  1. A biopsy taken during a endoscopy (down the throat) is how they test the villi to confirm celiac disease..... Karen
  2. Middle name, baby! Middle name........ Karen
  3. Hi! Welcome to the board! Hopefully, you have finally found the answer to your family's prayers. Most of us go years (the average from onset of symptoms to finally getting a diagnosis is 11 years!!!) before finally finding out what what wrong with us all along. First, the information on this site it tops in my books. Also, someone posted this link...
  4. I will be keeping your Mom and family in my prayers.... Hopefully, this is the answer to your prayers... Hugs. Karen
  5. Throw your hubby up there! Nikki, don't you think in any way, shape, or form that you are in any way responsible for that. There just seems to be many differences of opinion here lately...... How is your hubby? Hugs. Karen
  6. I can definitely attest to the fact that he doesn't........ Karen
  7. It's hard to say. McDonald's fries are generally considered to be okay. Unless your McDonald's is not that "careful", kwim? Maybe talk to the manager....... Drink lots of water (and maybe try the pineapple juice everyone is talking about now, apparently, that helps in the "de-glutenizing".....) Hugs. Karen
  8. Yep, that's Mr. Canadian Karen, a.k.a. Terry. Hockey player? I WISH! Nope, he's a teacher (he teaches Grade 3). I was born and raised in a suburb of Toronto called Scarborough (home of Mike Myers), but a year ago moved the family about 45 minutes east of Toronto. Karen
  9. I just noticed that it is the most hilarious thing to have hubby's pic beside a post thanking God for Tampax! Karen
  10. Just let it roll off your back, I already learned that lesson...... {{{{{{{{{ HUGS }}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Karen
  11. I just heard from the specialist's office: He wants me to continue with the oral iron supplements for the time being..... I swear, sometimes you feel like you are just banging your head against a wall.... Karen
  12. Hi Cherryl! Welcome to the board! I am glad that you have taken matters into your own hands and done some researc on your own, since the medical establishment in general is years behind in educating doctors about celiac disease. It certainly does sound like you could have celiac disease. Your question about whether to just try the gluten-free diet...
  13. Thanks for sharing the link! I love it when celiac disease "gets out there"...... There's a thread already about the show - here is the link: Open Original Shared Link Thanks! Karen
  14. Well, considering I have had watery diarrhea for the better part of a decade now, but collagenous colitis was only discovered last year, I am guessing that one of the main reasons my BM's haven't improved on the gluten-free diet is because of the collagenous colitis.... I am guessing I have had it the whole time..... It has only been the last few years...
  15. I have major sleep problems, but I think they are more attributed to the collagenous colitis than the celiac disease. I can fall asleep no problem, but around 2 a.m., my bowels wake me up, and I am going non-stop to the bathroom alternating with rocking back and forth with cramping until around 5 or 6 a.m. then it usually settles down for me to fall asleep...
  16. That happens to me! That's why I can't use pads, thank God for Tampax........ Karen
  17. Cool! We're still waiting for our celiac episode on "House"....... Karen
  18. Open Original Shared Link Hugs. Karen
  19. We have gone through Budesonide and Prednisone with no effect..... I just want to know how he wants to proceed in getting my iron up. If it helps me to stop feeling so absolutely exhausted all the time, then I will be a happy camper! Karen
  20. I always thought it was Burmese, DUH!!!! Karen
  21. Well, waited very patiently for the phone call today from the doctor to tell me what he wants to do about the anemia, but didn't get the call...... I will call in the morning..... Karen
  22. I LOVE you puppy and the caption!!!! Burmese Mountain Dogs are one of my favourites. We have had a Golden Retriever just about our whole lives!!! (not the same one, of course!) LOL! Karen
  23. Armetta, I am glad to see you posting. That made my day! Karen
  24. or me, too! But celiac3270 is much more experienced than I am. I am still wet behind the ears....... Karen
  25. Sure, Rusla, are you trying to confuse me any more than I already am?? Okay, I think I got this straight. My sister saw your pic, Rusla, and said you looked like a girl who was in the hospital with her when she gave birth. But, this woman's name is Ursula...... Got it now! So, just to be clear, Ursula, you no longer have a twin, but Rusla, you do...
