ARCHIVED How Do You Reward Yourself?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Wandering Hermit's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I admit it: I'm a reward JUNKIE. This has nothing to do with being celiac however. I also did it before. When I had a good and successfull workout for example. Then I never went home without a good treat. Icecream, chocolate or whatever. And this stayed until today. At the moment I fill myself up with hot blueberry pie and vanilla icecream. Hmmm... -
Hey guys, I looked for this soooo long. In germany I always had this extract, that helped me improve this stupid cracking in my left knee. I have searched for it everywhere, but I couldn't find it. Now I found it. Weehee! It's even glutenfree. It's an extract from green-lipped mussels from New Zealand. And this is really good for your joints, even when...

ARCHIVED Gf Diet And Cravings
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Twister2's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hello Twister, hang in there. You hopefully will feel better soon. I'm already worried about that, too, though. My hubby and I wanted to try it as soon as we move into our own house. So we might start to go for it pretty soon here. Hope you feel better soon and keep us posted. -

ARCHIVED "you Might Be A Celiac If....."
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
You might be a celiac, if you think of paradise as a glutenfree world instead of a place where angels fly around. I hope I said that right . You might know, what I mean. -
ARCHIVED De-lurking With A Couple ?'s
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Morrisun's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome to this message board! Tiffany, I wouldn't necessarily say, she was ignorant of the dangers. She just reacted like everybody else, who we tell: "Oh, I have celiac disease, I can't eat this" and they look at you, as if you're from mars. Because people can't know. That's because this is so rare, the awareness needs to raise and the doctors should... -
ARCHIVED Coping With Stubborn Siblings
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to stemanndemon's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi stemanndemon, I think, you're on the right track. I already thought that last year, but nobody believed me and I didn't have evidence for this. The mother of my mother-in-law lives in an elderly home, because she can't take care of herself anymore and has Alzheimer's. I said that to my mother-in-law MONTHS ago and told her I'm 100% positive that a glutenfree... -
ARCHIVED Where You From?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Wow ! A lot of celiacs from PA here. Guys, we should meat. Maybe we could make a thread where we decide when and where we meat. Oh, by the way, we're (my husband and I) moving. As of May 1st we will live in the Township (I first thought it's a municipality) of wheatfield . -
ARCHIVED How Long Have U Had Cd?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to wickedclown's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
OK, I'm not a teenager either. Does it count, when you look like one??? (hugs to all the baby-faces out there) I'm kind of self-diagnosed. My doc still doesn't really believe it. He's like: 'Ok, you're blood-levels were just slightly elevated and didn't show much and you had no biopsy. But, heck, if you feel better... just do what you want...and when you... -
ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed, This Is Tougher Than I Thought
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Rufus376's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Even if your dad and your sister suffer from a glutenintolerance, so that you are kind of predestined to get it. That doesn't mean, you have to get it. This mostly has to be triggered. Stress can be a trigger. So if you had a lot of stress in your first year in college, that might have triggered it. So your stomache problems were actually caused by this,... -
ARCHIVED Then Last Item With Gluten You Ate...
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Mine was an Amstel light. Because somebody on this message board told me the European celiacs could have it, because it's glutenfree. Well, it's not. I felt it the next day. -
ARCHIVED Half Moons On Fingernails
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I found something about Vitamin B-12 on a german website. I tried to translate the most important stuff: Vitamin B-12, also called cobalamine, is like folic acid there to help building the bloodcells. A lack of vitamin B-12 leads to the socalled pernicious anemia, where the bloodcells aren't completely build. Before the blood picture gets abnormal a little... -
Same problem with me here. I had a lot of acid reflux medications, but nothing helped. Couple of weeks on the gluten-free diet worked wonders with me. Good luck, Stef

ARCHIVED Could These Be Symptoms Too?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to dfish's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
In medicine school I learnt that swallowing problems and cough that won't stop could be one additional sign of a heart attack. But since you've had every test with your doctor, you should've ruled that out. It was just one thing I thought about firsthand, when I started to read your thread. But being dizzy, "foggy", fatitgued and having the GERD. I had that... -

ARCHIVED Gluten-free Day At Hersheypark
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to ryebaby0's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Wow, that's need. My student who also has celiac will come with me and some of my team-members. They are very aware of this disease thanks to me, even though they don't have it. I kind of pounded it into them. Hayaa! No, just kidding! Yeah, that would really be great, if we could meet. And since my birthday this year is the last one with a 2 in front of the... -
ARCHIVED "you Might Be A Celiac If....."

You might be a celiac,... if you know what a food diary is and you know how to use it. if you know all the health food stores in your area and can tell the shortest/fastest way how to get there. -

Wow, she's even better than I am. I just watch it, if I don't have anything else to do. Which isn't very often. But when I have time to watch TV and Texas Ranger Walker is running, I always watch this. Stef -
ARCHIVED Confused
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to aili's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hello aili, WELCOME to our message board. Yes, there are a few more possibilities to figure out what the culprit could be. But some doctors don't like these other possibilities. Nevertheless you can do this, if you want. There is another way to get tested for celiac and/or other food allergies. Go to www.enterolab.com, they make tests with the stool... -
Yes, you're right, Shirley. That's what I actually ment, but I was a little bit in a hurry yesterday. And so some things came out wrong. I ment, mine went away on the glutenfree diet, but you always should go to your doctor.

I had acid reflux and was diagnosed with GERD before my real diagnosis. I also had heartburn and problems. But all that disappeared on the glutenfree diet.

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to ryebaby0's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Ooooh, we have to do this, too! My birthday is at the 26th. I could celebrate it then even better. And at the 21st I'm one year glutenfree. Woah, how the time passes. We guys could actually meet there. We will have a blast!!! -

Hello Tammy, yep, i'm back. Wihiee! My team and I actually attended one of the big world tournaments of the NASKA association (www.naska.com) in Rhode Island 8th to 10th of April. We had a blast. Two celiacs and 4 non-celiacs on the road. What a chaos . There was Chuck Norris, too. Didn't get to talk to him. But we were passing him, when we left the... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Have A Recipe For Funnel Cake?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to msserena's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Funnel cake looks real strange actually. It's baked and sometimes it looks like worms or ropes mixed up somehow. And there's sugar on it. I can't really describe it. But that's how it looks to me. Stef
