  1. Wow, how neat. I totall missed this thread. My parents-in-law live near Bellefonte and when I drive up there (60 minute drive), I always come through State College. So I will print out this thread and check out all those wonderful places, you've been writing about. And yes, Wegman's supermarket has a glutenfree isle. I always shop there, when I visit...
  2. There's something I forgot to tell you. I also still had stomache pain every time I ate glutenfree for about approximately 6 months. Today I'm fine. And, yeehaaw, I'm 8.5 months pregnant as well. How cool! When is your due date? Mine is Aug 22nd. This once more proofs, that not only celiacs have a problem with gluten. Gluten is just not meant...
  3. Yes, that's pretty normal . I'm in week 37 right now. So ready to pop... lol! And earlier in my pregnancy I had the same problem. Now I still have pretty much the same problem with the exception, that I almost go everyday, but I'm still very constipated. My dh said, "Well, if you have to go everyday, you're not constipated." So I asked Kathy, she already...
  4. With #1 I would say, it's never ok to bribe a child with food. Grandparents or not. They need to know about this and that they shouldn't do it. #2 I'd also say 'no prisoners'. The health of your child is way more important than their feelings. So I would talk to them about this. You can take the rice krispies box (mentioned earlier) as an example of...
  5. Amen! I seriously considered putting THAT on a t-shirt... lol! Welcome to the board
  6. @ Kassandra: I know, what you are talking about. I hate people like that. I bet, she didn't even try, she just said something, so that she had something to say. If it's appropriate or not . People should just shut up at times... @ NoGluGirl: I just saw, that you are from Evansville, IN. That's where our WKA kickboxing and forms qualifying tournament...
  7. Hello lailabean, yes, it will get better with time. I think, it's great, that your new house will be 100% glutenfree. Did you also think about replacing his old toothbrush? I know, I know, you should do that anyways every now and so often, but that's just a thought. You don't sound like you do, but if you drink beer, you must know, beer isn't glutenfree...
  8. Some people also are in denial. There was a good article out there a few years ago. Or was it even in a book? Can't remember this anymore. It said, that (like also said on this post already) grains (it stated wheat for the most part) were never meant to be eaten by humans. It said, that at the beginning, when humankind first discovered wheat, EVERYBODY had...
  9. Oh, btw, even on airplanes sometimes the airlines will offer a glutenfree menu. I thought, there was a list on this message board here at one time with the telefone numbers, wasn't it? Haven't been here for a while. Maybe somebody else can help out. Here in the states you can get a glutenfree menu at Outback steakhouse and Carrabbas, but you have to ask...
  10. That is very sad news. I will keep those young men and their families in my prayers. I can't believe, he got arrested for this. They should have hunted down the shooter instead. How dumb!!!
  11. Thanks... lol! I'm so itchy to do martial arts again at the moment, it isn't even funny anymore. I'm just arrived back home from teaching and even though I had contractions throughout teaching, I was actually participating and even showing arm bars on the back for a few seconds. It even made me feel better than not moving at all. And now I know, that doing...
  12. Hello Scott, I wish you a wonderful birthday. Thank you for everything you do for us. This is a wonderful place!!! Stef
  13. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. After me disappearing for quite a while, I'm surprised, that you guys remember me... lol . Anyways, thank you!
  14. And when the oldest one gets tested and it comes back negative, then you must reply "That might not save you, a negative result can become positive anytime, you have to be retested every year"... lol.
  15. This is not very fair to your situation. You are not celiac by choice, so it's not fair, that they are picking on you like that. You should let them know!
  16. When I started the glutenfree diet 3 years ago, my body hurt like it's detoxing from something. I never took any (hard) drugs in my life. I just had to take pain killers everyday for like 7 years to help against my celiac migraine and I guess, that's what it was. Not sure though...
  17. Susie, I'm very sorry for your loss. I know, nothing, that I will say or do, will make it any easier for you. I just hope, one day you will have the chance to have another healthy baby and I will keep you in my prayers. Stef
  18. I don't even know, what Nesquik milkshake powder is, never even heard of it. And I'm an absolute Nesquik fan. I drank it in Germany, while still living there, and now here. I only know about the syrup and the chocolate milk and strawberry milk drink from Nesquik.
  19. Yes, I'm german, just pm me, whatever you want me to translate for you and I'll send it back to you as soon as I can.
  20. And always keep in mind. You're living your life for yourself, not your parents and not for your friends. You have to be happy with the job you chose. And always remember: It is never too late to change your job.
  21. I was a police officer in Germany, but dropped out of that job, cause my coworkers mopped me and it was too much stress. Then after that, I opened my own martial arts group, but I didn't have a set place for it. I just rented some gyms. Then in addition to that, I worked at Securitas at the American barracks in Wuerzburg and then Giebelstadt, where I met...
  22. There are some very good answers on here, guys. Keep 'em coming! Even though this friend might be lost, there might be a next time with somebody else, where I or we are able to explain better...
  23. Wow, Patti, that is interesting. I have to give that one to my student, Kathy. She has her DH diagnosis, but the celiac diagnosis wasn't quite so clear. And now she is in denial and said several times "Oh, I don't have it so severe as you Stef." She was cheating on the diet before, I'm not sure, if she's still cheating anymore, but in restaurants, she still...
  24. July 21st 2004, was the exact date I had my dx. This is exactly three years as of today. I was 27 back then and really, really sick. So, if it's not possible to diagnose celiac at a later age, then it's all in my head and I am crazy. But I am not. So one more living proof, like so many on here, that celiac can be diagnosed at any age and you will have it...
  25. Na, Ursa, wie geht's? Ich war lange nicht mehr hier im Forum... Now I just checked back into this forum yesterday and today and what do I read? Ursa is in Germany! Cool, I might go back at the end of August, beginning of September, but I'm not sure about that yet. Did you find glutenfree "Kaiserbroetchen" over there? Because I can't ask my mom that, she...
