  1. Actually Vincent, that's not quite true. They didn't announce anything! They just quietly changed the ingredients on their website and didn't tell anyone...... Karen
  2. If McDonald's knew (which they probably didn't, but that doesn't exonerate them because they they should have done the testing themselves before declaring their fries gluten free), they at best, would only be able to claim "low gluten" fries, just like the communion wafers. Then that would leave it up to the people to decide if they wanted to take the risk...
  3. You're right, of course...... But I can't complain, after all, it turned me onto a really, really great show that I hadn't previously heard of. I LOVE HUGH LAURIE!!!!! Karen
  4. I still don't think that releases them from their obligation to back up their claim that their fries were gluten free. I honestly don't think they should be able to take the "Oh well, we didn't know it was in the cooking oil" stance. They have more than enough money to do their own investigating and they needed to make sure those fries were gluten free...
  5. You better watch it! They might start lovingly calling you "Pebbles"...... Hugs! Karen
  6. Uh, yeah, sure, whatever you say guys..... Karen
  7. You can count me in! Does it matter that it's coming from Canada? Karen
  8. LOL Lisa! Alas, tonight's episode was not the celiac one. Just a stupid woman who was taking fertility drugs to make hubby happy by trying to have another child, yet all along packing herself up with Ritalin and birth control pills to MAKE SURE she DIDN'T get pregnant!! Darn! I have to admit though, I am now officially hooked on this show. I absolutely...
  9. It's hard to say. I can't see the show using the "typical" celiac disease case. Maybe seizures due to celiac, or neurological disorders caused by celiac, something along those lines...... I just wish they would tell us which one it was!!!!! Karen
  10. It's on tonight at 9:00 p.m. I am eagerly awaiting it as it is the start of the new season. Will let you know.... Karen
  11. This makes me wonder have they properly investigated the "caramel colouring" in their vanilla milkshakes? Karen
  12. A vanilla milkshake is one of my "pampering luxuries" that I allow myself. Now I'm not sure I can trust those "suits" in Corporate to tell us the truth ...... Karen
  13. It doesn't negate the fact though that if McDonald's was going to guarantee their french fries to be safe, the onus was on them to investigate every single step from farm to cashier to make sure their claim was accurate. They failed to do that. A corporation as large as McDonalds should have enough money to do their own testing of the oil, irregardless...
  14. I don't think I have ever seen a thread reach 200 posts in less then 24 hours!! I think we have broken a record!! Karen
  15. I came across this website but can pinpoint where is originates from. I wanted to make sure whoever lives there knew about this gluten subsidy...... Open Original Shared Link Karen
  16. What an insult! They are insinuating that we don't know enough about gluten to be able to "properly ask" the right questions!!! Yeah, like doctors have the time to actually do that! Karen
  17. Below is an excerpt of a post on another forum. This is what they were told: I wonder if the cover-up has begun....... Karen
  18. It sounds to me like McDonald's thinks that just because the french fries are "par-fried" , that the gluten is magically eliminated somehow..... However, reading the patent on this "par-fried" way of cooking, I for one am not convinced!! Karen
  19. I didn't let one go, honest! Karen
  20. Wow, reading that website and it keeps on mentioning acrylamides. Wondering, okay, what is this stuff? This is what I have found: Open Original Shared Link Yikes! Karen
  21. Found this about "par-frying": Open Original Shared Link Karen
  22. Has there been any official word from any American Celiac Associations? Do they even know about this? Karen
  23. I hope a lot of people have that "glutenfree list" of McDonalds that shows the fries on it printed out. I wouldn't put it past them to change the website and then claim it was never on there...... Karen
  24. That's because they are all in that emergency meeting that was called to cover up their butts....... Karen
  25. I can just picture the atmosphere right now at McDonald's Corporate Head Office. Everyone running around, scurrying like cockroaches, trying to do a major cover up. Emergency Meeting: "DON'T SAY ANYTHING, DON'T ADMIT ANYTHING!!" "CALL THE LAWYERS!!!!" Karen
