  1. With all the raves about EDM I'm about to order a sample kit, and the "dead fish" color looks like it might be right on for me. (I'm super pale, with freckles.) SO, if no one else will take it off your hands, I might be interested. What might you want to swap for? I have a bunch of stuff from other mineral makeup companies that I could be persuaded...

    Gi Visit

Today was my visit with the GI doctor. I think I like this guy. He asked a lot of questions, and took a lot of notes. I told him that there's a history of IBS in my family, as well as Diverticulitis and Ulcerative Colitis. I also told him that I'd been 'diagnosed' with IBS about 8 years ago. He asked me "How were you diagnosed?" I must have had a funny...
  3. The same thing happens to me. On my scalp, chest, face (mainly my chin and neck right near my jaw bone) and they ITCH like CRAZY. But I also get tiny ones on my upper arms that itch, and on my back. The ones on my chin are deep and painful, but everything else just looks like little pimples. I thought perhaps the itchy scalp was related to all of this...
  4. Pasta - just ignore anything that isn't Tinkyada. We used the Tinkyada shells with cheese sauce and it was awesome! There's one we bought that was in a green bag......Mrs. Something.......not so good. I know I've seen recommendations here for pizza crust/dough, but I haven't tried any of those yet. I'll be sure to update you when I do!
  5. I have two local stores I can purchase them from - one is a locally owned "Family Health Market" and the other is a Sprouts Farmers Market type grocery store. You might check your local health food stores (if you have them) or possibly Whole Foods? Otherwise you can purchase off the website, and they do have trial sizes of most of their products. I...
  6. Not to hijack, but I have a question for you ladies using the Burt's Bees lip balms......what, specifically are you using? I looked at several in the store the other day, and the ones in the slim tube have tocopherol in them, but the ones in the squeeze tube didn't appear to. I guess I'm unclear on whether tocopherol is actually a problem? Also, I'm pretty...
  7. Hi Lou, At least your doc seems to know what he's talking about! You hit the nail on the head, I think. "I know it's not all in my head......" It's really frustrating, because I'm the only one that knows how awful I feel (well, I'm sure people here can relate) - outwardly, I look ok to most everyone else. For me, I think if my test results...
  8. Found some links for you! This link is to my sister's friend's blog: Open Original Shared Link In her blog entry, there are a couple of links for sources on learning to make it. Hope that helps!
  9. As I understand it, making kombucha is a several day process (my sister's best friend makes it), and I also understand that it's quite smelly (her husband leaves the house when she's making it). My sister introduced me to kombucha a few months back, and maybe it was the particular flavor she bought, but I have mixed feelings about it. If it's got the...
  10. I'm not going to be a huge help here, since I only did a 4-day gluten-free diet and then back on the gluten, but.......... Let's take pretzels as an example. Roll'd Gold. Yummy, right? Glutino makes gluten-free Bretzels that are light and airy and taste better than the Roll'd Gold (IMO). There are a ton of gluten-free foods available, and...
  11. Well, I did some research on the GI that I'll be seeing, and I see a tiny glimmer of hope. Apparently he's a good listener, explains things very well, and is very thorough (testimonials from a local message board from people that have gone to see him). So I'm counting the days until my appointment, and continuing on my glutenous torture. I can't...
  12. Thanks Jessica! Have a sip of wine for me. Well I finally got through to the GI office, and I have an appointment set up for July 16th. (The recommended doc didn't have availability until August, so I went with this one - same office) Fingers crossed.
  13. Thanks for responding, you two. ShayFL - Good point about just telling the GI that there's a family history. The thought had crossed my mind, but then I felt guilty for thinking about lying. LOL MommaGoose - Yes, I know he was ill informed. I was too dumb founded at what he said to challenge him on it. Haven't gotten through to the GI office yet...
  14. Gerri, thanks for your comment. The items you added above - are those symptoms you have as well? I wish you luck with your biopsy - please post an update when you have results!
  15. I found this forum a couple of weeks ago while researching Celiac Disease, and since starting my research have become convinced that there's a very strong possibility that I have celiac disease. I have a long list of possibly connected symptoms that range over the last eight years. (See my Open Original Shared Link for a list.) Out of curiosity, I went...
  16. (I'm a little behind in posting, so this has been backdated.) So I saw a doctor today. He seemed really receptive to the things that I was telling him, but he said to me "well if you think it's gluten related then stop eating it for a while and see what happens." I asked him about the possibility of that affecting test results and he says "Oh they can...
  17. You can also use pure castille soap for laundry (liquid form) in a regular washing machine - not sure about front loaders though. I need to look into that....... You can also use it for cleaning - does a pretty decent job on soap scum! Plus, it's all natural inredients.
  18. Six days back into a glutenous diet, and last night I wanted to die. With a capital D. I ate a ceasar salad for dinner that had chicken, feta and parmesan cheese, portabella mushrooms and croutons. I also had a couple slices of foccacia bread with asiago cheese on it. Within 30 minutes of finishing dinner, I had a stomach ache. Within an hour, it felt like...
  19. Rachel--24 - Thanks, I did mean specifically for celiac disease. I just wondered if there were common vitamin deficiencies that could be tested for as well, not necessarily to diagnose celiac disease, but to be on the look out for. HouseKat - Is there a specific name for the DNA test? I'm still eating gluten, but went gluten-free for 4 short days as a...
  20. The need for a dr's note is just ridiculous. I can't think of anyone that would go to all that trouble to continue wearing a particular cosmetic. There are too many other companies out there that are eager and willing to help their customers. So long P&G.
  21. Well, I'm glad you got a response.............but is anyone else put off by that last sentence? Aren't there lots of people here that would/could say otherwise? Maybe I'm just cranky today........
  22. I only get to stay in bed that long on the weekends.......hubby gets up and doesn't bother to get me up. I don't know whether to thank him for it, or slug him when I do get up and he says "I thought you'd sleep all day!"
  23. I can relate - somewhat. For me, though, it seems to be sleeping too much and not feeling rested. I can sleep for 14 hours, drag myself out of bed and feel like I need to sleep for 14 more. Once I am up out of bed and moving, I can't sit down anywhere comfortable for more than a few minutes at a time, or I fall asleep. But when it comes time to actually...
  24. Thanks for replying nora_n! Did they find those things with blood tests? I wonder especially about vitamin deficiencies, as I lost a bunch of weight, can't seem to gain it back, and bruise really really easily. I'm also really tired all the time. I had some bloodwork done last November, but according to the doc, everything looked 'normal'. I know...
