ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
tom replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Wow slow Sunday in Rachelville! I think I did too much today - not that much by most standards - and am more slow-brained than any time since soy-free except for that 2am insomniac post. Luckily still felt good at sax-playing time! Oh, I mentioned something to Pseu-tze that she . . .. .hmm is insisted the right word? . . . . .lets... -

My GOODness Jin! Don't u cover a lot in one post!!!!!!!! I've looked into Leaky-Gut a ton and never heard about day-to-day variation like that. How about the possibilty that the source of the problem was consumed the day before? Or the day before that? It happens. Donna mentioned hers in another thread earlier today. Tho I can't directly... -
ARCHIVED What Basics Should I Stock Up On

I'd agree w/ most of what's been said, but I didn't see anyone say Quinoa flour, or Quinoa flakes. The flakes are *perfect* for a fish breading. At my current WhF, they's next to the flours. But at my prev WhF, they were w/ stuff like Cream of (ack! I can barely finish typing it) Wheat (phew!). Quinoa flour makes for a nice nutty-ish but not quite flavor... -
ARCHIVED Chronic Headache?
tom replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well MINE were from food inolerances, I'm certain. Daily headaches of varying degree for yrs. And broken down further, it'd be very rare to get even a 1/4 day without. None right now tho or for most of the past week. I quit soy the week before. -

I'd been wondering whether I'd dingo'd T's age! Glad u wrote it. If she *really* REALLY wants nutbutter is hazelnut a possibility? Maybe a new type infrequently wouldn't hop to the Bad column so quickly. -

Oh daa-yum, that's no fun at all. I can't have corn, but rice etc are fine. I'm pretty sure the corn problem was induced by leaky gut tho. So the day should come when it's ok again. <tom posts while @ sunflower market> -
Yes. 1) Find a good Naturopath. (N.D.) 2) Look into Candida overgrowth also. It's soooo very common in recovering celiacs who have leaky-gut. The diet is daunting to say the least, but for me it became a breeze after day1 because I felt good for the 1st time in years!!! I don't think the leaky-gut / increased intestinal permeability can heal until...

I'm sure it can be true in many cases and it makes perfect sense but going by the 'family' used in biological classification, wheat is in the same family as corn, rice, millet, sorghum, wild rice etc. I think between Family and Species is Genus, which would then be what wheat, rye & barley share. I'm changing avatar again to a chart displaying... -

Ahhhh it got named!! I thought pomegranate would get to represent w/ at least ONE syllable! [scottishAccent] "Look out Cap'n, I think she's gonna BLOW!" [/scottishAccent] Love the new avatar - but I see a dangerous chick in a martial arts stance. ("I'm like a stepping razor, better watch your step - I'm Dangerous! So Dangerous!"... -

Not ME!! I truly prefer my almond butter. I did grow up w/ PB, and as an adult used to completely love my PB on toast. Everything about it. The smell, the 'mouth-feel', the partly melty parts on the hot toast, the anticipation of first bite w/ the crunch of good bread toasted, even the sound. But that was then. Now I my almBtr. It would certainly... -

It's not that far-fetched that the office or wherever has an environmental irritant, either causing symptoms itself or just acting as some sort of catalyst, allowing the bad foods to have more effect. Or somehow changing your gut's environment or the state of your immune system, leading to even just one of the foods' effects to be more drastic, which could... -

Only a potential problem if it breaks. If it does break, open enough windows to get airflow for the bit of vapors & clean up the glass & bit of dust w/ "disposable materials", so not a towel that you'll keep. One CompactFluorescentLightbulb (CFL) has ~ 1/100 of the merc in an amalgam filling. Do not vacuum it! And use sticky tape... -

Yes - I'll add my HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURA!!!!! too!! Laura, I don't think u were visiting Rachelville much when I 1st crossed town limits a couple weeks ago. I hope it wasn't from feeling too poorly to sit at the comp. Bet the gluten-free cake was good!!! -

Cuz the test provided no suitable amount of reliable information? Going back to the 'marble in a box' & not knowing what color it is. Narrowing it down to "it can only be black or white" still doesn't make a correct guess any more likely than flipping a coin. I know nothing of the actual test we're talking about, but I do know science's methodology... -

No matter who writes it, I'm not sure I'm comfortable w/ stories that have references to possible pedophilia. <blegh> Might be editing time. -

I had to google Auxigro to verify it wasn't only from your story!! "They snuck"? Who? The geese? See why I had to google? My impression of the definition of Intolerance is no permanent damage, tho I'm not bettin' my life on it. Something that can do more, like anaphylactic(sp?) shock, is an allergy. Nothing will ever make ME... -

Sounds like an awful big clue to me! To me, in your situation, a big clue is great news. There must be something u did different than a typical day. This is where a food/symptom diary's value is undeniable. If I had some rare-ish symptom combo that I last had while out somewhere 3 wks ago, I could read from both days and find commonalities as easy as... -

Omg I now have to tell a little story that should elicit some "awwwwwww"s from this estrogen-filled bunch. There's an old girlfriend of mine who I'm still close with and she has two daughters I love dearly whom I've known all their lives. When the elder Nicole was 2.5-3 or whenever a kid 1st discovers they *do* have at least one small bit of power over... -
