  1. My MIL (English/Welsh) always said Saraday for Saturday And then there are the Mundy, Toosdy, Wensdy types
  2. Aha, ya see, my point eggsactly--don't even know what dey is missing!! OMG, dat removes a lot of guilt. I did zactly same thing, thought I was the only one. Fortunately she did not seem to have been in pain, but I kept it up for a year or two before they phinally removed her eye they found a foxtail in it Poor doggy!!!!
  3. Hi, and welcome to the forum. You will find, if you have done much reading here, that your story is not unfamiliar. It is sad, but true, that we often have to diagnose ourselves and devise our own treatment, research what other problems we may have, ask our doctors to perform certain tests, tell them what they need to do for us. If we don't do it, it...
  4. Organic is good, but there are many organic and/or natural products that contain gluten and soy. Earth Balance makes a soy-free spread. Chicken does not have soy unless it has been added as a broth/baste. Always buy plain (and I would make it organic) chicken. I don't know if ghee *has* to be refrigerated but I would imagine it could not stay out for...
  5. On the subject of name pronunciation in the States, I would hate to be called Graham (or Graeme) over there because I would always be addressed as Gram
  6. Also, "Where's it at?" and "me and my mom went to the mall", *Me* doesn't go anywhere! And add to the yummy list "yummy mummy".
  7. That's why you have to start them off with the over the top, so they never know what joy awaits them No enticing dangly bits. I am such a spoilsport!
  8. Okey dokey, I agree with that, but I think "bless her heart" has a totally different meaning from "bless your heart" Although on the other hand, bless her heart could also be said of someone who always does all the cleaning up after a potluck, "She's the one, bless her heart, who can always be found in the kitchen washing the dishes." In my form of usage...
  9. I think most of us have the expectation that, since gluten seems to be the problem, eliminate and it will be like waving a magic wand. Unfortunately, it isn't so, as we nearly all find out. Once we have cured the other deficiencies in our body, and maybe even before, many of us find we also have other underlying intolerances that have been masked by the...
  10. I converted to over the top because my kittehs could never resist the lure of a piece of paper hanging down, and tp would be unravelled all over the house  Talk about out of control!!! Then it seemed so much more convenient I never converted back.
  11. He can come live with me any time!! Isn't that what all sensible (as opposed to having been taught the "correct" way) do it?? That way you can see where the end is and don't have to go fumbling underneath or reach too far down (depending on positioning). *I* consider the underfeed to be the *wrong* way, so there!!!
  12. Reckon "reckon" must be British?? though sure sounds 'Merican. I use it, but I am bilingual (lol) so don't know where my speech came from most of the time. And I have used "Bless your heart" in the sense of thanking someone who has done something out of the ordinary, an unexpected kind deed. The Brit expression "no worries" just drives me crazy,...
  13. Then howinell did I pick that up in California. I "fix" dinner all time; sounds very crooked
  14. I don't have a Papa John's so cannot answer your poll, but kicked your post up to the top so that it will be seen.
  15. Oh yeah, and what about the people who walk acrost the street??
  16. I shoulda spoke up and said something. Last two times we couldn't get online hubby insisted it was the ISP's fault. The first time I said reset the router and he did, and minutes later it was working. Second time, he said no way it was the router (I can't crawl in to where the geniuses who built the house positioned it) and said to call the ISP. After...
  17. Do not get behind the wheel says she who can't even blow a breathalyser specimen Way to go; make the best of a bad situation.
  18. Youse guys are cracking me up!
  19. Two pet peeves, both associated with sport: ath-a-lete; and TV sports commentators down here announcing that someone is making his "day-boo" for the country. If you are going to use a french word, at least pronounce it right. OH, and also fill-it for fillet, while we're about it.
  20. A gluten challenge is when you have had a positive response to the diet, and then you resume eating gluten for 2-3 days and see how your body responds. If your symptoms come roaring back, you know they are from the gluten. Most doctors will recognize this as at least gluten intolerance, if not celiac, and will give you a diagnosis.
  21. No, not necessarily. I think it depends on the flour blend you use. I saw a cake recipe in our local newspaper that called for 450g flour, or 400g of Orgran gluten free flour (Orgran being a British brand). If you used the full measure of flour I think you probably would need more liquid because the gluten free flours (some more than others) seem to absorb...
  22. The reason they take biopsies is so they can look under the microscope for what they can't see with the naked eye. The first assumption you can make is that you haven't done too much damage to your small intestine. Until you get the biopsy results you can't make any other assumptions. However, I think your doc is dead wrong in telling you that with...
  23. Whoops, double post, edited out by Mushroom.
  24. Hi Lintenn, and welcome to the forum. It sounds like you are pretty clued in about celiac, and pretty much know the answers to whatever lingering questions you may have. You are correct that blood testing and biopsy would be pretty useless at this stage unless you were tp resume eating gluten for 2-3 months, which I can understand you could not tolerate...
  25. Hi and welcome to the forum. This is a problem I am currentlly faced with too. It seems there is potato starch in EVERYTHING. I just printed out an article from Karina's Kitchen on flour substitutions. She says: Match your flour weight. Sub sorghum with fine brown rice flour (medium to medium) for instance and heavier millet with heavier buckwheat...
