Red345: Have run into some more interesting information involving fibromyalgia patients. A Mark Sprague on www.ibsgroup.org ( if this doesn't work try groups) recommends a probiotic from a company called Lame Advertisement called Provex. His email is msprague200@yahoo.ca. He used this for high cholesterol , but it cured his ibs as well and in his letter...

ARCHIVED Celiac In Toronto News Today

Sharon: I agree wholeheartedly with what you have said in your post. This is the will of men, but not of God. Thanks for your excellent input. Strack 2004 -
I have had my gallbladder removed and still have the same pain I had before, under my right rib cage in the center, going up my esophagus and across my upper ab to the right. It is a burning sensation. Also travels up to my right shoulder blade vicinity. Antacids sometimes help for an hour or so, but not enough to make it worth spending on prescriptions...

red345:I have just read an interesting book from the library that may have some bearing on the research you are doing. It is called "Sugars That Heal, The New healing Science of Glyconutrients" by Emil I. Mondoa, M.D. and Mindy Kitei. It is published in paperback by Ballantine Books. Copyright is 2001. The book listes 8 essential saccharides and the role...

strack2004 replied to vany4's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi! About pain for bone , etc. pain: I used to take acetominophen. I decided to stop taking any pain medicine. I have adjusted my footwear situation so the pain in my right foot, while strongly present some of the time, is bearable even whille walking. My other bone, muscle pains in right shoulder, along arms, in hands and to a lesser extent in my right... -

strack2004 replied to vany4's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I experience a great deal of bone, muscle, ligament, whathave you pain. This is especially true in myhands and feet and right shoulder. Also have burning pain across my upper ab beginning under right center ribcage. The two seem to get worse at the same time. I am eating gluten-free, and have been really faithful, however, I forgot yesterday and opened... -

Mark, Where do you get the 5 strain dophilus or lepicol? Will check my health food store to see if the lady there carries either one. Thanks, Ruth -
Kevin, I didn't really tie up my answers with your aims for your questionnaire yesterday. A possible connection is that my body aches and abdominal burning seem to be better on the same day and worse at the same time. Also, the name of my oldest daughter's problem is angio-edema, inherited. There are relatively few documented cases of this ailment. She...

Kevin: At first I did not think I would reply to your questionnaire, but on reading all this topic, I think I have something worth adding even though I have not been diagnosed with celiac disease. I have had digestive problems since early childhood. I am currently using the SCD diet put out by Elaine Gottschalk in "Breaking the Vicious Cycle" . It's worth...

ARCHIVED My Diet Is Not Like Most Of Yours
strack2004 replied to coin-op's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Burdee, Thanks for your good ideas. So far I am eating only the foods that I think I tolerate from Elaine Gottschalk's diet plan. My diet consists of meats: poultry (chicken and turkey), fish (pollock, canned salmon, haven't tried mackerel yet, eventually will check out tuna that doesn't have added ingredients. Says it is put up in water, but has this... -

FreyaUSA, Thanks for your constipation tip. Unfortunately, I had used Metamucil and Celucil, etc. for years previously without any change in my bowel pattern. I am beginning to think maybe I have adhesions in my right side. I seem to feel gas building up there, or pressure from stool collecting. No pressure or pain in my left side, but intense burning in... -

Mark, Which probiotics do you use? CurrentlyI am using something called Procratin which contains protease, amylase, lipsase and one other enzyme. I do this at the library and don't have the bottle handy. Ruth S. -

strack2004 replied to HappyCat22's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I usually have experienced an improvement in my symptoms while taking antibiotics off and on over the years. It only lasts a couple of days after the course is finished, though. Probiotics over a long period of time may be the answer. I just discovered a new book at our library called "Sugars That Heal" by Emil I. Mondoa, M.D. and Mindy Kitei. It lists ... -

celiac3270, Tiffany, and Burdee, Thanks for your replies. I did not check this post, Burdee , before responding on My Diet is not like your diet. I appreciate the information about oatmeal from all of you. I have been using the food lists given under Elaine Gottschalk's site. These other fiber options aren't allowed under that food list. However, I realize... -

strack2004 replied to coin-op's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Burdee and Others, I have not been diagnosed yet either, probably won't be. However, I decided that the diet is worth trying. At least it is a starting place for testing out various foods from a limited number. I will be spending less time tutoring at school this year, so will have more time to investigate and explore to find out what works and what doesn... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Oatmeal?
strack2004 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have just received the results from my cholesterol test: overall -260, triglycerides -76, HDL-67, LDL - 178. My triclycerides are down since last year, but LDL has gone way up. I actually eat very little fat on my SCD gluten-free diet. 1-2 tsp. olive oil a day on salad, dabs of peanut butter in a stalk of celery, whatever fat is in meat. I eat beef occasionally... -

I just posted a long list of foods I eat on the SCD diet on another thread. Forgot to write it down, but it was posted today, Sept 13. Upon reading these posts, I realize that one of the things I have eaten regularly for lunch is peanut butter. Last Tuesday was a day when I felt better than I have for awhile all day. That was possibly because I didn't... -

Hi., I am only into the diet for about 6 going on 7 weeks. I am using the "Breaking the Vicious Cycle" diet proposed by Elain Gottschall. I have the most trouble getting enough carbohydrates, as someone else mentioned, but am experimenting with various allowed kinds of beans like limas, baby and large, green beans, wax beans and purple beans (very good and... -

ARCHIVED Underweight/Overweight?
strack2004 replied to Mballerina's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I, too, do not fit the given categories. I put myself down as overweight and losing weight after going gluten-free. However, I weighed 140 on the clinic scales when I went gluten-free. I am 6'61/2" tall. The dietician felt I should not lose anymore. I had alread lost some 20 lbs. pretty much eating gluten-free except for eating bread and macaroni, noodles... -

celiac3270. I guess it would be hard for you to eliminate potatoes! Just an idea. I do have another question about using this site. In My Assistant I can get my last ten posts brought up. One time, quite by accident, I got all my posts even though there were more than 10. Is there a way to get all ones posts to come up ? Thanks, Ruth. -

Hi again. celiac3270, if you ever do go on an elimination diet, perhaps consider eliminating potatoes and tomato family also. Peppers and eggplant are also in that family. Those are things that definitely give me problems, but they may not bother you since all our systems are different. Like snowflakes, each person is different. Just thought I'd mention...
