ARCHIVED My Closed Minded, know It All Aunt
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes, I have the same problem with a good friend of mine and her daughter. When that little girl was younger doctors told this woman her daughter can't have wheat. And she has this "oh, a little bit can't hurt attitude" and smiles in your face. When I refused to eat a strawberry with a little bit of that dip at one side once, she made fun out of me and said... -

ARCHIVED Sunbeam Breadmaker
stef-the-kicking-cuty posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi there, as I figured, my mother-in-law gave me a breadmachine christmas. I already read the manual and I also read the advices about breadmachines in the glouten gourmet book I got. And I have the strange feeling, I can't make good gluten-free breads with this machine. This sunbeam breadmachine kneads the dough two times and I heard this isn't that good... -
ARCHIVED Glutenfree Menus With Us Airways?
stef-the-kicking-cuty posted a topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Hi to all, I finally got my working permit and travel papers. So my mother-in-law gave me a journey to germany (my home country) as a christmas gift. We are flying with US Airways. This will be my first flight since going glutenfree. So I was wondering, if anybody knows, if they serve gluten-free meals? Does anybody have experience with US Airways already... -

Hi Mel, yes, I have also days, where everything seems to bother me. With me I found out, if I just drink one or two more glasses of water, it really helps. But everybody has to find that out for himself. Stef -
Hi all, my doc also accepts EnteroLab. He even asked me, if I need something written from him to do the tests there. Stef

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to McDougall's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oh, these flecks are related to celiac disease??? I always thought they are normal, too. Wow, awesome, no that you mention it i didn't have them for a while, but actually didn't realize it. Cool! What does that mean, when you have them actually? Stef -
ARCHIVED Help! Am Gaining Weight:
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Born2run2's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hey, what I forgot to say. I think there actually IS a sport for EVERYBODY. If it's a mental struggle for you, then you just didn't find that sport yet . And believe me, there are a lot of excuses (even for me I must admit) to do no sports . Been there, done that . I'm unfortunately also not blessed with a lot of discipline in that. And it really is easier... -

Hello Frey, thanks, that encourages me in two things . First: I thought i'm going on peoples nerves with that (well, maybe I do, but at least I try to be kind of sarcastic sometimes ) and second: Now I have proof that my english language is getting better . You can understand me...lol. Houston. No problem. Over... Stef -

ARCHIVED Ice Cream Question?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to mela14's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Mel, well, if there is a wafer it probably had gluten. If it didn't have the lactase enzyme and you still had problems, then i'd think it was the wafer. I just think so, because you wrote you also can have little amounts of milk in your coffee? Well, i eat Breyers ice cream (only the ones with no obvious gluten ingridients such a biscuits) and sometimes... -
ARCHIVED Leaky Gut Question
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to mela14's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think that gluten and gyn problems are related, too. Because before I went gluten-free I had so much pain with my monthly problem that I couldn't even get out of bed sometimes. Now it's completely gone, not the slightest pain anymore. I think it's awesome and I never would have drawn any connection between that and eating gluten before. Stef -
ARCHIVED Help Please
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Ron's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Maggie, i'd say that depends on how much of the boiled white and brown rice you can't have. If you can't have any at all, then I wouldn't eat the rice bread either. If you can eat a little, you can always mix the rice flour with other flours and just take a little bit of rice flour. Greetings, Stef -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Born2run2's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I agree with Richard and Frey, as I already said, not only control the stuff your eating (weight watchers or not weight watchers), but also do some workout for your body. What i actually meant, was that there are a lot of people who think: Oh, weight watchers. Great thing, so I don't have to do anything anymore. I didn't say, that you're one of them. I just... -

Hi Judy, i had to hold my 50 kg (not sure, think it's 110 pounds) weight for years, due to the fact, that i'm (still) fighting in weight classes at tournaments. To hold my weight i ate one big cucumber salad every day with different fat free dressings together with normal food (but before every big meal first the entire bowl of salad, so you eat less of... -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Born2run2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, i've had problems and pain for about 6 years. It finally was so bad that I thought I should hit a tree with my car. No doc ever figured out what it was and finally even my husband thought, it's all in my head. Then, out of a stupid coincidence i found the solution on my own and then i figured out, it must be celiac (my doc finally confirmed it). Well... -
ARCHIVED Leaky Gut Question
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to mela14's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Mel, i went gluten-free in July 2004 and I had the first day (in between) without pain in my intestines in October and the first week (almost) in November. Since that it's getting better slowly. The pain free periods get bigger. But when i started it was so bad, that the pain in my intestines was so big, that it felt like the skin was scratched of from... -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to campcour's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, i think it matters, too. I'm one of the persons who gets water in the mouth in the shower... And I already had it happen, when i put cream on my face for skin care and then i drink a glass water afterwards that it tastes like that cream, because when you put your mouth to the glass, the water reaches over your lip, and there's cream also... ARCHIVED Buckwheat Question
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to mela14's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi mel, even it was listed on their website to avoid. Maybe you can have it from another manufacturer. And even if this gluten-free hot cereal bothered you, there's also a flour made of buckwheat from Arrowhead Mills. It actually states "wheat free made with non gluten ingredients" on the package. So, if you're not allergic to buckwheat you should try... -
