  1. OMG I practically daydream about good mustard. I used to usually have 3 or 4 varieties on hand. No yellow kidstuff either. I haven't heard of any to buy or a way to make it. I have made mayo tho. Using lemon juice. It was quite good too.
  2. While I know it's true ataxia can come along w/ no relation to celiac, it's also one of the many non-GI conditions that celiac can cause. I guess the cause doesn't matter as long as it's GONE! YeeeeeeeeeeeeHA!

    ARCHIVED Butter

Ahh yes I've choked on a few . . . BUT. . . some people's issues are just w/ cow's milk. I had a FANtastic goat gouda a while back. It was from holland (might even have Dutch in the name) & I think at Whole Foods. Aha it's Polder Blanc.
  4. Well I was surprised I could put *anything* up, first of all. I've been doing all my surfing on a phone. Had this shot on it to use as wallpaper. It's Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur, CA. (Not to be confused w/ Julia Pfeiffer-Burns State Park). I'm pretty sure that famous Liz Taylor love scene on the beach was filmed there. Wish I was sure of the movie name...
  5. Oh yeah! Swiss Cheese Incident!! I think they play The Catalyst next month! Hehehee j/k And maybe this provides an opening for what's been befuddling me. Is "to rachel" something just to scarf a lot of whatever - or does the whatever have to be something u know u shouldn't eat?
  6. Mia, I'd taken notes from another thread. For C, some liked Miralax and tarnalberry said magnesium helps.
  7. I'm surprised u didn't hire a couple gondoliers to "beat that" outta ya w/ their poles! But why am I not more surprised that u kept a running total?
  8. I'm entirely in favor of daily bm(s), but in my experience, talking to most doctors about it is useless cuz the medical definition of C is none for 3 days! I used to feel soooooo crappy by day 3. I'm sure many of u can relate. And w/ leaky gut, the crappy is entirely literal. [blecch warning] Fecal matter gets in the bloodstream and to the brain and...
  9. Ohhhhhhh silly me - it WAS eating nothing at all and whether there was THAT reaction. Well, I sure didn't have any die-off from one day. I thought the beasties could survive a day w/ no food as easily as I could. But someone else said that they DID have die-off in the 1st 2 or 3 days anyway, if I'm remembering right.
  10. OMG Lisa what a day u had. So glad you're better now. All that was from the fillings replacement process? What an emotional swing for the reader w/ your story right after the spinaching. My cheeks still hurt from that, but the face is dead serious. Is there something different the dentist should've done? At the least, it makes me think if I eventually...
  11. Omg this cracked me up and brought back some memories. An old girlfriend (2 actually, but 1 much more drastically) would have a sudden desire to get ..ahem.. 'romantic' during a game - and somehow in proportion to how big the game was. It went so far that if the big game was the late game, I'd feign massive interest in whatever the early game was. lmao...
  12. I wanted to post some kind of answer to this but I realize I'm not sure I understand the question. Wanna rephrase it?
  13. While the grass itself doesn't have gluten, there's no way I'd ever trust anyone's manufacturing to not have some grain in there somewhere sometimes. It's just not worth it to me. Did u get a reaction?
  14. Jim, So . . . . u saw my 50 other posts huh? LOL Good to hear you're doing better. Can't argue w/ a 180. The worst part about the depression I think is that it can make ya forget what it's even *like* to feel good. I have a theory about the landscape of brain chemistry where it can become physiologically impossible to imagine or remember what...
  15. Yikes, I'd seen the cc talk re: Amy's but never connected it to my fav sauce. I think every time I saw the talk it was about the frozen dinners etc. For pasta sauce I love Amy's Org Roasted Garlic. No sweeteners either. So many organic sauces include evap cane. For tomato sauce & canned tomatoes I'm another Muir Glen fan.
  16. Ugh I wouldn't dare trust wikipedia for anything important. Citric Acid as an ingredient has nothing to do w/ citrus at least 99% of the time. I did see one label somewhere that specified "citric acid (naturally derived)" recently, so that might involve citrus fruit. The typical citric acid manufacturing process includes the fermentation of whichever...
  17. Oh sweet! I'm not ready for a game yet - was just shootin around a little. Used to play in games 3-4x/wk b4 1st getting sick. Pretty often for a guy in late 30s. The whippersnappers seemed more energetic every year. It's good to hear you can play again. Helps give me more hope. (But can ya "leap over a small forward for a single reBound"? Hehehhe)
  18. Have u looked for possible changes in seemingly innocuous things like replenished vitamins or medications or a prescription switched to generic? I got screwed on one of these once. It was in my mind as 'safe' so I didn't even consider having to verify again. Sick for 2 weeks before tracking it down. Or maybe a new lipstick that's not gluten-free. Even...
  19. Many many celiacs who were symptomatic before going gluten-free have candida overgrowth, which makes ANY vinegar problematic. The candida symptoms are often masked by the more severe celiac symptoms. There are some Amy's gluten-free & vinegar-free dressings but I never thought they were near as good as those I make myself. Usually evOliveOil...
  20. Well I did see 2 ppl write "baseball"! Good luck w/ all the upcoming appts! Wow mia - 4 or 5 in 1 week?! Sounds like that deserves a "yay!" Jin, I've been under the impression that the untreated celiac's gut battleground's collateral damage CAN be the sole cause of leaky gut, but more often than not, there's also candida overgrowth. So that clouds...
  21. I think I know why. It starts w/ the common leaky gut. Healthy intestinal walls have tinier spaces between cells. When those spaces expand, there's room for partially digested food particles to sneak thru to the bloodstream. Once there, everybody's like "hey who's the new guy" and antibodies are made to protect against the foreign invader. If fully...
  22. Ugh bummer on the bread. But I always enjoy a well-placed "usurious".
  23. Well I was an adult and in really sad shape, but I was having fewer symptoms w/in a week or 2 I'm pretty sure. Actually I was out of it enough that I couldn't testify to that. But by 2 months I know I was incredibly better, tho still had much recovery ahead. I don't know how different it is w/ kids, but to me it sounds like there are other issues. Best...
  24. Hey maybeihave, I guess I posted in the wrong thread. Bummer that there were 2. U saw it tho right?
  25. Hey akJenny! Hope the deprivation diet's going ok. I read today that the King salmon are running Ship Creek right thru town! Hope your husband can get one, even tho it'll probably be combat fishing. I was never a fan of that. Still, some of those are 40-50 lbs. At my local Whole Foods that'd be >$400 of filets easy - even if only 25lbs of filets...
