  1. I have come to the conclusion that gluten also causes dyslexia..... Anyway, have a great cruise and be cautious!!! Hugs. Karen
  2. That is very weird, and I have never heard of that happening before. I know for a fact that moderators do not have the option or authority to edit other people's posts. Perhaps other moderators more experienced than me or Scott can chime in on this one..... Karen
  3. LOL! She saw your model pic before you changed it..... I just got around to mentioning it.... Which reminds me, I have a few phone messages to give to my daughter from last week! (Brain fog sucks!) Karen OMG! OMG! OMG!!!!! Talk about a brain fog moment!!!!!! Ursula, Rusla - Rusla, Ursula, no , wait, ummmmmm Rusla! That's weird! ...
  4. Born and raised in Scarborough. We just moved out of the city (to Durham) last January. I swear there must be something in the water or food or air, but we sure are making kids big now-a-days!!! Karen
  5. That is EXACTLY how it feels in the morning when I wake up!!! I will have to google up TMJ dysfunction to see what it is..... Thanks! Karen
  6. Hi Jackie, You sound just like my daughter. Eileen is 12, almost as tall as me, about an inch shorter (I am 5'9") and she is already in a size 10 Ladies shoe. What the heck is in the food nowadays??????? Growth hormone?? Karen
  7. OOOOOHHHH! (as she is wringing her hands in anticipation and with glee!!!) THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! I am printing it off as we speak (um, type).... I will have to let you know how it turns out when I try it (probably the weekend!) Doesn't take much to get me excited, eh? Thanks! Karen
  8. Hi Nikki, Your hubby is blessed to have you and your inner strength. You are an inspiration! It's refreshing to see there are still people out there who take marriage vows and the "for better or for worse" part of them literally. Hugs! Karen
  9. I wouldn't consider that pathetic at all! I would call that part of the natural process of mourning. I can remember balling my eyes out when I realized I couldn't pig out on my Schzewan Chinese Food anymore. I cried even more when I found out clamato juice is not gluten free and I could not longer have my Blood Caesars (it's an alcoholic beverage here...
  10. I am sooooooo envious!!!! You are so lucky! Have a great time, and make sure you print off that gluten free alcohol list so you know what you can have in the bar!! On a side note, my sister lurks here occasionally (because I am still trying to convince her she has a gluten problem even though she had negative bloodwork). Anyway, she said to...
  11. I think the whole nation has already debated this when Tom Cruise let his thoughts on this be known. Any advice given on here should be taken with the understanding that there is a disclaimer that it is only "advice", and ultimately, the two people who should be making decisions as to whether medication is needed or not is you and your doctor. There...
  12. Are you sure I won't get accused of "luring" if I post it? Better be safe, I'll PM it to you...... Karen
  13. There have definitely been some success stories over there once a gluten free diet was initiated. For those who don't respond, they look for other reasons (food dye, etc.) or a combination of more than one. When they get into detailed discussions of the food addititives, dyes, etc., that's usually when I pop back over into the "Sex, Marriage & Relationships...
  14. Very good point, Vincent. They talk alot about food dyes, etc. The parents of those children with ADHD not caused by celiac disease usually pipe in with advice regarding food dyes and stuff....... I usually bow out then since I have no clue about that stuff!! LOL! Karen
  15. Yep. Some see positive reponses right away. Others, who seem to want the same results, get frustrated when they don't but then it's important to remind them that everyone is different and it could take 6 months to a year off of gluten before they will see any change. There are two other fellow celiacs on that site...... Karen
  16. The rules up here suck, Ursula. I am hoping that the legislation the U.S. has recently passed regarding food labelling will eventually be adopted here...... Manufacturers can switch between corn to wheat, back to corn, back to wheat, as often as they wish, depending on which happens to be the cheapest at the time - it is really almost criminal they are...
  17. I think alot of the doctor bashing is just a way to vent frustrations, but I think we should keep in mind that we should be frustrated with the medical establishment in general, not a particular doctor. It is frustrating that the whole medical community seems to have blinders on when it comes to celiac disease. But I look at this as a challenge. We need...
  18. Hi Judy, Don't worry about conjuring up old posts and posting new replies. Happens all the time, not to worry. People get used to looking at dates....... I think you should try that new pineapple juice suggestion from another thread. See if it helps to de-glutenize you. You can be our guinea pig!!! Hugs. Karen
  19. Vincent, I would really worry if I were you why your wife thinks he is so "awesome"... Just joking!!! I have yet to find an OBGYN who has the proper bedside manners to make me feel comfortable!!! Karen
  20. Hi! Welcome to the board! I think that sounds definitely like a myth. If pineapple juice fended off the effects of gluten, I would be the first running out tomorrow morning buying up shares in a juice company!!! There was also a myth going around about a year ago about certain crueller at Tim Horton's up here in Canada being gluten free. Total fabrication...
  21. I don't think that it is gluten free. Alcoholic beverages that are gluten free: Alcoholic Beverages NOTE:A lot of products may also be listed by "type" i.e. Wines, Vodkas, etc. Almaden Wines (000.000.0000) (vw=05/30/02) (www.almaden.com/faqs/FAQ.htm) Alpine Spiced Cider (Continental Mills) (800.457.7744) (vp=09/05/02) Drink Mixes Arbor...
