ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut

I agree with Shay. You don't need dairy. Ironically, the nations who drink the most milk also have the highest incidence of Osteoporosis. You might like to try your little one on the Specific Carbohydrate diet. Many of us who cannot tolerate either gluten or many other carbs are doing well on it. It is a healing diet, not for weight-loss. There...

ARCHIVED Candida - Itching After Rice Cakes
AliB replied to MELINE's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Meline, I did the Alkalizing diet about 18 months ago and I had to stop it after 5 weeks because my stomach got so sore and painful. I went all out - got the pH drops and the Green Drink powder and all - it cleared up the Candida pretty well and my IBS went away, but I couldn't keep it going. At the time I thought that I may have had too much veg... -

'Nuvver interesting article about Neem - Shay, I am hooked! Open Original Shared Link Gonna get some dried leaf so that I can get it into my mouth and down rather than capsules. It sorts out Ulcers - Dawn, it's got to be worth a try surely??? It is also used to treat Diabetes - I am especially interested in that aspect. I have found some on Ebay... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Interesting article about Neem......... Open Original Shared Link Think I'll get some............... I was thinking about that article by Natasha McBride that I posted. She feels that the problem lies with not enough stomach acid - yes for many that may be true, but I actually think that the problem starts in the mouth. I don't know about... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
This is a post I have just put on the 'Related Disorders' section - I thought it might interest you Kristina from the point of view that it may have a lot to do with your gas and bloating (and anyone else with the same of similar issues). It is very interesting info. A lack of stomach acid raises further and more serious implications. It is a barrier... -
ARCHIVED Body Ph Imbalance - Low Stomach Acid
AliB replied to MELINE's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
A lack of stomach acid raises further and more serious implications. It is a barrier against harmful microbes from anything we put in our mouth. Without that protection, those pathogens can get through to the intestines and set up home. Once they are in there they can trigger symptoms in any part of the body. As Natasha continues... She recommends... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Tired Of "celiac" Vs "gluten Sensitive"?
AliB replied to mhb's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Why is it also such a stretch to conclude that the reactions that people get may not also be due to bacteria? During their digesting process bacteria throws out many and varied different kinds of toxins or by-products. Some will create gas through the fermentation process, some will create alcohol/ethanol, others give off distinctive aromas (think methane... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
The SCd undoubtedly would still help you even if you do have a mass. People have found all sorts of things disappear when they have been following the SCD for a while. I hope you find out what it is and are able to get it dealt with - I also hope you don't have to have an operation. Could the mass be a blockage in your colon or is it higher up than that... -
If anyone is still having sleep/nightmare issues even after dropping gluten, please check out the Specific Carbohydrate diet (SCD). There is a thread on the 'Other Food Intolerances' section. Many of us who have still been suffering with health issues even after removing gluten actually have a problem digesting carbs. The SCD works because it removes...

ARCHIVED Major Sleep Disorders And Celiac
AliB replied to citykatmm's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I agree with Chaty - for anyone who still has sleep issues, check out the SCD - it does work. I realised shortly before my digestion collapsed that my years of restless sleep and restless legs were down to my digestion although I didn't know why. When I dropped the gluten and dairy, it went away. I still get it occasionally if I have eaten something... -
ARCHIVED Desperate To Sort This Out
AliB replied to Spunky007's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Yup, I'm with Pele there - you are absolutely completely and definitely NOT alone. There are thousands struggling with similar issues. Many are discovering the Specific Carb Diet (SCD) and getting better. It is not a weight loss diet, it is a healing diet. There is plenty to eat - it just cuts out the foods that are contributing to the gut dysbiosis... -
Me too Shay - but then I am pretty skeptical of anything Medical Science discovers! They seem to get a lot more wrong than they ever get right - all they ever seem to do is to be desperately looking for the next panacaea - regardless of whether it works or not - as long as it brings in the dosh......

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Chaty - that is wonderful. It is so greatly encouraging and uplifting when different ones are able to see such an improvement for the first time in years. Well done you........ (Just wish I could put your comment at the top of all the forum sections so that those both old and new who keep posting about their continued health problems could see it... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
What you eat foods with can make a big difference on how the stomach reacts to it. I have been reading today in the 'Raw Food Detox Diet' about how the stomach digests different foods. Fruit ideally should be eaten on its own. It is the fastest off all the types of food to pass through the stomach - most between 20 - 30 minutes, bananas a little longer... -
ARCHIVED Multiple Allergies And Growing:
AliB replied to Gerri's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Whilst we are still eating the foods that are encouraging the rogue bacteria/yeasts/whatever and our body as the host environment is still in a state that encourages it then we will not get better. We have to change our diet and the environment in order to allow the gut to heal. We have this major problem. Because our Western world is so glutted... -
ARCHIVED Dedicated Scd Recipe Thread
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thought I would post my method of making fresh coconut milk. Take your coconut and pierce the soft eye and one of the harder ones if poss and make a hole in the soft one. Tip up over a cup to drain. When it has emptied, put the coconut in a fairly strong plastic bag and have a great time smashing it on a hard surface. When it is in pieces, use a sharp... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
AliB replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks for the laugh Pells - I absolutely agree with you that this Cholesterol hype is a load of twaddle. The Diabetic doc I have just parted company with offered them to me when I had hardly got through the door - my level was 3.8. If that is high, what the heck is normal! I told him where he could put his statins (figuratively speaking you understand... -
ARCHIVED Scd Diet Or Paleo Diet?
AliB replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Just where you have posted your topic is an ongoing SCD thread that quite a few of us who are following the diet encourage each other on - please feel free to join in. It is good when you are doing something radically different to the 'norm' to have that moral support. we are up to 61 pages so far and still going !!! Ali. -
When I can get decent fresh coconuts!!??? I have had to take the last three lots back to Tesco as they were nasty. Anyway, if you can get decent ones - don't get them if the eyes look black as they may be contaminated with mould - pierce the soft eye and one of the harder ones if poss and make a hole in the soft one. Tip up over a cup to drain. When...

Oh, absolutely. Quite a few use goats milk for the yogurt. If you check out the SCD thread on the 'Other food Intolerances' section you will see that several make it with coconut milk too, like Artgirl who loves it. I make my own coconut milk and it is gorgeous although I have never tried making yogurt with it personally. Interestingly though, some...

Wondering about the stomach ache - have you been tested for Helicobacter? I do wonder when we change the diet whether it gets the 'ump and starts rebelling, and it may be that that is causing stomach discomfort. My stomach discomfort seems to be at the front so I have taken to taking some probios a few minutes before I lay down at night then turning on...

The SCD works because it removes the carbs and sugar that feeds the yeast. Unless we change the environment within the body, we will not get any lasting relief. Things like Diflucan and Nystatin will only work on a temporary basis and may end up with the bacteria becoming resistant to any further treatment. Use things like Caprylic Acid but also make...

As Riceguy said, Candida is a systemic issue. If you have external signs then they indicate that the problem is coming from inside. Dandruff, athlete's foot, jock itch, thrush etc., are all indicators that the system is rampant with yeast and that the body is in a state that is supporting it. Things like antibiotics coupled with the high-sugar, high...

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Tired Of "celiac" Vs "gluten Sensitive"?
AliB replied to mhb's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The problem lies in the fact that although gluten-free removes gluten, it does not remove other foods that may be contributing to continued damage. Granted, the damage may not be particularly obvious in some people but it may still be there - a biopsy may show that the villi have healed, but is highly unlikely to pick up evidence of Leaky Gut damage which...
