  1. Mel, I went through alot of the same things that you have with the testing. Unfortunately, my biopsy came back inconclusive so I went through months of wondering what was wrong. The doctor kept telling me that I was intolerant to gluten, had leaky gut syndrome, and malabsorption sympdrome, but would not use the word Celiac. He believed in EnteroLab and...

Meghan, Welcome to the board! You will learn alot of valuable information here. I know that I have. I can't imagine how I would have handled all of this without being able to read about other people's experiences. You will get better, but it will take time!
  3. Missy, I had the complete panel from EnteroLab, and my insurance paid for everything except the gene testing. I did not have a doctor order the test. I have posted on here my experience with the other GI doctors that have accepted EnteroLab's test results. I feel very comfortable with my results from EnteroLab and would recommend Dr. Fine to anyone. My...
  4. Jess, I had the EnteroLab tests, as well as blood tests and a biopsy. EnteroLab was positive but my blood tests were negative and the biopsy was considered inconclusive. My GI doctor accepted the results, because he felt that with all of the symptons that I had and my improvement on a gluten-free diet that it was enough proof for him. After eleven months...
  5. Sally, I have had three endoscopies and colonoscopies. My only problem was vomiting and after the first two they discovered that one of the drugs was the problem. The last one wasn't bad at all. I think that you have a great doctor that wants to be sure that nothing develops. I found that the prep. was actually worse then the procedure. Good luck...
  6. Great letter! I hope that Oprah will become interested in learning about Celiac and decide to do a show. That would increase the public's knowledge and awareness of it faster than anything.
  7. Amanda, I was tested by EnteroLab and York. Both of them showed that I was intolerant to casein and milk products. I have always had problems after eating ice cream or drinking milk. I would have bloating, diarreha and congestion.
  8. Mel. Thanks for the reply. It sounds like you have the same problem with food as I do. If I have to go to a meeting or be limited to bathroom access, I just don't eat anything. I can't figure out what makes me sick, because it seems as if everything does. I think that I have elimiated gluten, dairy, yeast, nuts and fresh fruits. I haven't tried eliminating...
  9. Thanks to everyone for replying with your suggestions. I have checked my medicine and it is gluten-free. I think that I must be getting gluten from eating in restaurants. I am going to have to learn to take my food when I travel as was suggested by tarnalberry. I also eat alot of gluten-free processed foods, so I may be getting some yeast and dairy. I have...
  10. Hello, I did the EnteroLab test about a year ago and my daughter sent hers off a couple of weeks ago. We only received the one box and returned one stool sample with the swabs in an envelope in that same box. We both also had the complete panel. I think they must have made an error when they sent you two boxes. I emailed them a couple of times and they...
  11. Hello everyone, I can't seem to eliminate the gluten from my life. I went on a short trip this last weekend and ordered what I thought was a safe meal. I had steak and a baked potato, but evidently the steak must have been cross-contaminated. They left off all seasonings and cooked it on a grill that they said was cleaned. The stomach bloating and pain...
  12. I didn't have any problem with York. I requested that they email me my results and they did that, before they mailed out the package. I received my results in approximately two weeks. I would email them again. Beverly
  13. I emailed Cracker Barrel and asked my questions again, and ask them to please clarify their response to me, but I haven't received a response. The waiter was young, but he did listen to me when I explained to him the foods that I couldn't eat. I was in Dallas for an appointment with a doctor and was traveling when I stopped in Cracker Barrel. The waiter...
  14. I sent Cracker Barrel an email requesting information on their ingredients and if any items on their menu were gluten-free and this is the response I received: Thank you for taking the time to contact us here at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.
  15. Leslie, I will tell you my experience with testing and maybe it will help you decide about EnteroLab. I had negative blood tests and an inconclusive biopsy. I did the EnteroLab tests a couple of weeks before I had the other tests done. My stool tests were positive for gluten sensitivity, moderate damage from malabsorption, and casein intolerant. I went...
  16. celiac3270, I am very happy that the doctors found your problem. We will all be thinking of you and know that you will feel much better after you recover from the surgery! Beverly
  17. I think your talking about Questran, which has a long name that starts with what you were trying to spell. I took this medicine for awhile, but it didn't help me. I hurt and cramped alot more after taking it. I have starting taking another medicine that is similar to that, but it is in pill form, and seems to be working on the diarreha. I still have horrible...

  19. celiac3270, I am sorry that you are not doing any better. I have been gluten-free since March 2004, and have seen some improvement, but not enough. I am still having chronic diarreha and nausea. I can't vomit, because I had a procedure for Gerd called a Nissen Fundo. that wrapped my stomach around my esphogahus. My stomach bloats until the gas moves through...
  20. Hi Deb, Your husband sounds alot like me. I had a Nissan Fundoliplication procedure approximately two years ago, because my eshpohagitis was so bad. I had Gerd for a couple of years. I tried all of the acid reducers, but nothing helped. My last endo. which was approximately three months ago, still indicates that I have chronic gastritis and another hiatal...
  21. pixiegirl, Thanks for the words of support. I have tried being gluten-free since March 2004, but I just don't feel like I am doing a very good job. Three medications that were prescribed to me by my gastro. doctor contained gluten, and I had to discover this myself. This is what is nice about this forum. Everyone is trying to help everyone else. ...
  22. I have been eating these chips for several months and my intestinal problems have not improved. Maybe this is part of the reason. I am so frustrated-I just can't seem to get this diet right! Beverly
  23. I work at winery, so I can state that it is a fact that our wines are gluten free, but all wines can contain small amounts of yeast, and some use an egg additive as a clarifier. Citric acid is also used as an additive, but normally doesn't contain gluten in the U.S.
  24. I also tested positive for a yeast allergy, so I started avoiding all things that contained any form of yeast. So many items have yeast extract added or vinegar. I work at a winery so I ask the winemaker about the wine, since I have to taste wine as one of my job responsibilities. He said that all wine contains yeast, but after filtering, there is a very...
  25. Yes, I took this medicine for approximately a year, and it did relieve some of the cramping, but didn't do anything for the diarrhea. I had extremely dry lips and mouth when I was taking it. My lips would crack and were sore all of the time. I found that none of the medicines prescribed eliminated my diarrhea. I still have it 75% of the time. I take Lomotil...
