ARCHIVED Been Gluten Free Now Need To Go Dairy Free
AliB replied to clnewberry1's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am gluten, dairy and yeast free too and have had health issues for over 35 years. I realised very rapidly after going gluten-free that it was only part of the picture and that I hadn't really been able to tolerate dairy very well for years, or carbs either, so I have had to cut right down on those too. I went gluten-free and DF around the end Jan... -
ARCHIVED Leaky Gut Causes Gluten Intolerance?
AliB replied to Yoekie's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I too was very gluten and egg intolerant nearly a year ago when I first picked up on the gluten connection - in fact there was very little my digestion could cope with, but gluten-based carbs, carbs in general and eggs were definite no-nos. As my gut has been healing through being on the SCD over the last 9 months gradually I have been able to introduce... -
It may be highly likely - although they are both highly processed, the oil is processed in a different way to the milk so there could be some chemical or changed element in the procedure that affects him. Personally I would rather avoid anything with processed soy of any kind in it. Although soybeans used in the traditional way by the Japanese of soaking...

ARCHIVED Dedicated Scd Recipe Thread
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Dawn, I wonder if those crackers would work just as well if the mixture was pressed into a baking tray then cut gently into squares before baking. The business of putting it into cardboard rolls seems to over-complicate things! It would only make tiddly crackers too. I think I would rather press the mixture into a tray, or two, depending on the quantity... -
ARCHIVED Leaky Gut Causes Gluten Intolerance?
AliB replied to Yoekie's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
The fact that you have allergies or intolerances themselves are a good indicator of the Leaky Gut - unless the proteins and undigested food particles can get through the gut wall you would not have any reactions. The supplements in themselves seem pretty reasonable for encouraging recovery although some of them can be very expensive depending on where... -
ARCHIVED Candida Related? Doctor's Stumped
AliB replied to ilikepie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I don't know where you have heard the conflicting information about the SC diet from - I have only seen and heard good things and certainly have been benefitting from it myself. Honey may be an issue. Although it is allowed on the SCD some have found that they don't start to recover until they cut that out too. The main problem is that most honey we... -
ARCHIVED Leaky Gut Causes Gluten Intolerance?
AliB replied to Yoekie's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
There is quite a lot of credence to Leaky Gut Syndrome and I also believe that a permeable gut contributes to intolerances and allregies, but we have to be careful as there is an awful lot of stuff out there that is a waste of money. What are you taking? What quantities? For how long? The D certainly suggests that something may well be clearing out... -
ARCHIVED Candida Related? Doctor's Stumped
AliB replied to ilikepie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I think I am going to have to do another standard post to copy and paste into this and similar threads that pop up all the time - a dollar for every answer and I'd be a rich woman...... If your favourite plant is suffering, it is no good painting the leaves green. You have to change the environment for the plant. If you have fed it and watered it and... -
Unless you can deal with the damage to your gut properly, you may well find that the intolerances will just spread from one food to another - first gluten, then corn, then soy, then........ I see this all the time on here where people have developed intolerances to more and more foods and are incredibly frustrated. My belief is that a lot of our health...

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
So Sherry you think that the oil pulling is helping? Does your mouth feel better - less plaque etc.? Did you have a problem with halitosis and has it helped that? I am interested in the outcome because of having a mouth like a sewage pit every morning which is pretty obviously to do with Candida or its ilk. How long have you been doing it so far? ... -
Many of us suffer with different food intolerances and allergies - they are not going to necessarily be exactly the same as yours, but that doesn't matter. We all react differently because we are different. We all react slightly differently because we have issues with different foods. We all react differently because we are dealing with slightly differing...

So many think that as long as you are not eating gluten you will be ok. It doesn't work like that. Although some may manage to get by with just gluten removed, for many of us it is far more complex than just that. The original understanding of Celiac was that it was down to an inability to digest carbohydrates in general, and for many that is certainly...

Hi LL. The Specific Carbohydrate Diet is based on good basic food groups - meat, fish, poultry, veggies, fruit, nuts, raw honey and plain live yogurt for gut flora restoration. It removes grains and starches that contribute to the gut damage and encourage rogue bacteria, yeasts and parasites. Anything processed or 'mucked about with' is not permitted...

You don't have to absorb something to react to it. If you are particularly vulnerable just being in the same room with an antagonist is enough. I used to get an anaphylactic reaction to fruit of the peach family - even cutting them up for the kids was enough to trigger a reaction (I don't know if it will still happen as I haven't had any dealings with...

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi all, thanks, I'm fine now and things are generally back to normal. Sherry I have answered your question about the crackers on the recipe thread. Dawn, I have a crystal too and would not use anything else now. They can be a bit expensive but last for ages - I bought my last one over 5 years ago and it still has at least another 2 or 3 years worth... -

The crackers can be a little crumbly Sherry, I think they have to be thick enough - if they are too thin they will definitely crumble. Did you add enough water - I find they need about 4 tablespoons in that mixture - sorry, I wasn't too clear on that. Did you add much parmesan? I think they need a bit to help stick together - if parmesan is a problem... -
ARCHIVED Don't Think That Candida Is An Issue?
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am sorry, I totally disagree with that. Systemic Candida infestation is well-documented. Reference is made by many sites and publications that are not selling anything - I only posted that particular site because the information was very comprehensive. I did say that I do not endorse anything they sell. Based on my fairly extensive knowledge of Candida... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
On another note I had a bit of a fright yesterday. On going from having raging D with the IBS before going gluten-free and then SCD I am now going a bit the other way. I don't know why. I have been having the smoothies and thought that the extra fiber would get things moving - maybe I just am not having enough water with it - I don't know, but anyway... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Elaine (Gottschall) listed the SCD foods as 'illegal' and 'legal' because she recognised that deviations from the diet would slow down or even halt the progress. I have not been as disciplined with the diet as I would have wished and I know that it has slowed down the healing process. I have to say that I have not found the diet to be much, if any,... -
ARCHIVED Pounding Heart Rate After Drinking Fruit Juice
AliB replied to celiacker's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
The blood sugar will plummet after drinking pure juice. The sugar shoves the blood sugar up so fast that the liver can't cope with it. It chucks out a load of insulin to offset it and the blood sugar will then dive. Doing that several times a day will send the blood sugar into yo-yo mode and will, if the diet is not adjusted to stop that happening, result... -
If your gut was healed you likely would not have the issues with fruit. Gradually over the years I lost the ability to tolerate most fruit apart from an occasional banana, but over the last 9 months since I have been on the Specific Carb Diet and my gut has started healing properly I have gradually been able to reintroduce more fruit. I can now eat bananas...

I agree very much about the sugar. I have just been reading about it. It is evil stuff. In its pure form as molasses, raw honey, maple syrup, etc., and in the form that is in fruit and vegetables it is full of nutrients and enzymes and is beneficial, but in the refined form it is evil. It robs the body of essential nutrients, encourages pathogens like...

I find meat difficult too, especially beef and pork. I am ok with turkey, chicken and fish, but the heavier meats just sit in my stomach going nowhere. Many of us suffer with low stomach acid. I have started taking Betaine HCI with pepsin with each meal and it is helping. When my digestion first collapsed and I went gluten-free, I could hardly cope...

Rachel--24 is quite the expert on chelation if you PM her. I am undecided about that - I think there are herbs and elements that we can use to help the body rid itself of unwanted stuff, but I also feel the the most important thing is to get the body well, boost the immune system, cleanse the liver and well, just give the body the tools it needs to do...

The Medical Profession dismisses Candida and generally deems it of no consequence. Yet many who are Celiac/Gluten Intolerant are plagued with it. Many more don't even know they have it and are completely oblivious that it is Candida that is causing their health issues. I am not endorsing any products or services that they sell but the following article...
