ARCHIVED Why Is The Endomysial Antibody So Specific To Celiac?
tom replied to guest134's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I haven't gotten as far as I expected, but was curious enough to start looking into this. Isn't part of it because the antibodies are in a category of autoimmune antibodies, so that they don't show in ALL cases of tissue damage, but only in those where damage was caused by the AI antibodies? Then instead of being an effect or symptom of damage, if they... -

Is the phrase 'pipe dream' really just a prior way to say "What're you, high?" Half expected protestations on introducing Les Maths! I'm loving that Pads' paramount phlipover became an Event. Not that we have the authority, but if jerseyangel were promoted to jerseysaint it'd've been a real St. Paddeigh's Day, complete w/ sanctioned... -

Ooh this is a good one. Full text free, too. (Through the Am J Gastro link) How hard will it be to learn what "HLA-DR (the major histocompatibility complex class II molecules)" really means? Are there 'minor histocompatibility simple class I molecules'? -

Oh man! I was here alone @ 5:05, & now I'm 4 posts shy. It's been raining a bit; I better go check for weak spots in phlood defense. (Gorgeous day today actually, despite widely-televised rain in last night's baseball to the north) -

Aha! I'd probably second a call for a decree that biscuit be spelled biscuitte, but then baguette stands out like a sore thumb. -

"Put the biscuit in the basket" in sports can refer to a basketball player making scoring look easy as pie. True story. Then if it's also a swish, it's called a knish. Made-up story. -

Does that make a triscuit what I think it does? Geoss oughta put in a Yeti request. Spiderweb-clearing, tree-shakin', & long-reachin' are some of his specialties, according to the website. (Oh jeez .. .is it ok to post w/out the link? .. ..) Apples & pears yum but no peaches? I've been waiting 37+ years for "Really love your peaches, wanna shake... -
That sounds backwards to me. Cutting out enough to find what *doesn't* bother you, what you can safely eat every day is very important imho. Then you figure out which bother you by adding one at a time. Subtracting one at a time to figure out what bothers you can not only take far longer, but can also too easily lead to false conclusions based on non...

While continuing to ingest gluten? 100% certainly yes, except I suppose in what's called "silent celiac" - I'd suspect their condition worsens as well, but they don't notice via symptoms. Hi gnna, I'm not sure what to make of the tocopheral issues. It's not generally a problem for celiacs as far as I know. Hopefully someone w/ some experience w...

ARCHIVED Probiotics - Which Brand And Do I Have To Worry About Gluten?
tom replied to KnightRobby's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can't recall hearing of probiotics containing gluten. Wondering whether it might've been in a combo pill as opposed to a 'just probiotic'. They really can make a noticeable difference, can't they? I remember being glad to have something as clearcut as it was for me, otherwise buried in so many wishy-washy inconclusives re pills, treatments, other ... -

Your biopsy samples need to be examined under a microscope. What's seen or not seen w/ the naked eye isn't enough to rule out Celiac Disease. -

So we've got Doc, Happy & Grumpy so far? I've certainly known some more Bashful than warranted. As a Doc, I'd suppose "mistaken for Sneezy" is possible symptomatically. Who's left? P.S. You ladies are such a bad influence!!! -

Guess I've got to agree that googling it was a bad idea, because mine was a breeze & I've seen many many others here say either the same or that their throat was a little sore. It's a pretty common procedure . ...well both procedures I guess, whether together or separate. I'll flat out say I think those rare horror stories are even VERY very... -
