I was gluten-free 10 mos b4 going casein-free also. It was only then that i began to enjoy eating again. Previously, no matter how good the food was - even a fav food - eating was just a chore and 2 bites in i was ready to be done. -
I think casein can cause more than just quick-and-over symptoms, but certainly nothing of the magnitude of the damage done by gluten. I've been gluten-free a yr and Gluten-free Casein-free 2.5 months. I use Silk brand soymilk in everything - coffee, cereal, and just drinking. I've found sugar to be a problem for me now, and i too hope it lessens as the villi heal. The only sweet products i eat now are some gluten-free cookies which use one of the many 'natural' sweeteners, e.g. dehydrated unfiltered cane juice. Seems a little strange that making actual table sugar (from sugar cane anyway) might start by dehydrating some cane...

I think Hornsby's is one of the few hard ciders that are NOT gluten-free, tho i'm not positive where I'd read that. I have the same machine and just use the RapidWhite setting. I do plan to use the programming feature, and saw it outlinied in the instructions. Did yours not have an instruction book ?

My personal belief is that had i gone gluten-free years earlier i would have fewer add'l food problems. In other words, the more damaged the villi get, the more potential for other foods to not digest properly. Isn't the typical celiac lactose issue due to damge to the area of the villi which secretes lactase ?

Ahhh good u got a good loaf, glix. I was gonna say how Bob's is a 1.5 lb, not 1 lb. All of mine have turned out great w/ the same machine and mix. I don't even bother w/ the "egg-whites to make 3/4 cup" part (in addition to the 1 egg - fyi to other readers). I just toss in 3 eggs and haven't even mixed together the wet ingred, much less whisked them.... -
My diarrhea and nausea didn't go away until i also eliminated casein (another component of milk). I had thought that every GI would know to try going casein-free when diarrhea doesn't stop after being both gluten-free and using lactaid. There's no pill for casein tho, so it means going pretty much completely dairy-free. I'd thought I'd miss milk and cheese...

No idea if there are other ingred/problems w/ PediaSure, but i did find this. ( Open Original Shared Link ) Another thread says it contains casein, but you already mentioned no known dairy intolerance. -

Mine makes a big deal about having all ingred at room temp b4 starting, which i suppose could be more of an issue on a rapid cycle. I've found that rum will give me a headache but gin is fine. I think it's gotta be the sugar content somewhere in a liquor made from cane, tho i haven't really tried to find out any details; just stopped drinking it. Gorden's gin is allegedly still made the original way, starting w/ juniper berries, instead of the grain used in many. And Gin&Tonic...

I read a lot b4 buying one recently and every expressbake-type option i saw was accomplished by skipping 2nd knead/rise. So far i've made little mistakes 2 of the 3x i made bread, but it all turned out great. My paddle is small and w/ a 30-40 degree angle in it, and watching it work (lil window) i can't see what could be done better w/ a different paddle... -

Ya but i'm not sure if the Spanish manufacturers are paying attention to what the Vinegar Institute "seems to say". I'm sure it's probably fine. But the risk/reward ratio prevents me from just trying the artichokes. Sure, i'd like them a lot but the thought of potentially ingesting any gluten, no matter how little, plays on my greatest fear. I always vote to go gluten-free. Feeling better and better every day is hard to beat. The endoscopy looks for villi damage and the info i read when i 1st went gluten-free last year said it's 6 mo - 2 yrs for them to fully heal. Don't make yourself sick for a scope that can see damaged villi w/out making yourself sick. -

It's the one where no ingredients at all have any gluten-containing ingred. Parts b & c are where talk of a standard becomes relevant. A ppm number IS required here because it's allowing...
