  4. Hi Jill! Welcome to the forum, I am glad you found us! First off, you are lucky to have had a doctor who actually clued into what was wrong with you and gave you the proper diagnosis. There are many on this forum who still have not gotten "officially" diagnosed, but unofficially have had such positive responses to the gluten free diet that they know...
  5. BB22, It sounds like you are on the right track and that's very good news. There is no feeling quite like it in the world when you finally see that light at the end of the tunnel. I have been on Prozac for almost a decade now. The last few years, a small dose of Wellbutrin has been added to restore a sexual desire that took a nosedive. It works...
  6. I can remember having correspondence a long time ago with Tim Hortons (this was back at a time when some weird rumour was going around about their cruellers being gluten free!!). Anyway, back then, they gave me a list of all their beverages that were gluten-free, but only one soup was gluten free in the food department. (I forget which one it is....) Anyway...
  7. I found this extremely interesting, and true. I am quite reluctant to mention this, as I am sure some of you are going to think that I am even crazier than you thought before, but one of my favourite pastimes and a hobby I enjoy immensely is to walk through a cemetary, the older small town ones in particular, and reading the headstones. One fact that...
  8. I miss my chinese food the most. Broncobux gave me a good recipe for Schezwan that I am going to try this weekend though. (I am sooo excited!!) I was never really a pasta freak before having to go gluten-free, so that wasn't so hard to pass up. Fish, never liked any seafood. Being from a Newfie family, I am the black sheep. If my family lived in Newfoundland...
  9. You are so right about the nurses.... When my boys were born, they were born at 31 weeks gestation (9 weeks early) and both of them weighed 3 lbs. 12 oz. at birth. Thankfully, their lungs were strong and only Connor needed CPAP for a day. They still had to stay in the special care nursery until they gained weight. Without those nurses nudging me along...
  10. Thanks Judy! I was feeling kind of disappointed that I had missed it (don't really watch GMA up here though.....) That gave me a chance to see it! Karen
  11. That reminds me of someone who posted here a long time ago (I can't remember who) who said that every time their kids walked down the bread aisle, they chanted "Aisle of Death! Aisle of Death!".... Karen
  12. From delphi: Farley (Farley & Sather’s Candy Co.) Other candies are manufactured which they state are gluten free, but are not made on dedicated lines. The lines are taken apa...
  13. This thread kind of reminds of a few years ago when the Provincial Government here in Ontario made it "acceptable" to bash teachers and the government was in a dispute with them. It got to be such a daily occurence to bash the teachers that even the parents and, believe it or not, the CHILDREN, thought it perfectly okay to teacher bash. Poor hubby went...
  14. I am guessing here, but perhaps the reason it affected you that way would be the aspartame. I have heard that stuff is evil! Karen
  15. That is a good one, especially for the newbies....... Thanks (in fact, I could use that once in awhile!) Karen
  16. I agree wholeheartedly. Karen
  17. I switched it back. He only made a brief appearance..... just to make sure the coast was clear! Karen

  19. I shouldn't have much of a problem getting a referral to a hematologist since I was supposed to go to one anyway for another test, and I have been procrastinating on that one. Both my brother and my father have something called "lacking Factor 5", whatever that is, and all members of the family are supposed to get tested for it. Dad's condition is actually...
