  1. Yeah, Kaiti and Jessica are right. There is no remission. Couple of years ago doctors thought so, because they didn't know much about celiac. But they also thought all celiacs are skinny and must have diarrhea, which also isn't true. Now they know, that there can't be a remission with celiac. The symptoms can just disappear for some years starting with adolescence...
  2. You sound celiac to me also. Definately get tested and as celiac3270 said. Don't let your doctor talk you out of it. Stay stubborn. Some docs tend to try to talk you out of it. We heard that a lot in here. I wish you good luck and welcome on the message board. Hugs, Stef
  3. Yeah, Ianm is right. You "poisoned" your body all these years, you can't expect that it's better in two weeks. Hugs, Stef
  4. Wow, awesome. Good to know, there are some famos people out there with celiac. Hugs, Stef
  5. Hello Deb, I'm very sorry for your loss. But I thought this might be evidence, that some people in your family might be celiac, too. Without knowing it. Since there are so many cancer cases. Hugs, Stef
  6. Hello Maggie, if you started in December with your glutenfree diet and your like I was, then around now it should be much better. It took me like three month, too. I started with the glutenfree diet end of July and around September/October I already felt much better and in December I haven't had any heart problems at all any more. Hugs, Stef
  7. Hi Deb, I can so relate. I hate smoke. My husband stopped smoking for me. And when I was a little kid I always had problems with smelling some parfumes, too. I remember my mother always put one on and I felt gaggy afterwards. Somebody once told me, that cigarettes can be parfumed and it's the same reaction as to the actual parfume. I don't know. Either...
  8. Thanks for telling us, that it's updated. They had just updated it before last chistmas somewhen and I printed it out. And I thought, they update it once a year or so. I wouldn't have looked again. So thanks, I already printed the new one out. Hugs, Stef
  9. When I was younger (child) I never paid much attention to my weight. With 17 I competed for the first time in the 50 kg (110 lbs) class and those days I had 49.5 kg (109 lbs). My height is 5'3". With every year that passed I gained!!! weight, despite working out like a nutball. And soon I had slight problems to hold the 50 kg weigth. After three years or...
  10. Yeah, don't know where they are going is really bad. I sometimes sit here thinking: "...don't let it be Irak...don't let it be Irak...". I didn't know how many women in here were pregnant. Wow! I hope, when I'm pregnant, there will be some other "fellow-celiacs" pregnant in here, too. So we also can compare. But well... Congratulations to you all and...
  11. Phew! I'm really relieved to hear that. And I already thought, something's wrong with me . Well, something IS wrong with me, since I still have pain sometimes, but I haven't figured out what it is yet. But now it's not the stool problem anymore. Hugs, Stef
  12. I like the fact that they mentioned that also thick people can have celiac, not only thin people. Some things are said a little stupid, but to be honest. This is the best-written celiac article (from a layman probably) I ever saw so far. We're getting more publicity. Woohoo Hugs, Stef
  13. Oh, for the bread in the center, is the bread cubed before cooking in the oven to crisp it? Do you put chives or anything on them before crisping it in oven? Thanks for your recipes. It really sounds yummy, I have to try it. So it's called a potatoe ricer. You learn something everyday...lol. But with the mashed potatoes. I just wanted to say, it...
  14. Hey Maggie, I know the being short of breath and balance problem real good. I had that in my "end-stadium" so to speak, before I got my diagnosis. Since going glutenfree however it got better and better everyday. But when i'm sitting down, I have something around 60, too. Sometimes more and sometimes (very seldom though) less. And I still do now after being...
  15. Yeah, I think, it's embarrasing, too. But if you want to stay healthy as a celiac, you have to learn when and where to "investigate" . Hugs, Stef
  16. You can make a slight variation, when you put a little bit of chopped chives in the dumplings. Or another variation is, when you put a piece of bread in the center, when you form them. The bread should be glutenfree of course. And we took old bread for it, that we baked until it was crunchy in the pan, before putting it into the dumpling. Hm! Yam! Yam! That...
  17. I can't find the recipe right now, but actually it's really simple. I try to explain without the recipe: First you bring water to a boil and then throw the potatoes in. I always take about 4 or 5 big potatoes for about 4 dumplings. Let them cook until they are real soft. Then take them out, peal them, throw them in a press. I never actually found a...
  18. Yes, I'm planing a Sweater and/or T-shirt for our travel team. That will have the team-name on the back and on the front something like: "sponsored by Stef G...glutenfree". I don't know, still working on it. I wanted to put it in a rhyme though. But at the moment i'm really busy with finishing all our team suits first. I will give you guys the Pic-Url, when...
  19. Try to find out, if there's a health food store or a giants near you. Giants has several sections with glutenfree noodles and cereals and so would the health food store. Do you have the possibility to make something on your own, like in a self-cooking kitchen or something? Hugs, Stef
  20. Hm, how is that anyway? Are the soldiers allowed to come home, when there is a due date with a pregnancy? Oh, all that talking about cravings made me hungry for chocolate with hazelnuts. Oh!!!
  21. Hm, never seen anything like that either. Mine is always a little bit lighter brown and then dark brown again. Or sometimes these two colors in one... What did you eat the days before? Hugs, Stef
  22. And I forgot one thing. Because of that anxiety that I might break down, I was holding back most of the time to "safe" energy. My problem now is, I've gotten so used to hold back the last 7 years, that I have to learn now, to go and get my points. I've become into a real defense fighter . Hugs, Stef
  23. Hey, wow, you speak out of my heart. Couldn't have said it better . I was so anxious all the time to need a time out, that I was cramping and THEN I really needed a time out. It was like a vicious circle. But most of the time I was thinking, that my trainer sure thinks how lazy I must be. Because it looked like I'm doing nothing for my condition, which...
  24. Yes, mine's lower, too. Weird... I don't know the Fahrenheit though, since we measure it in Celsius. But still, it's under... Especially, when I glutened myself accidentaly. Hugs, Stef
