  1. Hi Lauren, I just wrote a new post about my experience at Outbacks a few days ago, because now they apparently have glutenfree beer. I had my experience in Mechanicsburg, PA. I wanted to ask, in case you work at another Outbacks, because our server also wrote glutenfree in big letters on the order. So maybe it was you??? Do all of the Outbacks have glutenfree...
  2. Hello all you celiac-Outbacks-fans! I was very excited. I just went to our Outback's around here. It's in Mechanicsburg, PA. We go there at least once a month. Kathy, my student, invited me there. So we went in, ordered both our glutenfree menus. After we sat down, the server came, and brought us our glutenfree menus, like always. However then she said...
  3. This is a very good post. I believe my grandmom (on my mom's side) had celiac and my mother has it. My grandmother got some kidney stones removed pretty much every year up until she died from intestinal cancer and some other issues, that I think are related to celiac. Well, before I was diagnosed I could drink gallons of water each day and still be thirsty...
  4. Hello Jillian, I think, this is a great idea, that you want to write a letter. First I wanted to do the same, however I didn't at the time. I don't know why. Well, now it's about 2 years later and they probably won't remember anymore or have new employees. So much can change in 2 years. Then they also are about 90 minutes from us, so there's a slim chance...
  5. Yes, I found those optima shakes after I went to a qualifier with some of my students. They wanted to get their fighting weight down (one of my students is 300 pounds) and they had some slim fasts with them. I was wondering, if they were glutenfree so I looked at their website and found those shakes. I would have posted it on here to drag your attention on...
  6. Yes, I read that. I read an article somewhere else about online labratories that test for certain diseases and if they are worth the money. Celiac was mentioned, too. I can't remember the name of the magazine. However I know, where I read that magazine, it was in the YMCA. Tuesday I will go back and see which one it was. Hugs, Stef
  7. Hi Jillian, that has happened to me, too. At a chinese restaurant. I replied the same way you did. After they heard about my "allergy", they told me to leave and that they wouldn't serve me . I guess, there's nothing you can't do. I decided not to eat at a restaurant anymore, that acts that stupid and tell other people about this, just to boycott them...
  8. Hi there deb, I didn't read the article yet, because I'm really busy lately. However I'm also on the german celiac self support message board and over there they already know, that babies can be actually born with the celiac disease. The birth triggered it most of the time, because the birth is not only traumatic for the mother, it's traumatic for the...
  9. Yes, that's what I heard, too. Rice and corn contain gluten, but not the one we need to avoid...
  10. Sorry, I posted twice, how can I delete my second post???
  11. With most of the foods it also depends on the brand. Some brands make foods glutenfree, while the same food from another brand can contain gluten. Everything said on here is fine and actually everything already was said. So, sorry, when I repeat myself, just my two cents . I wouldn't eat rice krispies, unless they are made from a brand that makes glutenfree...

  13. I'm so sorry for you. How are you feeling today? We had a nasty stomache bug going around here, too. Sounds like one . I only threw up once, too. But I felt real gaggy and nasty the rest of the time . This is a nasty one. Ginger ale and glutenfree crackers helped with me. Take good care of you. Jerseyangel, I didn't even know you had surgery. What...
  14. I'm feeling better since Monday now. No more freezing. Tomorrow after the doctors visit I will come back and let you know the latest news. Funny story: I e-mailed my childhood best friend and told her I'm pregnant and that I am self employed since last year. Her e-mail came back: Congratulations! I'm pregnant as well and I am also self employed since last...
  15. In the third one it said, I'm a type B as well. But I couldn't see the exact % anywhere. Stef
  16. Hello there, welcome to Russ and Ann! I have some questions and answers at the same time! I had muscle twitches in my calves, thighs and eye lids. After going glutenfree, they all disappeared. But there's another thing, that is almost gone. My right eyelid used to sink down, when I started to get tired. When this happened I wasn't able to open it on my...
  17. What I also don't like is, when something with gluten is served as an appetizer (like the bread in Outbacks), that they bring me an extra plate, fork and knife. If the waiter would be educated, he shouldn't bring a plate for me to begin with. Last time in Outbacks I told him, I don't need a plate for the bread, because I can't eat it anyway, after ordering...
  18. Hello Betsy, I might have heard of it in my german medicine education, but sometimes the names are different in english. What is William's Syndrome? Stef
  19. This is interesting. The one test said, that I'm ENFJ. I read the description. That one fit to a T. In the second one I was an INTJ. Stef
  20. I always have my letter from the doctor with me and never had any problems. I already flew when they had the new liquid restrictions. And even though celiac does not have an anaphylactic reaction, there are celiac bracelets... and the guys at the airport don't know anyway I'd use it to my advantage... Security at the airport also told me, that it's not a...
  21. Here's the latest update. I've been feeling really bad on and off since christmas morning. First we thought, it's morning sickness. In general I'm always cold, so I didn't think anything about me freezing. Unless we took temperature. I had a fever, so it couldn't have been morning sickness. It might have been a stomache bug with some head cold mixed in there...
  22. Yes, there's wheat filling mixed into the filling in some boxing gloves, too. No joke! You might be a celiac, if... you're embarrased at a buffet, because someone announced, nobody would be allowed to get food, before you did. your significant other bursts out with "I swear something's wrong with you! Go to the doctor!" after you farted and...
  23. I had bloodwork done almost three years ago and it was positive. Never had the biopsy, cause I'm a sissy. Doc said, no problem, gluten challenge. So I didn't eat any gluten for months and the challenge was positive, too. When my mom came over here to the US to visit, I did the same thing with her for one month. When she went back to Germany she ate normal...
  24. What does this mean "his mind would give way"? Apparently I'm not as good in old-english as I thought. Does this mean, they were afraid, he would go crazy? Well, after he read this article in the newspaper he probably did ! Stef
  25. Hello Elizabeth, congratulations on being pregnant and welcome to the board! I'm also pregnant. I just found out a few days before christmas. We are not so far from each other week-wise. I should be around 9 or 10 weeks at the moment. I wish you good luck with your pregnancy. Not every woman gets morning sickness. Some never have it. But everything said...
