I've been taking Chelation therapy for a good number of years now, but I'm older. I would not recommend it for a child with autism, or a child period. I have seen it do wonders for older people with heart problems, Alzheimer's and diabetes. I'm sorry I know nothing about licensing in England but if you decide to do this in the USA here is a good place...

ARCHIVED Hams For Easter
kactuskandee replied to jknnej's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm glad this subject was brought up. I just bought a Farmer John ham, cheap. I went right away and looked at the label, which was under the price tag, and it clearly stated soy sauce made with wheat. I'm taking it back!!! Kandee -

ARCHIVED Digestive Enzymes
kactuskandee replied to ebrbetty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Essential Enzymes by Source Naturals. I've had great luck with them. The only problem is they don't have a probiotic in with them. That you'd have to take separately. I get the largest size bottle through Vitacost.com. I've checked into Digest Gold and they look great but are pricey. Kandee -
ARCHIVED Easter Candy
kactuskandee replied to DragonQueen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It's the "buttered toast" flavor of Jelly Belly's.....that is not gluten free.....for obvious reasons. Kandee -

ARCHIVED Solution To Dry Bread
kactuskandee replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I put a slice (or 2) in a small zip close plastic bag and nuke in the microwave for a few seconds, 10 to 15 seconds depending on the number of slices, thickness and if it's been frozen or not. All microwaves are a little different so you have to get used to your own model. I do this with ALL gluten-free baked goods.....homemade or commercial. Since bread... -
ARCHIVED Coconut Flour
kactuskandee replied to GlutenFreeGirlie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Doing a Google search I only found the same ones Stephanie found. My guess is that it has a natural coconut flavor to it (like unprocessed coconut oil) and would be best used in baked goods that are meant to be sweet. I may be wrong but the only way to find out is to try some. I see it's being promoted as being low carb, but I forgot to check the fats... -
ARCHIVED I Love The Chebe Bread !
kactuskandee replied to AnnieMarie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You're very welcome Annie. I hope it works out well for you. When my friend first made it she put it in a pie pan, then cut it in wedges and put butter on it to eat. I don't know how it will work for rolls or buns so if you have any luck please post your results. I'm curious and I'm sure others are too. Kandee -

ARCHIVED How Can You Tell The Difference Between
kactuskandee replied to lorka150's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Merkita, It is my understanding that Almond Breeze does indeed have soy in it, but Pacific Brands Almond milk does not, however they don't make a chocolate version....I make my own chocolate syrup out of plain cocoa and sugar and a little water, or add an organic syrup to the almond milk that does not have soy in it. I find I'm even sensitive to soy lecithin... -
ARCHIVED Grinding Grains
kactuskandee replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I use a Vita Mix..............have for years..I'm on my second one..and not because the first one gave out, but because I'd had it for 8 years and my warranty ran out after 7.............but the warranty is something to behold............I've done stupid things that were my fault..and even told them so, and it was still covered..the company is awesome...BUT... -

ARCHIVED Italian Pastas Vs. Tinkyada
kactuskandee posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Anyone ever matched Tinkyada (my fav and a lot of other folks favorite here on the boards) against a gluten-free pasta/spaghetti made in Italy?.....called Senza Glutine, (I think that's what it's called... but correct me if I'm wrong) I have a friend going to Italy soon and I want to know if it's worth trying to convince her to bring me back some of their... -
Anyone of you great bakers out there ever tried to duplicate (to some extent) the Manna from Anna bread? Just curious...........I don't know what they do...but that stuff is sure good. I can't tell the difference between the DF and the non-DF. Also, anyone ever tried using Montino flour, which is in Manna from Anna, in your baking? If so, how much...

ARCHIVED Any Multivitamin's Gf?
kactuskandee replied to knvb78's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Nature's Life carries an array of individual vitamins that state on the label they are gluten-free. An easy one to take is the liquid vitamin by Symtec at Costco..it's gluten-free/DF/SF It never bothers me...and is sweet!!! You can also take gluten-free children's chewables...like the gummy variety, but the dosage is very low. It may be what a sensitive... -

ARCHIVED Low Blood Sodium (hyponatremia)
kactuskandee replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, yes. I too suffer from low serum sodium, even though I do salt my food. I've tested low now for about 3 years but have only gone strictly gluten-free for 1 1/2, and prior to that wheat free for over 25 years, after being diagnosed wheat allergic. I also noticed I'm low, but still within what is considered normal range in serum chloride. I was reading... -

ARCHIVED Proper Storage Of Flour
kactuskandee replied to Kenster61's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I keep BAY LEAVES in all my grains, both gluten-free and non-gluten-free. It works. The gluten-free flours I keep in the refrigerator, with a bay leaf or 2 in with them. It inhibits the larvae (which are already there in all grains) from hatching. I've done this for years and years..as long as I can remember....and.. I live in a warm climate. Kandee -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Hotdog&hamburger Buns?
kactuskandee replied to AnnieMarie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I use Chebe as well. I've just started to make the hot dog rolls...4 to a pkg, adding an extra t. of baking powder to make it rise a little more. I make them like large, hot dog length (for big hot dogs or sausages), bread sticks..bake and freeze individually...and take one out as I need it and slice it lengthwise down the middle but not all the way through... -
ARCHIVED Vegan (soy Free) Mac & Cheese
kactuskandee replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I would look for some Rice or Almond Cheese then mix it, melted, with Vance's Dari-Free beverage which is not sweet like Rice Dream or Almond Milk. Then I'd use my favorite pasta...Tinkyada, which is a lot of other people's fav on this board too. You may want to try different rice or nut based cheeses.....not all of them are good tasting. It's been so...
