  1. Catfish- Thanks for your suggestion. The wine trick may work.....looking at the list, Brandy or Champagne may make for some interesting flavors too. Kaiti- Thanks for linking the list. I'd forgotten we had one. Eww, you are so pretty. Bet your pale blue scarf and hat matches you eyes(?). Somewhere out there I bet there is a gluten-free beer...
  2. I realized that I shouldn't be eating one of my favorite things...Beer Can Chicken. For those who aren't familiar with it you take a chicken and prop it over a can of beer that's only 1/3 full, season the outside of the bird well, and grill for about 1-2 hrs. The can of beer heats from the coals and steams the bird from the inside. Since I'm not a beer...
  3. I forgot to ask this. Has anyone tried these: Open Original Shared Link "Chebe cinnamon roll-ups mix" Kandee
  4. Thanks Stacie, I did it like you said, and only saw the cinnamon bagels available on line, but I'll try it again. If I have to, will call them. In the meantime I think I'll just make a piece of cinnamon/sugar toast and pretend it's an ooy-gooey roll...LOL Kandee
  5. veggf, Would you mind walking us thru each and every little step and how you rolled them and cut them and got them to the pan. Also, just how stiff did you make the dough? Did you reduce the amount of liquid considerably? What untensils did you use, etc.? As you can tell, some of us really would like to have the success you've had. Thanks a million...
  6. Stacie, Thanks...I went to the Kinnikinnick link you supplied. You cannot order those mail order in either the USA or Canada, soooo unless you live near a health food store that carries them you are out of luck. But I'll bet they are good!!! Kandee
  7. Hey Luvs, I use the heavy duty stand mixer and commercial weight loaf pans too. That always works the best for me. The 2 times I made a gluten-free bread mix in my bread maker it turned out like a brick. I threw it out to the birds and it was so hard the ravens took a week to peck thru it.....honest! But you just gave me an idea to try...I think, when...
  8. Has anyone tried making them with any sort of success? Calling all the experts on this one... (I got off the subject a bit on the Mana From Anna post <sorry> so thought I'd start a new one. Both Catfish and Jessica said they hadn't had real success and so I'm wondering if it can even be done.) If you're anything like me, you are missing them...
  9. Luvs2eat, Wow, if it's that good I'm going to order some...I was a bit turned off when I went to their website because the picture they had of a loaf looked like it was sunken in the center.................and we all know how disappointing that is when it does that. Do you use their bread machine too? Kandee
  10. Thanks Jessica, I finally found the link last night. One question: Does anyone use their bread maker? It's a bit pricey but if it works good with those mixes, then why not. Also, does anyone get gas by the added bean flour in the mixes. I was using Bob's Red Mill, but had to quit because the OF the bean flour. Catfish, Thanks for the info on getting...
  11. Catfish, Wow, that was an interesting experiment..using spring roll wrappers....Sorry yours didn't turn out well. I'm wondering if you made the gluten-free dough stiffer with less added liquid then spread it out with on a greased surface, the added the filling goodies, then gently rolled it using wide spatulas..then cutting it quickly and transferring...
  12. Hmm, sounds good. Anyone have the link to their web site? And as rolls were mentioned, does anyone know how you would go about making traditional looking cinnamon rolls? Since all the gluten-free bread mixes come out unlike traditional gluten bread dough, you can't roll it out and add cinnamon/sugar/butter and then roll them up and cut them....or can...
  13. Deb, the only sub I can think of would be a reduced vegetable broth with some added instant coffee crystals for the dark color or maybe straight unsweetened cocoa.. I'm really curious since I've used Kitchen Bouquet for years and years..What is the ingredient in it that is gluten? Reading the label it doesn't appear as there is any in there, unless they...
  14. Oh, I so totally agree with Vote4Bush, especially on what to avoid and on the digestive enzymes and probiotics. I too, tested mildly high in 1 out of 3 tests, the IgA gliadin, and that was after being TOTALLY wheat free for 2 years, but not gluten free (big difference). Always knew I was wheat intolerant from blood test of the past (over 25 years) plus...
  15. Having both IBS and gluten intolerance (but not Celiac Disease) I can tell you that you sound like you have symptoms of either. If you haven't done it yet, do yourself a favor and get the simple blood test for celiac disease. It will be the easiest test you've ever taken and is very sensitive. If you follow the Rome II criteria for diagnosis of IBS then you...
  16. I'm headed to a nearby city this weekend where I knew hubby would want to eat at the Chick-fil-A so I got on line and found this: Open Original Shared Link Click over a particular item to the right to see the ingredients. (the text of the ingredient is in black not blue as a link would be) Unfortunately I'm sensitive to soy as well as high fructose...
  17. Tinkyada gets my vote, hands down. I just like saying the name....it's fun! In my house, when my husband says what are you having I say, "Tinkyada", never macaroni or spaghetti. He knows now exactly what I mean..LOL I learned about it from this board, thank you. I was never happy with the corn products, so gave up on pasta altogether until I found out...
  18. I recently went to my first celiac disease support group meeting and when the discussion of DH came up I asked how you knew if you had it. (I haven't had any blatant symptoms, only ones that could possibly be DH but could be something else again too.) I was told by a member (a ten year diagnosed celiac disease) that a dermatologist could, in fact, test you...
  19. Well, I actually had a pretty good experience with Red Lobster last time I was there. It was mainly because of my server. She was young but very bright and when I explained I wanted the baked sole WITHOUT seasonings because I suspected that their seasoning blend, (which looks like paprika) had wheat in it....without being asked to, she went back to the kitchen...
  20. Kenda, I've never heard of HMF Replete...will have to do a search on it. From what I understand VSL#3 is another fantastic probiotic but pricey. Thanks for mentioning.. I forgot to add I take probiotics and digestive enzymes every day, with at least one, maybe two meals (the biggest ones) a day. Thus I have no pains, nausea, gas or bloating. I switch around...
  21. Alliemat!!! I'm right in your area, AV and VV. Barstow had a fantastic meet last week. Wish you had been there. But I agree, it would be great to have one more local, especially since they would more than likely have to be in the evening (and who wants to drive the I-15 at night). Email me and maybe we can start something. Kandee
  22. I do aerobics 5-6 days a week (Jazzercise) and Yoga once a week and when I can a little yoga at home. But I need the motivation by an instructor (not to mention getting there to get my hard earned money's worth) by going to a class. I agree with the above..you need a qualified yoga teacher to start with to be able to get the positions right. Go easy though...
  23. I'm yet another peppermint "Altoid Junkie" and have a can of them everywhere. (Thank goodness Costco sells them in the multi pack.) I can't however, take peppermint caps or tea....creates GERD like crazy in me. I'm surprised no one has mentioned ginger for nausea. It is an herb people take for any motion sickness and as an alt. to prescription anti-nausea...
  24. I'm a bit odd in that I've been intolerant to wheat for over 25 years now (by old testing methods), but didn't come down with IBS until 2 years ago after a bout of using antibiotics and no probiotics to offset the damage it does to your gut. I was so sick with pain, and lost over 35 lbs. quickly. Everything I ate made me hurt..I had every test imaginable...
  25. Go to the about.com message boards on thyroid disease, Mary Shoman leads it and has written some very extensive articles and books on the subject, and constantly updates the web site with new research, including alt. medicine. There is a wealth of information there once you start following the links. Soy and peanuts have an estrogenic affect that can...
