ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
tom replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I did it myself back in jan '06 just outside Tucson. Can't remember her name. Grrrr Went looking for more info, and was surprised at how little there was of the type I wanted. I said he may as well find out, too, but the tarnalberry strong challenge. Someone I don't know posted after me to try a little, but that can too easily cloud the results.... -

No one ever called me an amateur botanist but aren't some plants fine w/ taking a piece (aaaaargh I think I know what term I want to use, but it's stuck) that'll grow into a full, cleaner plant? Not a graft is it? I was thinking something else. That would feel like the same plant to me. -

Hey hey Jin u post-combining lunatic!! Hehehe 1st, I've seen too much talk of comida to not weigh in. Carniiiiiiiiiiiiitaaaaaaaas!!!!!!! And I used to use Chile Verde as my "test new place" dish. Mmmmmm comes w/ torts for a build-yer-own feast. <drool> Hope they're not the mindbending numbing type. Good luck dealing w/ the bug... -

Well, Ben, for sure. But Rinne'll be MUCH MORE famous than Jerry. (He's almost never recognized outside of New England) Oh wait - who's the bigger one? -

I did an ELISA test that was helpful. The Lab I used has since changed their name but in '04 they were York. Donna! I wonder if I saw u sing! :D :D :D :D :D :D I'd always stop to listen, but only went once in the last few yrs. -

OOOOOOoooooooooohhhhhhhh <slaps self on head> Well, phew then cuz I'm not often gonna write even more. Posts never seem overly long to me while reading what ppl actually typed. <ctl> C But writing more than 2 paragraphs and "I got blistahs on mah fingahs!!!". Well no, but maybe I'd rather read than write. Always hated Composition... -

Ahhh thx Carla. When I went gluten-free I certainly improved but got nowhere near good enough to go back to a life. How long did the good part last, if u don't mind me asking? Of course, being here, Lyme will be the 1st thing I want to check if I start going downhill again. I've considered getting pre-emptive tests. Maybe I should just go ahead... -

It is a tearjerker. Award-winning. Everyone here has seen only how I can be at my best. Just last month, half the time I'd barely get thru the conversation one has for a minute w/ the cashier, in that previously (for me) awkward forced miniscule piece of interaction. Yesterday I may have been the most fun customer of their shift at the bank, trader joe... -

Whoa!!! Xmas in The Park!!! That park (Plaza de Cesar Chavez) is as well-used an urban space as any could be!! Have u done the Xmas part since the moved the skating rink to in front of the Art Museum? (FYI to non-californians: it's nowhere near cold enough for an ice rink but w/ liquid nitrogen-filled tubes under the ice it's awesome!!) And the nearly... -

That WAS a quick pop-thru!! Bet no time to read my tribute to the Nuggets w/ Almonds. (Huge LOL at the read-back find of u keeping the bag at brother's house btw ) Ok then Pseu-zun - while admitting limited knowledge of BP, the ups&downs are gonna happen while zero treatment is attempted, right? (I guess that's rhetorical, since it sounds... -

Well doesn't THAT thought bring a smile to this soy-free & hopeful face! Thx!!!! The monsoons here sure aren't what they used to be. Even an article in paper recently discussing the reasons. I only read headline tho - I'd read it if I were planning to stay. Phx much hotter than Tucson. While T is further south (2/3 of the... -

Hehehe LOL Andrea Any and all replies are appreciated. It's gotta be 80-90% SJ but so far the guys I'd get a house w/ can't until maybe late Aug. So I'd prob then want a few weeks in Portland (w/ sister) instead of Phx in Aug. I've been to Portland enough to know the gloom. Summer has many good days tho. Of course, it's all dependent... -

Hi everyone, I'm very interested whether anyone has any experience/insight into what I call the "Algernon Effect". I made reference to it in a post on the sillythread then felt the need to expand. And it's way too serious for over there even tho I DID sneak a couple jokes in. I *thought* I was going to try to explain A.E. in a short post. (No... -

Yay a new post!!! And LOL I was just popping in to post to YOU nikki, that you'd be proud - I just used "sodding" in another thread. Open Original Shared Link Ahhhh the dreaded Algernon Effect. I've been meaning to post about it in OMG but what I wrote got so off-track & extremely lengthy I didn't want to post it. Short version... -
ARCHIVED Talk Of Making Carry Out Containers Out Of Wheat Starch?
tom replied to angel42's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I do agree w/ tarnalberry about the "in theory". In practice it won't be as it was in theory. Starch purity and gluten ppm won't even be as high as the middle of the list of concerns to the plant mgr and/or beancounters when making a sodding container, imho. I'd read about this quite awhile ago - maybe in '04. Since then I've seen articles talking... -

I like this answer very much. W/ hopes of not being seen as obsequious, I'll even call it brilliant. You ARE in a very unique position. Ready and willing to go back on gluten around here is Hope Diamond rare. It could result in the most significant datapoint in your entire health history - regardless of which way it falls. I say go for it and... -

I know some ppl swear by them. They must be helping someone or they wouldn't be around at all. I just wish the technique could pass a double-blind experiment. If u know of such a study, pls post a link. Thanks. -

Yay another datapoint for me. I'm also pretty sure 365 has citric acid. I got the can of Crushed Tomatoes for Giada's Fish Florentine recipe and it was terribly hard to even find the Muir Glen, which at a minimum isn't the *same* mold-origin citric acid. Now I feel like I just better try it before I move. I belong in San Jose. Well, maybe Portland... -
