entire family has died and I'm only 50. Within a 10 yr time span I lost them all. I have been sick on and off since since they took my gallbladder at 24. I am doing the gluten-free thing on my own, but I have tried everything else and this has to be the missing piece of the puzzle. I am doing this for my 11 yr old...
  22. I always thought that it was the big food companies who really did in the smokers. Kind of like setting up a fake storefront so that the attention would be off of the real culprit, the tainted food and water supply.
  23. What did you have surgery for, that they took out some of your intestines?
  24. I've heard several times that the body has the ability to heal itself if given the right tools. I have tried for 10 years to get well. And then I found out I have malabsorption of vitamins which led me to celiac. The reason we get sick is our bodies are missing the right tools to repair or we are inflicting damage somehow, and I believe that Celiac does...
  25. I agree. I have the book Going against the Grain and in it she states that phytates and lectins are damaging our intestines, but I do believe that with so much sickness going on that the stomach is definitely where we should be looking. A friend of mine has gluten symptoms and he doesn't want to hear it. But on the other side of the coin, it's sad that...
