  1. Pamela's has a gluten free wedding guide Open Original Shared Link
  2. Before going gluten free I drank several POTS of coffee and at least 3 liters of coca cola daily. The caffeine didn't seem to bother me. Now that I'm gluten free if I drink 1 cup of regular coffee after 12 noon I'm awake all night.
  3. I'd tell ds when he grows up and has his own kitchen he can cook his own pasta. I'm all for making it easier for me because of the work involved with keeping my kitchen gluten free. My dh likes the Schar's spaghetti better than the poison brand. I think he could test it for you. He seems old enough. I started teaching my kids to cook when they turned ...
  4. The anwser is NO. Just because you (or your friend) do not see or feel the damage being done does not mean it's ok.
  5. Red beans and rice always seems to bother me when I eat it from a food court. I think the seasoning mix may have gluten in it.
  6. I noticed some problems with some of their drinks so now I stick to plain 100% OJ.
  7. I love "eating autopsy". That is exactly what we do! Since I read that paper plates could be dusted with flour to keep them from sticking I figured everything could have been touched with gluten. One day we'll be dusted with flour when we walk into a store so we don't stick. Yep, gotta read those labels.
  8. Just found this yesterday: Open Original Shared Link or Open Original Shared Link
  9. This isn't like a regular cake but is excellent, Ancho Chile Flourless Chocolate Cake. I've made this several times. I suggest you make it to see if you'd like it for the wedding. It could be decorated very nicely. Open Original Shared Link
  10. At our local Chinese restaurant, the waitress knew about a gluten free diet. She said to order anything with a white sauce that didn't have breaded meat. Anything with the brown sauce would not be gluten free. She said all the fried rice had soy sauce so we shouldn't order it. She even checked to see which soy sauce they used and it contained wheat. She wasn...
  11. Digestion enzymes cause me the same symptoms as gluten. I won't take them anymore.
  12. I doubt anything you say or give your ex will help. You can not control what she thinks. Make an appointment with your children's doctors and talk directly to the doctors (without your ex along, children optional). Also when you see your kids talk to them about you going gluten free and how much better you feel. I suggest you back away from attempting to...
  13. About a year ago I was scheduled to have my gall bladder removed. Before doing the surgery I asked for a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic. I saw a specialist in gall bladder surgery for less than 15 minutes. He kept looking at me and said you sure don't look sick. lol He looked at my x-rays which showed two stones. Both of which were small enough to pass...
  14. I've tried a lot of products and I'm fussy about the taste. I love Shar anything. I picked up three more packasges of their crackers this morning. I fully agree with minniejacks post. The only bread I like is Glutino Flax Seed. But only if it's toasted for a few minutes. For sandwiches, dinner rolls or hamburger buns I use EngerG Tapioca Dinner Rolls...
  15. The Gluten Glutton--great name for a gluten-free resturant or gluten-free store.
  16. I thought I read somewhere that they are doing studies about Prostisitis improving on a gluten free diet. Certainly could explain his improvement.
  17. In a nut shell, I say everything can have gluten in it. You will have to read the labels on everything. I've decided it's actually fun to read labels. I'm amazed at the things that have gluten in them--orange soda, root beer, soy sauce.... This site and the internet will give you plenty of suggestion of what to eat. Focus on them and not the "can't have...
  18. I always thought I was dairy intolerant. Once I went gluten-free it did go away. I didn't know it would when I first went gluten-free so I didn't take note of how long as I was gluten-free before I started back on dairy. I know for years I would still take Lactaid when I'd eat dairy. Now I do not have any problems with dairy. The only cheese I haven't...
  19. I have an dh who is not supportive also. I decided my health was important. I now have an almost gluten-free kitchen. The only wheat items are dh bread for his lunches and his Little Debbie cakes. I do NOT buy his bread or his "poisoned" treats. I do not make his lunches. Told him I would be glad to if he wants it gluten-free. I cleaned out a cabinet for...
  20. I found a coupon for Bob Evans sausage in a Sunday paper so I thought I'd email them. I still sometimes have problems with pork products (I think it's because pigs are fed a lot of wheat). I'm going to try some sausage this weekend. Garrett_Hajes@bobevans.com <Garrett_Hajes@bobevans.com> Tue, Apr 21, 2009 at 7:36 AM I certainly appreciate you...
  21. Generic, There is treatment for fibromyalgia, no one should suffer with it. Over five years ago I finally found a doctor who treated it with Dr Teitelbaum's method. I feel better now than I did when I was younger. So there is treatment if you are willing to follow his treatment methods. I drive 3 hours to the doctor who teats me so it not convenient but...
  22. To cut the sweetness of the Honey Nut I mix in a box of Rice Chex. Perfect.
  23. I am rotfip (rolling on the floor in pain) just thinking about how you are going to feel. I use to cheat but have now been a non-cheater (as gluten free as humanly possible in this gluten contaminated world, lol) for two years. I feel way to good to even want to cheat. Not even one little bite. Be sure to post how you feel after you do this. Hope you...
