ARCHIVED Q: To Those W/pheriphal Neuropathy
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to debmidge's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The nerve damage I had, seems to be different from all the nerve damages on this board. I had a sharp pain down the outside of my right leg sometimes. But mine disappeared with the glutenfree diet completely. -
ARCHIVED Dry Skin
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to melhopkins02's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I never thought of this being a symptom of celiac. But now that you mention it, I have very dry skin, too. My mom (who I think has celiac, too) has the same problem (among other celiac problems). She also had pretty bad psoriasis and her hair started falling out. It's much better now, but it used to be pretty bad at one point. Well, in a little bit over a... -

ARCHIVED Question For The Non-celiac Spouses...
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to frenchiemama's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Wow this is a interesting topic. My husband used to say "I don't want to take your foods away from you", too. But after I opened my shop I was so busy, that I couldn't make 2 meals anymore. So I explained this to him and now we all eat glutenfree regular meals and he can have his gluten beer and munchiestuff. Similar like with the other Stephanie in here... -
ARCHIVED Do You Ever Just Not Care?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Janelson's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I thought exactly like Megan. I tried to think about foods I would like to have and then I substituted them. And doing this I also found out that a lot of these foods actually are glutenfree already. Like the Nutella I eat, yummy That the Fruity Pepples from Post are gluten-free I found out with a stupid co-incidence . I went for groceries. And during... -
ARCHIVED In Shock!
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to boysmom8's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Lori wow ! ALL people in your family with symptoms sound exactly like me, except the dermatitis. Well, I at least think it could be dh with you, not lupus. You might wanna check that out. I think, doctors don't know that much about celiac, because they don't get taught that much, when they go to school. That's because the Pharma industry doesn... -
ARCHIVED Eating Out Gf In Orlando
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Karen(England)'s topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hi Karen, if you're in the MGM studios, you can buy plain turkey legs there. We just came back from the MGM studios this monday (4th of July) and Kathy and I (we're both celiacs) ate those turkey legs and didn't have any problems. It says turkey legs on the food vendor booth and it's near the "Tower of Terror" and the "Aerosmith Rollercoaster". But for... -
ARCHIVED Canning
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to inmyhead's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey, it's me again, I thought it would be good, if we could maybe exchange canning recipes. I made strawberry jam. So if you need my recipe, you can have it. I'm also interested, in what you are canning . -
ARCHIVED Canning
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to inmyhead's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi there, I just started with canning and had my first successfull results with CERTO fruit pectin. Certo is from Kraft Foods and if their food contains anything we can't eat, they state it clearly on the label. Good luck with canning and fun while eating -
ARCHIVED Gf Travel Group?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to MelanieGF's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Wow, this is awesome. I will definitely try Bob & Ruth. Some people of our sports team are already glutenfree. Including me of course. And when we travel, the ENTIRE group has to do what WE want to (of course only concerning the food). And since I'm the instructor they don't have a choice. Either they go for it or stay at home . For example sleep... -
ARCHIVED New To The Board
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to boysmom8's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hello there, Welcome to the board!!! I'm a german, but a resident of the United States. In germany there were already several cases of people (also kids) all ages, that tested negative and a couple of years later suddenly they were positive . One thing that might be the reason, is the fact, that you can be a celiac, but the damage of the villi... -

ARCHIVED Just Need To Vent
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to junevarn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi June, some people are just stupid. I know you feel bad, cause I had a similar situation on another message board once. But you just have to ignore them . There's no other way unfortunately. You did your best in giving them information. If they don't want to, it's their own fault and not yours . When this happened to me a couple of month ago I cried... -
ARCHIVED Gas Station Cappuccino

ARCHIVED Biopsy Is Tomorrow!
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Bette's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Just because the biopsy is negative, doesn't mean, you're celiac. The damage to your villi is just the tip of the iceberg. It's not clever to wait that long, just to see the prove in the biopsy. If you feel better on a glutenfree diet, you might still be a celiac . I hope you feel better soon on the glutenfree diet . And don't be sad about the pizza. With... -
ARCHIVED What Is Pectin?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Sure, it's a recipe for peach jam: 1 cup sugar 1 tbsp. low-sugar fruit pectin 2 cups thawed frozen sliced peaches 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg 2 tsp. lemon juice I found the fruit pectin. Our health food store didn't have it. I found it in the same shelf with the canning supply in giant. Does anybody have a recipe for strawberry... -
ARCHIVED I Made It!
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Sports and Fitness
Thanks, donna! I studied all day for my written motorcycle test. I passed. We had 50 questions and I had 5 wrong. Sunday is the practical... My weight yesterday was 111 lbs. I didn't do anything at all today. And I didn't hop on the scales, cause I use the ones in the YMCA. They are more accurate than mine. And I didn't even drive there today. Tomorrow... -

ARCHIVED Gas Station Cappuccino
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to UIDancer's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I would like to have the french vanilla from Sheetz again so bad, that it's not funny anymore. I just don't know, if this contains any gluten. -
ARCHIVED Wondering If I Might Be Glutin Intolerant....
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to TheCatWhisperer's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello CatWhisperer, yes, it's possible, to have celiac for a long time and not know about it. As Kaiti already said, the average is 11 years. I'm also 28. I had pain for 7 years and I believe I had it before that also, just not triggered. A tooth surgery triggered the celiac symptoms with me. After that tooth surgery I also became allergic to aspirin....
