ARCHIVED Gluten Related Neurological Conditions
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to FreyaUSA's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have had (and still have) problems like that. My hands and arms are "falling asleep" regularly and it tingles and stuff. I have problems with my muscles as well. They don't really build up. And my right eyelid hangs down, when i get tired. And before i was diagnosed, sometimes, when i was working out i had a pain shooting down my right leg, just as when... -

Hello liz, it's normal to be confused at the beginning. But it's all getting better after a while. On celiac.com are a lot of food lists, you can print out. And also a lot of good recipes, you can make. Don't desparate. When you go out into a restaurant, you can't have beer as a celiac, but you can have a lot of other stuff. As a celiac you can drink most... -
ARCHIVED Family Gatherings At Restaurants
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to SofiEmiMom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That's very sad to hear and this is very difficult to handle. I just think, that if this aunt is that way, she will hardly change. I already made experience like that myself. I always print stuff out from message boards like celiac.com and give them to read and try to get into a talk with them to explain celiac. If they are stubborn i don't go on explaining... -

Hi to all, i just was on the bardsbeer homepage and they have glutenfree beer available now. I couldn't find a price however. They ask you to give a letter of them to your local beershop. If you want you can get more information on Open Original Shared Link. I have to apologize, i'm in a hurry right now. Otherwise i would have figured it out myself and... -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
When my husband and i weren't married yet, he had a girlfriend (he told me about her). And she passed out regularly, too. At the end it came out she had diabetes and passed out because of that. -
ARCHIVED Going Gf Without Official Diagnosis
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to dbuhl79's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Are you having a biopsy at this appointment or will there only be the bloodwork done? Because with me i had one week glutenfree before my bloodwork and it came back negative. The hilarious thing was, that my doctor didn't even know, that glutenfree before the bloodwork can falsify the result. How dumb... -
ARCHIVED Dizziness
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to hapi2bgf's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yeah, i had that too. But it was a lot, before i knew i had celiac and before i went glutenfree. I had it yesterday a little and i thought (like all the times before) this is, because i haven't done much sport lately. But that actually can't be, so maybe the "not doing much sport" wasn't the problem before either. And now i found this subject here on the... -

ARCHIVED Is This A Coincidence, Doctor?!
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Mballerina's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Magdalena, i consider taking the enterolab test as well, because my blood tests were negativ and i haven't had the biopsy. Now i'm glutenfree and for the biopsy i would have to go back on gluten. That's why i chose the enterolab test. If your doctor reacts so stupid, i would go to another doctor. And why does he acuse you of playing doctor? Somebody... -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to pixiegirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello Susan, my tests were negativ, because i did the same thing you did. I made research and found out about celiac disease and started to cut out the gluten in my food. When the doctor wanted to make some blood tests i told him, that i'm worried, that the blood tests wont show anything, because i already started the glutenfree diet. He replied, no, that... -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to snipe12's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello snipe, it's ok, to rant once in a while. I remember when i started with this diet. Gosh, i was so grouchy , i think i was a pain in the but for my husband and everybody else around me. Although i'm feeling much better now, i still make mistakes from time to time as well. Nobody is perfect and if you want to have a perfect glutenfree diet, you... -
ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Question
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to lauriel234's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hello all, i was looking for any turkeys that are not injected with glutenjuices and such stuff. i found 5 turkeys on the celiac.com list: Alberstons, Empire Kosher, Honeysuckle White (was already said before), Safeway and Shadybrook Farms. But i haven't found any of them in WalMart, Giants or Wegmans, where i mostly go shopping. Does anybody know, where... -
ARCHIVED Stress On The Body
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to anglepoise's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, two of the known triggers are: 1. stress 2. a surgery With me it was a surgery. I don't know, where i once read the (german) article about these triggers. But that was the reason, why i suggested that i had celiac disease. Because as soon as the anastetic was gone after a tooth surgery i immediately had very severe symptoms. Then a lot of years... -
Hello to all, before i was diagnosed with celiac disease, i really had a bad condition, although i had to run 2 to 3 times a week in police school and i was in the german kickboxing national team from 1994 until 2003 with regular training almost every day. Sometimes i had problems to run one entire kilometer. And in training i had frequent breakdowns....

ARCHIVED How Do You "break It" To An Older Child?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Sharon C.'s topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I think you're handling it pretty good, too. Well, nothing against Santa. Kids have to be kids at some point. But what concerns your sons health, you did a good job. It's necessary that he knows the truth. And like this he learns that the truth not always is good. But he learns to handle it. Lots of greetings, Stef -
ARCHIVED Getting Others To Understand Celiac
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello Stacy, my husband had the same reaction first. Then i found something to compare it for him, although it's not the same. He has an allergy against different kinds of pollen. Well, i said to him, if i put only one pollen into your nose and expect you not to sneeze. That would be quite silly, wouldn't it? Mostly he says yes. And then i say, see, that... -
Hey Kimberly, but how do they do that with the prize, if you only buy a hamburger patty without bun? It's already pretty expensive, when you buy a complete hamburger. And one single hamburger hardly ever made me full. So if i buy 2 or three i'm not gonna pay the same prize than for 2 or three complete hamburgers. Then i better eat somewhere else or take...

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to wildones's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hey there, this is interesting. Just a few weeks ago my mother sent me a letter from germany with an articel from the newspaper. They were talking about a doctor who finds out allergies and intolerances with "Kinesiologie". I don't know the english word for it. But "Kinesiologie" is very widespread over there. Well, what they do is: They have different... -
