  1. Disclaimer: This is in no way intended to offend those who actually have lupus, but I thought this video was cute. Open Original Shared Link Hugs. Karen
  2. I belong to another website for the parent magazine "Today's Parent". The journalists often post on the forum when they are researching for articles that they are writing, asking parents on the forum for their stories, input etc. to go into the article. I myself was quoted in an article back in August 2006 for a story about how to keep kids learning through...
  3. OMG Angie! I am so glad there was no permanent damage! As a mother of four, I know exactly just how easily things like this can happen! I remember watching the news one day and a child who was on an escalator had their foot too close to the edge of the step, up against the wall part, and their shoe jammed in-between the step and the wall and almost...
  4. I also had a reaction to Cheetos a few weeks ago.... At the time, I couldn't figure out what it was, as I knew that Cheetos were listed as gluten-free, but now I know they must have CC issues.....
  5. Yep, and to boot it was on Christmas Eve!!!! I guess he didn't want me getting all glutened up through Christmas! LOL! Karen
  6. I hadn't even heard of it until I came home one day and there was a message on my answering machine with my GI giving me my results and saying I was positive for celiac disease. I had to replay the message a few times to figure out what the heck was he saying and how do you spell it????
  7. First off, I would like to commend you and your daughter for having such devotion. Sometimes, we put so much faith in our priest that we forget that they too are human. Priests may very well know every inch of the bible and the history of religion, but when it comes to celiac, it's hard for them to understand the seriousness of the situation. After all...
  8. Joni, that's hilarious! I can tell already you are going to fit right in here! LOL! Karen
  9. I hate when things like that happen. It seems that it never rains, but it pours...... Take a deep breath, and remember that it will pass!!!! Hugs. Karen
  10. I have to admit that when I first tuned in and they said they would have a whole hour on autism, my first thought was "What a golden opportunity to mention gluten again!" as there is a strong connection between gluten and autism. Unfortunately, they missed that opportunity, but hey, it may come up still...... We have to look on the positive side: Autism...
  11. Very good points. This is exactly why I think she should be applauded for her bravery, not critisized......
  12. If I was directing it at you, I would have quoted you. My post referred to a collective "you", as in all the people who are sounding like the nagging, hard to please housewives who no matter what a person does, it is never good enough..... I gotta tell you all, I put myself in her shoes for a minute. Perhaps she is a member on this forum (or another...
  13. LOL! I describe myself more like "The Incredible Hulk" I can feel the rage building up in me and then exploding. I have thrown bikes across the garage, books flying across rooms, you name it, gluten has done it to me....... Karen
  14. No problem, larry mac, I wasn't thinking it was at me....
  15. I really think you need to cut her some slack. It seems we beg and beg for exposure, but every single time something brings celiac into mainstream media, there are a flood of complaints that it wasn't good enough. I for one think that considering she had to deal with time constraints by a producer that said "Okay, you can have X number of minutes...
  16. She did an awesome job!!!! YAY!
  17. Oops! Sorry, I didn't know it played down in the U.S....... Karen
  18. As soon as I saw your user name, I knew you were Cdn!!! LOL! I love it! I use Unico..... you can find it everywhere...... Welcome! Karen
  19. Your doctor's blase attitude doesn't surprise me in the least. Unfortunately, he is in the rather large "uneducated" group of doctors. It is wonderful that you finally have an answer and can start your diet right away and get your health back! From my experience, all the nutritionist did for me was take out her binder off a shelf, take out the page that...
  20. I give kudos to Heidi Collins for getting the ball rolling...... By her coming out and announcing it and highlighting it, perhaps that's what made Elizabeth Hasselbeck realize there's nothing wrong with admitting it..... Maybe more will come out now and announce they also have it..... Karen
  21. The timing is awesome also! With all this Rosie/The Donald stuff going on, more people have been tuning in to the View lately..... even me, and I usually don't watch it..... but will now! Karen
  22. I have witnessed more random acts of kindness from people on this board than anywhere else. Case in point: A few weeks ago, I received a rather large box in the mail. In that box was a light that specializes in helping those with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Those who know me know that from November to February, I am a write-off. I have to...
  23. For what it is worth, I have a great amount of faith in Kraft. They have been from the beginning a front-runner in the practice of detailed labelling, even before any laws told them they had to...... I for one think they are on the ball....... Karen
