  1. What a beautiful little boy. I am an adult, but I wanted to tell you that I lost about 5 lbs in the first month of gluten-free. Weight I did NOT need to lose!! And I was STARVING all of the time....eating everything I could. Im still too thin. But I have gained that 5 back in the last 6 weeks. I am on month 4. I hope this helps.
  2. Thanks Jenny. I figured I could up them. I used to take the Renew Life probiotics, but nixed them when I cut out rice (and all grains cuz they have rice flour in them).
  3. I dont recommend either of these. Your already have your Dx and even the "smallest amount" can damage you. Gluten-ease and Gluten Defense are not for Celiacs and there is no evidence/studies or proof that they will protect your body from damage. Bad idea!!
  4. Just curious what you guys consider "HEAVY" probiotics? I think this is a relevant question for this thread. I tried a probiotic a few weeks ago that had 250 BILLION colony forming units. And after a few days, I was miserable. I was bloated like a 6 month pregnant woman. I had shortness of breath I was so bloated. Gas ex didnt touch it. I quit taking...
  5. Someday I hope they cure "auto-immune" diseases period. I believe Genetic therapy will be the key. I support stem cell research. I may get bashed for saying it. But I do.
  6. Strawberries can be grown in wheat "hay". There is a slight chance of cc, but not everyone reacts. I think if you wash them very good it is no worry. Or look for FL strawberries...it doesnt get cold enough here for them to use that wheat as insulation.
  7. It is tuff for sure!! You do need some FAT though and it will help with cravings and temptation. A growing man needs some FAT. Eggs are good and so are nuts. I made the Pamela's brownies this weekend and everyone loved them. Some of the mixes are quite good and anyone could bake them. Just tell us what you like and we can tell you what is tasty...
  8. I am the best doctor I have. I have no problem discussing my issue with others. I know it affects me. The diet is proof enough for me. If you have a cold, do you feel weird telling others you are sick? Do you need a doctor to dx the cold? No? You know your body better than anyone else.

  11. On the Alfalfa...I would do 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off so you dont develop an intolerance to it.
  12. Your body produces enzymes from the time you are born until you die. So you can take them as long as you want. Sorry you arent feeling well. Hope you get better soon.
  13. I just dont eat at those places...havent in over 12 years.....when I became a "health nut"....LOL Yeah...there is a lot of nasty food out there folks!
  14. Kids do need to learn on their own. Here is a good example. For years I have drilled healthy eating into my daughter's head. And we dont eat junk around our house. Her school has an annual dance every year. Well the one before last, Althea was sick when I picked her up. She said she had eaten cake and a bunch of soda. She wanted to puke. Well...

  16. I roughly do it about 2:1. Twice as much "ground" seeds. You can buy them already ground. And they just came out with a combo of chia and rice flour for baking. Have not tried it though. This site has a lot of info about chia sees: Open Original Shared Link I use them in all sorts of things....dressings....smoothies. This recipe looks...
  17. I dont really consider them expensive. I can get a whole pound in bulk for 7 bucks! And I only use a few tsps per baking. A pound will last me a year!!! To me 7 bucks a year is dirt cheap. I think someone on here found them for 5 bucks a pound.......But I already have a bag and wont need any for a VERY LONG time..... Open Original Shared Link
  18. Do Vitamin D Deficiency, Gut Bacteria, and Gluten Combine in Infancy to Cause Celiac Do Vitamin D Deficiency, Gut Bacteria, and Gluten Combine in Infancy to Cause Celiac Disease? Celiac.com 06/16/2008 - Do vitamin D deficiency, gut bacteria, and timing of gluten introduction during infancy all combine to initiate the onset of celiac disease? Two recent...
  19. I've been touting Chia seeds in here in place of xanthum gum for months. I baked my first gluten-free food and used them. I have never bought xanthum...Heck...I cannot even spell it.......
  20. Wow Paul....I had to get a magnifying glass out to read your "tiny" font. With the case you have presented here, if it were me, I would go gluten-free. It is just one food item and not worth all of the possible problems it could cause you.
  21. I agree. I wouldnt mention it to the friend. It might make the friend disappear. Better for your daughter to learn to resist. Because throughout life there will be A LOT of temptation.
  22. That is frustrating. Sorry to hear this and hope the extra therapy does the trick!
  23. I think either one would be fine Beth. I always just buy the original. If you want it vanilla. Add a tsp of vanilla extract to it.
  24. Is she new to the gluten-free diet? If so, it is best to WAIT a good 3 months for her villi to heal before eating processed gluten-free foods. Glutino's are made in a dedicated facility. They are serious about their gluten-free status. Or it is possible that she is sensitive to something else in them.
