  1. My four year old goes to half day preschool, she eats breakfast at school, she had a pos blood test but a neg biopsy, her sister was pos on both. The four year old and I have decided to take her completely off gluten for 1 year and see if she feels better (her sister has been gluten-free for a year now so Kathryn fully understands the constraints of the diet...
  2. it looks fine to me. I didn't see anything questionable even.
  3. Thank God for you !!!!! you have officially removed stress from my life I can already feel my headache going away Thank you thank you thank you infinity
  4. 5. if you could post the ingredients I may be able to help.
  6. It looks like I am really late coming on to this thred, I joined the yahoo group for the SCD but it wasn't helpful at all. My husband is going on the SCD for his crohn's disease, and we thought it would be easier to switch the whole family (since half of us are gluten-free anyway) can someone email me some recipes. I am terrified that I won't be able to...
  7. I am not sure what that meant either. I hate it when I call the company or email them and they respond like that. I have heard that Hormel Chili with beans is gluten-free and it does say corn flour but it also says modified food starch so I worry, I can't seem to get ahold of them in the meantime I have been making homemade chili 1lb ground beef...
  8. thank you so much for posting, I have a friend who has DH and it isn't clearing up, I will pass this along to her maybe if she cuts the rice out for a while she will feel better.
  9. I have a new plan on how to deal with the candy this year, which may be totally not practical at all. I have memorized a wide variety of gluten-free candy and plan to only let gluten-free candy get into her bag. That way maybe I can avoid having to "take her candy away" this year. I will still have to double check it, but last year I didn't check it...

    ARCHIVED Tony Romas

thanks for the info. last time I had spoken with them they said they didn't have a gluten free list. good to know that they do now. *adds another restraunt to the list of places to eat when I don't wanna cook*
  11. I was vegan for 6 years before I got pregnant with my first kid and started having unbelievable cravings for chili dogs (I was in tears about it believe me) anyway my dr said that the enzyme thing is true but gave me some meds to make the shift back to eating meat easier but I was still sick as a dog for a few weeks although I don't know how much of that...
  12. I was just thinking about that the other day. I was vegan before I got pregnant with my first kid, so I was kinda already used to reading labels on everything I ate before I found out that my youngest daughter has celiac disease. My husband is wanting to go on the specific carbohydrate diet and my head was still spinning about how restrictive that one is...
  13. my daughter got a DH rash on her cheek once and I made a paste from corn starch and water and put it on there (completely edible) it really cleared it up fast (like 48 hours) I would put it on right before her bath and then wash it off in the tub at the end of the bath. you might call her DR though there are some prescription things that are gluten-free...
  14. he sounds interested, keep his spirits up about "potty playing" (that is what I call it when they mimic using the potty but don't actually use it) Explain that his tummy is sick and when it gets better he can use the potty all the time, but make sure he knows that if he wants to try that it is okay, and if he has accidents when his tummy is sick that it is...
  15. my daughter kathryn tests were weird and her doctor says that she "doesn't have it now but may develope it one day" and suggested that we keep her on a 'low gluten diet' and wait for her to get sick. I talked to Kathryn about it (she is 4) and she wants to do the gluten free diet anyway, she says the food tastes good and that way maybe she won't even...
  16. first how old is the kid? you can't force the issue, I tried with my kid when she was 2 and believe me if they aren't ready no amount of anything on your part will make it work I tried and tried and then I gave up, I just started reading her potty books and bought her panties and gave up on the training, one day after she turned 3 she came to me...
  17. remeber though that they still don't have to do anything about barley or rye so you will still have to read carefully. (I know you already know that, but if I didn't say it I would feel bad if someone got sick)
  18. yeah, we tested him and did the scope and everything last month. he had Iga but the biopsy was neg. his GI says that he wants to remove his colon because the crohn's has made it so inflamed that it is in danger of becoming obstructed. so we are getting a second opinion. My side of the family has celiac history, my grandpa was diagnosed at 78 just...
  19. the fact that you want to be helpful means a lot. I can tell you that one side of my family is very supportive of my daughter and the other side not so much. It hurts her feelings when people who love her don't try to be understanding. One thing that is really important is whenever there is a family function with food ask if there is a way...
  20. I have run into similar problems with people. I have found that sometimes it helps to explain that it is a 'medical diet' and that he isn't like a health nut or something (I was accused of being a health nut once when I brought soy cereal for my kid and said no cheerios) If it is someone that you see often, you may sit down with them outside of the situation...
  21. that recipe is awesome, it sounds just like the stuffing my grandma used to make before she died. ( I never did get the recipe:() thank you for posting it. can I have your first name please? so that when I make it I can credit the recipe. I will only credit it to you if people are complimentary I promist
  22. thank you for the encouragement. I was starting to feel like I was blowing the whole thing out of proportion, the only person who agrees with my side (besides my grandpa) is my husband and that is only because he saw how sick my little girl got before she was diagnosed. I called his doctor today and explained what is going on, he is going to have a meeting...
  23. once I let Annika have a drink of chocolate milk from a restraunt before I checked it. turns out it had malt in it, and she broke out and had diareha for like 3 weeks I felt sooo bad. we have all been there. I am so sorry that it happened to you, it is stressful, and emotionally painful to see your kid sick and know you (or another adult) could have...
  24. At walmart back in the craft section near the cake pans they have a "wedding cake frosting" that is gluten free (double check to make sure though) I usually just make my frosting with crisco, powdered sugar, vanilla, food coloring and milk. I don't have actual measurements I just play with it until it looks/tastes good.
  25. Thank you all. I thought that I was unreasonable or something(it has happened before ) I will continue and try not to let my anger for this person let me take it out on other people. I have made a decision that if people have a problem with Annika's diet then they don't deserve our company. Last year my family refused to get a gluten free turkey at Thanksgiving...
