ARCHIVED Passover
savvvyseller replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Info on gluten-free matzohs can be found at the folllowing web site: Open Original Shared Link. Note on the site there is a list of U.S. distributors in major metropolitan areas. I purchased a box from the Philadelphia contact for $21/box. This also saves on shipping, which likely would turn the matzoh into farfel! I have two extra boxes of Lieber... -

ARCHIVED Real People Cereal
savvvyseller replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There is some concern that the "new" Cocoa Puffs" may not be gluten-free, in that the caramel color supposedly contains barley malt. I am getting mixed signals from General Mills on this issue, but I received this information from a local support group in NJ. -

Picked up gluten-free Cocoa Puffs at two different Targets in southern NJ - don't know if the roll-out is geographical. My guess is that they're probably waiting until it's national before changing the information on the website. The Trix were not yet gluten-free. -

General Mills just came out with Neopets Islandberry Crunch that is gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link Customer service confirms the company has clear labeling policy, so natural/artificial flavors do not contain gluten. -
Jimmy Buffett's Cheeseburger in Paradise chain of restaurants (co-owned by Outback) has added a gluten-free menu. They recently opened a location in Langhorne, PA (near Oxford Valley Mall) and I'm sure our son will love the ambience! Open Original Shared Link

In response to my recent inquiry, a public relations specialist for the parent company of Moe's Southwest Grill advised me last week that the entire chain should be gluten-free (with several exceptions) by the end of February. From her email: ". . . What this means is that we are changing the vegetable stock we are using to one that is free of gluten...

ARCHIVED Ted's Montana Grill.
savvvyseller replied to MySuicidalTurtle's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
We had a terrible experience at the new Ted's that opened in Philly a few weeks ago. The server was clueless about the diet, and we also had a number of non-gluten-free food issues. I spoke to the regional manager later, who advised that although the chain offers a gluten-free menu on its web site, the restaurants do not have a gluten-free menu and the... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Pizza In Doylestown, Pa
savvvyseller replied to savvvyseller's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Check out Open Original Shared Link in Doylestown, PA, outside of Philadelphia. It's been written up in the Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia magazine and featured on Good Morning America as leading the thin-crust trend. They added gluten-free pizza last fall (see the News section on their web site). Tonight we took our 5-year-old son, who really enjoyed... -
Open Original Shared Link recently has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia magazine and on Good Morning America for leading the new thin-crust trend while using organic ingredients. After reading the WSJ article, I went to their website and saw under the News section that they have introduced gluten-free pizza. We drove over an hour...

ARCHIVED Hoffner's Gluten Free Foods
savvvyseller replied to mamaw's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am a parent of a 5-year-old celiac. My son loves these cookies. They are the best gluten-free chocolate chip cookies I have tried (better than Mi-Del, Whole Foods, Pamela's) and taste better than some non-gluten-free cookies. We have also tried the chocolate covered sprinkle cookies and the vanilla wafers, both of which are very good as well. The... -
ARCHIVED Mi-del "chocolate Sandwich Cookies"
savvvyseller replied to celiac3270's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I seen, but not yet bought, the Mi-Del "oreo" cookies, mainly because they are labeled only "wheat-free," not "gluten-free" like their other cookies (arrowroot, ginger, choc. chip). I have tried calling the company but have not been successful in reaching anyone in the know. For now, we are sticking with the Glutano choc. sandwich cookies. I believe... -
ARCHIVED Gf Breaded Chicken Bites!
savvvyseller replied to Alexolua's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My son really likes these - unfortunately, I understand that the company stopped distributing them (hopefully, just temporarily) because the factory that made them closed. Both Whole Foods and Wegmans (which ran out of them) confirmed this. My wife called Wellshire Farms, which told her that they will hopefully start distribution again by the end of August... -
Open Original Shared Link is corporately owned by Outback Steakhouse (also, Carrabba's and Roy's). Their corporate chef advised that the company is updating its website to list the gluten-free items but provided this list in the interim: Gluten free foods: • All steaks are okay just to let you know they do come topped off with butter • The peppercorn sau...

ARCHIVED Mike And Ike Candy
savvvyseller replied to carleyq's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is from an e-mail response I received earlier this month: Thank you for your recent e-mail. We hope you enjoyed visiting www.justborn.com. All of our candies are derived from corn; therefore, to the best of our knowledge, they are gluten-free. The modified food starch we use in the manufacture of our jelly bean candies is corn starch. ...
