Got a phone call from the GI doc's office with test results from the stool samples and my colonoscopy biopsies. "Everything looks normal; no indication of parasites or colitis. Follow ups are usually scheduled for 4-6 weeks after the colonoscopy." HUH?? All we've done is rule out some pretty bad stuff (for which I am quite grateful, don't get me wrong...

ARCHIVED Normal - Now What?
ohsotired posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just got a phone call from my GI's office with both my stool sample and colonoscopy biopsy results. "Everything looks normal. No parasites, no indication of colitis." The nurse said that the doc usually does a follow up 4-6 weeks after the scope. Uhmmmmmmm........kay.......but I still feel crappy, and we've not solved anything. Well, we've ruled... -
Mine is wearing thin. I still don't have test results from the stool samples, and don't expect biopsy results until early next week sometime. It's been really hard to sit around and NOT dwell on the possibilities. And if those come back negative, what next? I still need to address having the rest of the Celiac Panel done (they only tested for tTG IgA)...

To extend a bit further on the local support group......... Looks like there's a Open Original Shared Link in Austin. Or you could check out Open Original Shared Link to learn more about the group.

ARCHIVED Should I Do A Self-diagnosis Experiment?
ohsotired replied to fnord's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just wanted to comment that what April said fits me to a T, and thus far I've tested 'negative' for Celiac (my dr didn't run all the blood tests ) I've been like this since at least high school........feeling really tired in the afternoons, then catching that second wind between 8-10pm, often staying up until 1am or later, and being more productive than... -
ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
ohsotired replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Your post is worthless without pictures, my dear. Aren't those FUN though? Have you hit the website to see all the crazy colors? That company tends to be a little too sparkly for me, so I don't actually own any full size colors, but I'm planning on ordering some things from the custom pigment bar. Photos! We need photos! LOL Glad you're having... -
I'm not sure I can help you with doctors, but I wanted to say hello from Dallas. I have family in Austin, so perhaps I can ask around for you. I'm not dx'd yet, but both my sister and I are undergoing testing. I know it all seems very overwhelming (and I haven't even started yet) but try to take it one step at a time. I agree with Shay that you will...

ARCHIVED Looking For Celiacs In Austin Tx
ohsotired replied to gccoyote's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm up the way in North Dallas, but I come down to visit family in Austin several times a year.........would love to meet up with some of you the next time I'm down that way! -
This is intended to show the lighter side of my experience with having a colonoscopy. Please bear in mind it was NOT funny as I was going through it, but in retrospect, it's hilarious to me. I hope you find amusement in it as well. First of all, let me say that I was terrified - TERRIFIED - of having this done. Other than a skull fracture when I was...

ARCHIVED Grrrr.......blood Test Results
ohsotired replied to ohsotired's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I haven't had the opportunity to ask about any of the lab results yet with the doctor, but plan to either when they call with the rest of my lab results or at my follow up. The colonoscopy went well, although I'm still paying the price from the prep. (Will post more on this later.) The doc said everything looked good but took two biopsies to have the... -

That set is awesome, and a great price! Are you having fun with your goodies? -
Hi Caroline! Thanks for your comment! Wow, since you were two? How old are you now? That's crazy scary about the croutons sending you to the hospital - and that quickly too! I'll shoot you an email so we can chat a bit!

ARCHIVED Grrrr.......blood Test Results
ohsotired replied to ohsotired's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ugh. So frustrating! What more do they need from you? If your son has been dx'd with it, then I just don't get why they wouldn't run the whole stinking panel. I hope your allergist can help you figure it out. So from what I've gleaned after doing some research on the hemoglobin, hematocrit, and MCV "high" results..... High hemoglobin and hematocrit... -
Well, I'm always around, so next time you come this way, maybe we can go visit one of these places together! In case you have trouble with the PM feature, just click on my username, and then click 'Send Message'. Hope that helps!

When you do make it to one in Texas, I'd be curious to know what you think! I'm in the north Dallas area, so if you can find out the name of the seafood place, I'd love to go try it out. I don't get over towards Highland Village very often (unless I'm going to visit the in-laws), but I'll keep an eye open the next time I'm over that way to see if I can...

Hi Jenny! Just wondering if you've been to any of the ones in TX? I was just curious if one was any better than another. Thx!

ARCHIVED Grrrr.......blood Test Results
ohsotired posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yesterday I got a call from my GI's office, saying that all my blood work was "normal". Today, I stopped by to pick up a copy for my own records, and so that I could see for myself. They ran a CBC w/differential/platelet - shows high hemoglobin, hematocrit, and MCV. (Should I be concerned about this?) They also rn C-Reactive Protein and a Comp... -
ARCHIVED Let The Games Begin.... (long)
ohsotired replied to ohsotired's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just a little update.......... Last week I saw the GI doc and had a good first impression. He really seemed to listen and he took a lot of notes and asked a lot of questions. I told him that I had been "diagnosed" with IBS about 8 years ago, and he actually asked me "How were you diagnosed?" I told him "The doc just said 'I think it's IBS'." He sighed... -
ARCHIVED Hi!
ohsotired replied to tikigirl22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I haven't been diagnosed, but bread is always the first thing I crave. Pasta is a close second. They both make me feel terrible. I'm with ya on the pasta thing - except it usually hits me before we even leave the restaurant. I remember one time I wasn't sure I'd be able to get up and walk to the car. I made it, but I felt like a little old lady with a walker... -
Got a phone call from the GI office today. Blood test results.......(drum roll)...............normal. No further details on what normal means or what all they tested for. I'm going to swing by tomorrow and pick up printed copies for my records and see what exactly they tested for. Stool samples were dropped off on 7/21 so still waiting on those...

ARCHIVED Funny Rendition Of A Colonoscopy
ohsotired replied to irish daveyboy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Oh how timely. I have a colonoscopy scheduled for the 28th of this month (never had one before). I was already freaked out about it........and now............ I did actually laugh out loud while reading this though. Glad there's a humorous side to it. -
ARCHIVED Could My Physician Have Been Mistaken?
ohsotired replied to Woolygimp's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
How was the biopsy done? Directly on top of one of the bumps, or immediately next to it? It's my understanding that in order for the biopsy to be accurate, it needs to be taken from the area right next to it rather than right on top of it. -
ARCHIVED Abuelo's In Plano Texas
ohsotired replied to home-based-mom's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
home_based_mom - you'll be in my neck of the woods! Small world........ I've eaten at Abuelo's before (yummy!) but not in a gluten free capacity. I agree with Shay, I'd be calling the manager at one of the restaurants. Is there any way you can find out which one you're going to? If you need to do some gluten-free shopping while you're in town, head...
