Ahorsesoul replied to latteda's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Patti, Thanks for that reminder. I have two of her cinnamon rolls in the freezer. Going to make some coffee first. -
ARCHIVED Frusterated With My Boyfriend
Ahorsesoul replied to princesskill's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'd question why you are with someone who does not respect you? You have a disease that requires you to avoid gluten. He should want you to be as healthy as possible. If he doesn't care enough to help you be healthy you may need to re-think this relationship. You deserve to be respected. -
ARCHIVED Good Gluten-free Pizza Crust?
Ahorsesoul replied to latteda's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I've finally found one I love. My dh also likes it and he does not even like pizza. It is thin pre-made and frozen but it is the best tasting I've found. Unfortunately they have restricted shipping. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED 6 Weeks Post Diagnosis And Reality Sets In......
Ahorsesoul replied to Sierra's Mommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have a brain injuried dd that I put on a gluten free diet. If we said she couldn't have this we'd always mention two of her favorite things she could have. I found that worked much better. It seems we are always saying no no no.... So I tried to balance it with some yes's. -
Hey, don't worry about dying from this disease. My father will be 90 next month. He's a celiac and has never followed a gluten free diet. Yes, he could be a lot healthier if he'd know to follow a gluten free diet but he's still up and running. Just try your best to follow a gluten free diet. I went 45 years before I found out I was a celiac and went gluten...

ARCHIVED Dd Left Out Of Snack Time During Passover
Ahorsesoul replied to RBPhill's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
IMHO it seems to me that this teacher just taught a lesson that to be Jewish you shouldn't be a Celiac. You dd should not have been punished. I hope she does not let this horrible incident guide her life. In the whole school you can't tell me that teacher couldn't have found one item your dd could have eaten. -
ARCHIVED Any Gardening Tips For A Beginner?
Ahorsesoul replied to purple's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Just do what makes you the happiest but do pull weeds daily. Weeds are really just compost waiting to happen. -
Yep, bring your own food. I always bring something that is my favorite and fill my plate when I set out my crockpot/bowl/pan. That way I'm sure I'll have something to eat. I know not to trust people when they say it's gluten free. A friend was so proud of her herself that she made me a "gluten free" salad. She said she checked all the ingredients and there...

ARCHIVED Any One Else Having Good Luck With 5 Guys?
Ahorsesoul replied to mattathayde's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've only eaten at 5 Guys once, two years ago. Had no problems. I'm still drooling just thinking about their food. Wish they were here in the Midwest. -
ARCHIVED How Do I Attend Family Brunch At Non gluten-free-friendly Hotel?
Ahorsesoul replied to Jenbirds's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Make sure to write a letter to the Corporate Headquarter of the company about the treatment you received from this place. If they don't hear from us, business places will not offer a solution. -
ARCHIVED Now Eating Less As Gluten Free
Ahorsesoul replied to anonymical7's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm sure before going gluten-free I was eating enough for several people because my body was not absorbing what it needed. I was always hungry. After eating that way for 40 years, I gained weight after going gluten-free, 60 pounds in a short time. So now that I'm gluten free I have to really work on portion control. -
ARCHIVED This Week's Gluten Free Menu
Ahorsesoul replied to RissaRoo's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips

ARCHIVED Signs In Infants? Poo Question!
Ahorsesoul replied to Lovemy4babies's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Both of kids poo look just like what you are explaining. Even after I stopped breast feeding it did not improve. Of course no one ever mentioned Celiac 30 years ago, lactose intolerance yes, not nothing about gluten. Now that Celiac is better know, I am Celiac, both my kids, I'm sure my father is and my brother's family is thinking of being tested. -

Ahorsesoul replied to cruelshoes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Bread That Bites Back
Ahorsesoul replied to RiceGuy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We ate at Victoria's in Rochester, MN this week. They have been making their own homemade gluten free rolls for while. They now serve an excellent gluten free crusty roll. If you e-mail them they might share how this is done. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Fixed: Additional Sensitivities Or Hidden Gluten
Ahorsesoul replied to krystal's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What brand of butter are you using (and are you using butter that may have gluten crumbs on it)? Is your toaster clean (as in not used for bread with gluten)? Try keeping a list of what you ate in the 24 hour period before your symptoms. It won't take long to figure out what is causing the problem. It may not be what you think, be sure to include toothpaste... -

ARCHIVED Go Gluten Free Without Formal Testing?
Ahorsesoul replied to Feyliza's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Did they treat/test you for "rocks in your ears". Yes, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo is very common and easy to treat. My dd suffered for years until a great physical therapist treated her. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Getting Diagnosed
Ahorsesoul replied to mikehall117's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Why do you need the test to "prove" it? You already know the answer. -
ARCHIVED Cooked (baked) Ham
Ahorsesoul replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I always take a few gluten free items for the table when I go to someones house to eat. I'd rather be safe than sorry. it was nice of her to ask you. I've been gluten free (with cheating) for years. Then the last two years I've gone totally gluten free. Made a vast difference. -
ARCHIVED Substituting Cornstarch For Flour
Ahorsesoul replied to samcarter's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Most corn starch will say right on the label: 1 tablespoon corn starch equals 2 tablespoons flour I use Argo brand because it says on the label it is gluten free. Enjoy I also use corn starch for a coating for fish/meat when I want something fried. I've used it for onion rings too. -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Store Bought Items
Ahorsesoul replied to Wenmin's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Oh yea, gluten-free items mold fast. I freeze all my bread items when I buy them. I package them into small serving sizes and then freeze. A sliced loaf of bread I lay out on a pan, place in the freezer for a few hours and then package back into a freezer ziploc bag. That way I can take out just one slice at a time. When I make corn bread I let it cool... -
ARCHIVED Fixed: Additional Sensitivities Or Hidden Gluten
Ahorsesoul replied to krystal's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Since you are new to the gluten-free diet you may not be eating totally gluten free. Even after several years on this diet I am still learning. The last two things I learned about was orange soda and root beer. Not all are gluten free. So double check what you are eating, where it's prepared (could be cross contamination), what you are drinking, all your... -
