ARCHIVED Making New Members Feel Welcome
Canadian Karen replied to Nantzie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I agree, Rusla. The "Gab Room" is sometimes the only way I can deal with this disease. Also, nothing brings me more joy than someone posting that I made their day, or I made them smile, or I made them think of Kentucky Fried Chicken, or.......... All you have to do is read my signature to know how much humour means to me..... Hugs.... -
Hugs to ya (and stick around, eh? ) Karen

Hey Happy Feet! Wuz up? Glad you poked in here! I second what Rusla said - don't go getting yourself poisoned now! Hugs. karen

ARCHIVED What Is Wrong With Some People.
Canadian Karen replied to Rusla's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Why would you get in trouble for this post? I took it to read that it is a writer's group you are part of, nothing to do with this site.... Ah well, I have come to realize Rusla that it takes all kinds to make the world go round, nothing surprises me anymore (especially after "reliving" celiachap and posting a link to his thread (on the Kimberly Clark thread... -

Hey Susan! No Problem! I just wanted to point out how misunderstanding can so easily occur and we sometimes have absolutely no clue what's going on "behind the scenes"...... The above noted thread was the straw that broke the camel's back though, and that's exactly the time you happened to PM me. But the real kicker (and the one that shows Celiachap... -

Actually, it was someone called CeliacMe and here is what was going on: Open Original Shared Link I think around Post #74 onward is when I just lose it....... all the while, this is exactly the same time you were PM'ing me, just as I was doing an "IM OUTTA HERE!". That's why you only got one from me, but I passed the word on to make sure you were welcomed... -

This is a prime example of how misunderstandings happen. The "prominent and popular" member DingoGirl is talking about is me. And yes, she did get a polite response back. But then Susan you seem to feel you were ignored after that. Let me tell you what was really happening. I can remember the DAY you PM'ed me, as it just happened to be one of... -

If I were one to believe in re-incarnation, I would swear that Nancy Grace is the re-incarnation of this journalist! -

Canadian Karen replied to srokie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sure, no problem.... There are some celiacs (Thank God I am not one of them, I've got my own demons to deal with!) who react to gluten even touching their skin. There are those who even if they touch bread to make a sandwich for their children, their hands break out. There are many with DH who react to gluten even touching their skin.... This is why there... -

and therein lies the problem: Where some people saw "attitude", I saw "over-exhuberence"..... I guess because my niece happens to be a 20 yr old student and I can see Joanna embracing her new knowledge with the same passion that got her into Cornell....... and going a bit overboard in the process. I just don't want it to be known around the celiac... -
ARCHIVED Organic Tamari (wheat Free Soy Sauce) By San-j
Canadian Karen replied to nocheerios's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have my Tamari Soy Sauce made by "LifeSource" right here. It is the oriental ginger flavour and says "Gluten Free - Wheat Free - Fat Free - No Preservatives Added" right on the front..... The ingredients read: "Filtered water, soy protein extract, sea salt, apple cider vinegar, ginger, fructose, blackstap molasses"...... -

I can understand your point, Richard, but we have to remember who we are dealing with here. She's a "new kid". Does she know the rules? Of course not. Should we give her the benefit of the doubt and post in a kindly manner what our beliefs are, and how things are usually done around here? Of course we should have. Did we? I don't think so...... ARCHIVED Kimberly-clark
Canadian Karen replied to srokie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was under the impression that people are here on this board to learn. How can they learn if they are swarmed in such a manner when they post something that we know most likely to be wrong? I mean, c'mon, are we really trying to create an atmosphere where everyone is going to be second-guessing a post before hitting the "submit" button, for fear of being... -

Canadian Karen replied to srokie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, I know one thing for sure, if I was a newbie lurking around in the last few days, I certainly would be hightailing it out of town pretty quick! I prefer to always give people the benefit of the doubt. By doing so, I have gotten burned many, many times, but on the other side of the coin, my instincts are usually pretty good and I still believe that... -
ARCHIVED Okay, It's Confirmed, I Have A Sick Sense Of Humour!
Canadian Karen replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
If she needs the link where I found it, I still have it. It was hilarious actually, it had daily accounts of how many people were arrested by the constable and put on the "blacklist" for consuming alcohol!!! I guess they had some morals (or fear of litigation) as at least they didn't name names!!!! LMAO! Karen -

I am researching my family history and was going through some newspapers on-line and found this. I know now that I have a sick sense of humour because I couldn't help but laugh at how they wrote back then! Can you imagine this article appearing in a newspaper today? LMAO! check out this article in a Newfoundland newspaper in 1907: -

ARCHIVED 20 Weeks Pregant And Blood Test Showed Positive For Celiacs But No Symptoms
Canadian Karen replied to Greg G's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Congratulations are in order for a number of reasons, first being the pregnancy! Secondly, you have no idea how lucky your wife is to have found out now and not have to have gone through decades of hell until some celiac savvy doctor finally connected the dots. There are many, many celiacs who are totally asymptomatic, and that is exactly what they are... -
