ARCHIVED Another Gluten Article In The News
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Nevadan's topic in Publications & Publicity
Very good article. But as of 2004 it's 1 in 100 people in the states that have celiac according to a 2004 research. 1 in 133 was the research of 2003. I don't know, if they actually made one in 2005. And I can't really remember where I read it, but I did read it on here... -
ARCHIVED Son Embarressed
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to dwaters800's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I just thought the same thing, when I read yours. Some people really only get it that way. Why do some people react so strange? I don't get it...Maybe I'm too blue eyed... Why do they make a big scene out of THAT? You should wash your hands anyway before EVERY dinner. Not only because of allergies or celiac, but you could also have held your hand... -
That's because you forgot the square bracket at the end.

Thanks Jillian, I will definitely check that out, when I'm in New York again. Hugs, Stef

ARCHIVED Celebrities With Celiac?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to lauderdalehawk44's topic in Publications & Publicity
I wish I don't know about other European celiacs, but with me it took 7 years (almost 8) to figure it out. And if I wouldn't have been in medical school I probably still wouldn't know... This doesn't really surprise me , if it would be so, cause he always runs around like his face is painted white. Anemia is a symptom of celiac, too. ... -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Nancy W's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Nancy, I did this, when I prepared for the world championships last year. The funny thing, I didn't even know, that it's called the Paleo diet. But from your explanation that's what it was then. And let me tell you I never felt better in my entire life. If you want to try it, go for it! Hugs, Stef -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to jessika393's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Boy, does this sound familiar. And I already thought, that I maybe also have thyroid problems, because of having the same symptoms than some of you people on here with thyroid problems. It never occurred to me, that this as well might be the other way around. Maybe this doesn't mean, that I have thyroid problems, maybe this just means, that it's a for celiac... -

I think, this is an awesome idea. My last name starts with G, so it's my turn to go . I'm still thinking about other things to raise more awareness. I already have a view ideas, but I need help for that. Next year I will join our local celiac support group and maybe get some people into helping. Speaking about celebrities. I don't wanna be cocky, but... -

Wow, I just came home from our work supper. I came into our house and thought, better leave your jacket on, because it's so cold. I sat down in front of the computer and came to this forum and the first thing I read is this. Haha , yeah, I'm always cold, too. I guess, I'll print this out for my hubby and my in-laws, cause my mil thinks I'm that cold, cause... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Handle People Who Refuse To Recognize This Celiac Stuff?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to frustratedneicey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello Barb, quite a lot of years ago doctors thought, that you generally lose weight and have to be a child, when you have celiacs disease. A couple of years ago however they found out, that celiac isn't a childhood disease and that you also can be obese. There is no such thing as generally gaining or losing weight. Everybody reacts different. Now the... -

New Bloomfield is about 30 minutes North of Carlisle. That means, if you travel up 34. I'm not quite in New Bloomfield yet. I'm living beside 34 at Meck's Corner/Township of Wheatfield. Where I live is between 20 to 25 minutes from Carlisle. But I'm pretty much every day in Carlisle and between 5 to 10 times a year I'm in Chambersburg, too. Because of the... -

Just remember guys, brainfog (and even Alzheimers) is a symptom of celiac. SHE might have it herself . Oh, BTW, frustratedneicy. I'm from PA, too. And Carlisle, where I work is not quite an hour from Jacobus. Hugs, Stef -
Hello Hez, I'm sorry to hear, you feel depressed about the food you can't have. I'm sure we have all gone through that and it really does get easier. But you know what I sometimes really think? Yes, it's hard, when you have traditions that are wrapped around food. But even more it's sad. It's sad, because the holiday traditions shouldn't be about food...

ARCHIVED My Husband Doesn't "get It" How Do I Help Him Understand?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to chrissy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
These two things leaped at me, too. Chrissy, in case you're not tested for celiac, I think it would be a good idea to do that. And that cat litter has wheat in it, is incredible. Now I know, what made me sick, when I cleaned our guinea pigs. We used kitty litter instead of that other stuff. Hugs, Stef -

ARCHIVED Dealing With Family
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Nancym's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sure people normally know what they're allergic to. And that's where the point lies. I think it shouldn't surprise us, that some of us didn't know it before, because celiac disease is not an allergy. It can hide under other symptoms. A lot of people don't even know they have it, so how should we know, what we can't have???
