  1. some of those symptoms do sound like me.. i actually have a really bad cld at the moment and i was accused of "having an attitude" yesterday. Thanks for the suggestion
  2. Hows this: when you tell the registra that for the last week you have had chronic lower right abdo pain and he just looks at you as if to say "what do you expect me to do about it", then after cheking me over he looked at the wall and said to go to A&E if it carried on but it isnt anything to worry about . (go figure). Then 4 or 5 months later...
  3. i dont want to mask the pain.. i just need help to deal with it so i can get back to being the active person i once was.. ive had 3 years of sitting out in gym class and its getting a little frustrating, the walk is important to me because its to help cancer research UK and the childrens hosptal of Wales. Also its a vital part of the duke of ednibrugh award...
  4. I have been getting pain over my appendix/bowel area scince January and now im starting to get worried. The pain can last for weeks at a time, duting which it is constant and sharp. When it does go its only for a few days at the most. Ive seen my GP who said they were chasing up my peadi/GI.... but my next appointment isnt until July (we got the letter...

    Camping Trip

Im going camping soon Im going for an award called the Duke of Edinbrugh, should be fun but challenging, i have no idea what im going to eat though lol. We are going for 2 days and 1 night and have to split into groups and then fend for ourselves, we have to find the campsite ourselves, set up the tents, cook etc without any help, there will be teachers...

    ARCHIVED Camping Trip

All we will get is basic stuff like a tent, stove etc and theres a possiblity we will need to make a fire, but we dont know about that yet (because of health & safety) The whole point of it is we fend for ourselves, we split into groups and then its up to us to do everything, we will be walking quite a lot as well. I think we are camping in the middle...
  8. I'm going camping in July with my school for something called the Duke of Edinbrugh award and im stuck for ideas for food that will be easy to carry. A lot of the stuff i usually get needs to be cooked in a microwave and/or takes to long. I need quick simple food that will give me energy as well as tasting ok. All we can think of at the moment is tinned spagetti...
  9. Show your son this site, im 15 myself so i know his reservations, its difficult when you are reliant on gluten filled foods and at our age we dont have our brains wired up correctly yet and with all the changes to our bodies a diet change is the last thing we want although many of us need it. point him towards the teenage section here and give him this...
  10. They probably dont understand very much. My freinds were all like "well we used to share our food with you" when i told them i wasnt going to be giving them anything anymore and thought i was bonkers when i started reading all the labels to foods they (and i) had eaten in the past with no problems. Show them how much more your baking ingredients cost...
  11. Ive known i have hypercalcemia for a few months now, and at the time i was diagnosed i was told i seemed to be going against all the medical books my consultant had read, i had "sky" high TTG and IgA but negative biopsy and no symptoms, anemia which didnt seem to be caused by the coeliac (it was, but because there was no damage, he couldnt say it was definatly...
  12. I had the same problem in both of my shoulders and im 15 the physio also said that i had no ligament/muscle build up causing a lack of control. Im extremely thin and my jaw clicks too. In some cases the coeliac causes you to be thin and the thinness causes the lack of muscle, its because your body uses its reserves to keep itself working. In others...
  13. we now have a new doctor (as of about an hour ago) and they already seem better than the last ones, we havent even given them the registration forms but they have already given me an appointment- for Friday
  14. hey. Just relax your going to be fine, i didnt fall asleep in mine but i cant remember it anyway lol. Let the doctors do all the work and you'll be absolutely fine - theres really nothing to worry about. Some people do get a sore throat but that goes away really quickly.
  15. grumbling appendix is another name for 'chronic appendicitus', its not as dangerous as acute appendicitus but it is still painful and can make simple tasks painful eg running, lifting. The problem is doctors are reluctant to operate meaning all patients can do is hope that it goes away. It increases the danger of your appendix bursting so it would probably...
  16. ive been experiencing a lot of lower right abdomen pain recently, it started out as about once a month, around the same time of the month but recently its got worse and its becoming more frequent and unpredictable. My mother thinks it may be grumbling apendix (she had her appendix removed at 14 - a year younger than i am now- and my sister had grumbiling...
  17. I would say you have early stage coeliac, so keep going with the gluten free diet. It would be a good idea to cut out dairy for a few months and phase it back in later.

    ARCHIVED Doctors In Your Area

sorry to hear about your negative experiences, but dont loose faith, there are good doctors out there but unfortunatly it seems the situation has to get worse before it gets better. Try pushing for the op, you need it done and if they refuse to do it then that is malpractice because its causing your condition to deteriorate unnessacerally. I hope you...
  19. I was pretty much asymptomatic, the only thing i had was anemia which could of been down to anything (all the females in my close family had suffered with it at some point and none of them have coeliac). I found out because a locum doctor checked me for anemia then wanted to know why i was aneamic and so she checked for coeliac. Needless to say it came back...

    ARCHIVED Jabs

Im due to have my TB jab and some other boosters (tetnas, MMR etc) and i was wondering what is in them, does anyone know if they are safe?
  21. I was diagnosed in December and although already quite tall i fell behind some of my freinds.. but now ive caught up with them.. and taken over most.
  22. Thanks Ali. I dont know if their pearents are ill and it would be difficult to find out (Chloe and her sisters are adopted) I think Genna did improve but im not sure how much and i cant talk to her directly because i dont see her. I say to Chloe that she should of been tested when Genna testesd positive but i dont think she took that much notice. I feel strongly...
  23. Does sherbet contain gluten ive been refusing things from my freinds that have sherbet in them, just in case because some sites says it is gluten free others say its risky and some say not to touch it. Any help greatly apreciated - thankyou
  24. I think the difference is that coeliac is an auto-immune disease but intolerances arent, also i think there are different antibodies and levels of damage.. but i could be wrong on that. If it wasnt for all of this i probably wouldnt even think about working in peadeactrics but ive just heard too much suffering to sit back and not try to help the future...
