  1. If anyone wishes to brainstorm to find ways to stop these nightmare stories from happening, stop people from having to go through the same hell, to turn this energy into positive action, please see thread in "Publications and Publicity" called "How can we get the message out to doctors". Our little voices scattered throughout North America trying to get...
  2. Below is quote from Timber4est: Seems to me there's your answer right there. Who has more power, money and resources to get the message out to the doctors than the insurance companies? If we could open up their eyes (insurance companies) to the vast amount of money wasted due to years of misdiagnosis, and that it all could have been avoided by...
  3. It seems to me, and I went back and counted, that there were THREE other posters BEFORE ME who "went against the grain" of the post by not bashing doctors. Yet I once again was singled out. You obviously have some assumption that up here in Canada, we are in Doctor Heaven or something. I have had my own personal hells, trust me. I find the fact that...
  4. CeliacMe, I really have no idea what I had said to have you unleash your fury upon me, perhaps you have me mixed up with someone else. Your post starting with "You obviously are biased", quotes things that I have not even said. Maybe you feel resentment towards me because I am Canadian and our medical system differs vastly from yours? Well, I am not...
  5. Hi! Just noticing your location and you summer at Round Lake, Ontario. Wow! You really like to up far up north!! Beautiful, isn't it? Karen
  6. Hi Emily! Our lives so seem to be parallel, eh? I went into Clan Thompson, but couldn't find that particular article..... Do you know what section it is in? Thanks! Karen
  7. It would be VERY interesting to see any studies done on this connection. As I discussed on another thread regarding depression, I have been on Prozac for almost a decade now, which has literally given me my life back. One of the deciding factors in me taking that step was the fact that in my family history, there seems to be an indication of a lack of seratonin...
  8. Now I am really confused...... Was this directed at me? Karen
  9. I wasn't aware that a post trying to bring another point of view posted in good faith could be so misconstrued. I also don't understand how every time I seem to open my mouth lately, I am getting lamb-basted, and frankly, it is getting tired. I will not be baited, all I can say is that human beings who go through life holding on to such venom end up poisoning...
  10. Wow! I can't believe I haven't gotten any "it's a lost cause" posts!! Karen
  11. Thanks Jen! I was really starting to get worried for a minute thinking of people sitting back saying "This chick just gets wackier by the minute! First, she advocates the use of Preparation "H" underneath the eyes, then she starts a civil war over a breath minth, now she's hanging out in cementeries!!!! " Hugs, Karen
  12. It's amazing how that little habit becomes such second nature in our lives that we do it without even thinking....... I almost made the mistake when I was cutting and serving birthday cake (gluten cake), and when finished, had my fingers about an inch away from my mouth before I caught myself...... Hugs, and hope it passes quickly....... Karen
  13. It goes that way when you hit reply. If you hit reply, then scroll down, you will see the little snippets of all the previous posts, but it shouldn't be that way if you are just viewing them...... Karen
  14. Nope, I am trying to become a woman of virtue again, after being a fallen woman..... Sounds boring, eh? Karen
  15. WOOHOO!!!! YEAH!! We're becoming "common". We've come a long way, baby! Karen
  16. Mysti, I just wanted to send you a hug......... {{HUG}} I have days like that. Isn't there a song that goes like this?: "Mama said there'd be days like this, There'd be days like this, my Mama said......." Karen
  17. I am looking in my thryoid book now and here are a few websites that might be of some use to you: American Thyroid Association Inc. www.thyroid.org The Endocrine Society www.endo-society.org Endocrinologist-operated website (Dr. Daniel Drucker, thyroid specialist at the Toronto Hospital (University of Toronto) www.mythyroid.com Karen
  18. **Sigh****, oh well, it was good while it lasted.......... Karen
  19. Actually, I should mention that you still need to check the ingredients when buying an Altoids product. I remember someone posting that there is one of their products (maybe their gum?) that contains gluten, but it states wheat in the ingredients. I wouldn't know if it's the gum or not, I have no need for their gum....... Karen
  20. Sending you some cyber hugs too......{{{{{{{{{{ hugs }}}}}}}}}} The expense can be overwhelming. I know in Canada, celiacs can claim the difference between a regular item and gluten-free one (you have to keep receipts, keep a log, etc) on their income tax. I don't know if you have the same option in the States. I take comfort in the hope that as this...
  21. Rhiannon is 7, and I have twin boys who are 4. Don't even get me started on the bathroom breaks. Having chronic diarrhea and small children do not mix. Having to be in the bathroom 20 times a day, they are constantly knocking on the door, absolutely no comfort there (not that there's any comfort in having diarrhea, but still.......... ) Either that,...
  22. I myself wouldn't know since I am lucky to grab a 5 minute shower before the kids are pounding at the door for something or other (any form of pampering in this household is strictly prohibited..... ) but I did find this at delphi: Bath and Body Works (800.395.1001) (00/00/00) Many are gluten-free (but double check....some contain oats and someone...
  23. Altoids are indeed gluten free. Karen
  24. Monica, My take on it is that if ANYONE had the right to vilify doctors, you do, as it very well may be that due to the undiagnosed celiac disease, you and your children now have to live the consequences with the rest of your lives. In your shoes, if I played the "what if" game, imagining a life far easier than what you have had it with your children...
