ARCHIVED The Worst Canker Sore Outbreak Ever
mymagicalchild replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My husband and I, together, (he DOES NOT DO COMPUTERS) just read this entire topic and he's shocked by your experience. We are going to bed now. Kind of like "Sound of Music." Tomorrow I'll see if you are better. Gargle with tea tree oil. It cannot hurt. -
ARCHIVED Im New And Need Help!
mymagicalchild replied to .becki.'s topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi, Becki...it's really easy. HO HO HO. You must go cold turkey and eat NO PREPARED food until you educate your brain and your gut. (Your brain will be in denial. Your gut will tell you immediately when it's been bombarded.) That means you purchase all your food in its original form. That means you eat no fast food. That means you eat at no retaurants... -
ARCHIVED 3 Year Old Has Identity Crisis
mymagicalchild replied to shan's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
"Shan" obviously loves her daughter VERY MUCH. Read the above 2 quotes. I have never known a small child who needed to hear directly from a parent about a "major aversion." The little darlings have a wonderful 6th sense. Sometimes they figure things out wrong. SOMETIMES they get it just right!. -
ARCHIVED 3 Year Old Has Identity Crisis
mymagicalchild replied to shan's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Before our last family visit, our daughter and granddaughter took a micro-mini-vacation trip to a lovely beachy community in California, staying overnight with our daughter's long-time friend, her husband and 2 children. The girlfriends and the 3 kids spent their day beach-roaming (without the husband, who was working at a demanding job 30 miles away) and... -
ARCHIVED The Worst Canker Sore Outbreak Ever
mymagicalchild replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sounds like he's got a lot to lose. Also sounds like he "should know" what he "doesn't know." How are you doing? Is the Emergency Doc's treatment working? -
ARCHIVED The Worst Canker Sore Outbreak Ever
mymagicalchild replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This guy sounds dangerous. And the reaction of his receptionist to your complaints sounds like she knows it! I'm wondering if it would give you some relief from the outrage you must feel to complain to any administrators of hospitals where he might have staff privileges. Or check with the ER doc for suggestions about actions you might take. (He probably... -
ARCHIVED I'm A Weird Celiac - Gained Weight?
mymagicalchild replied to jparsick84's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Boy, do I connect with this topic. I was so skinny all my life! Now my husband smilingly calls me his baby whale. (Maybe that's a grimace, not a smile.) I know two things will tell me I am cured: I will have my thin, healthy body back and the arthritic inflammation in my fingers will be gone. One Can Dream! -
ARCHIVED High Fructose Corn Syrup - Gluten Free But . . . .
mymagicalchild replied to home-based-mom's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I just googled the subject because I remember a PBS program about the largest manufacturer of HFCS. PBS tried to gain access to the plant where it is manufactured and they were told it was a "top security installation": meaning NO ACCESS. It was either Cargill or ADM. Their claim of top security was, if memory serves, because HFCS is a necessary product... -
ARCHIVED The Worst Canker Sore Outbreak Ever
mymagicalchild replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I CANNOT believe you first posted on this awful problem yesterday and here you are with a solution! Double congratulations. Keep the tea tree oil in mind as a preventative. Can you cut the pain meds in half? -
I first joined this site before I understood its format. I used a "name" that is not appropriate. I want to eliminate that account, free-up the email address to use with this account name. Also, sometimes the topic posts are all exposed. I just scroll down to see each one. I like that format. Today, they are all compressed and I have to click on...

ARCHIVED Pregnant And Newly Diagnosed With Celiac
mymagicalchild replied to dcrobinett's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You are one incredibly lucky lady. You found the right allergist who diagnosed quickly and you found the right website. Congratulations on your pregnancy. There is a lot of information available here about conditions that result from gluten intolerance that has not been addressed. It's pretty serious stuff, so figure you're gluten-free for the rest... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Else Tried Humaworm?
mymagicalchild replied to Nancym's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
How did you get the brand name to print? I've recommended 2 products Brenda Watson puts out and the brand name is always kicked out. Her company is dedicated to intestinal health/detoxification and her fiber bars are the best I've found because they're 14 grams of gluten-free fiber. -
ARCHIVED Really Sad... Testing Update
mymagicalchild replied to jayhawkmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The only explanation I've uncovered that makes any sense to me is the the Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type research. The concepts in this book are general knowledge in Europe. And eating the foods that do not cause the "agglutination" process to occur with your blood type are adhered to there by a growing number of Europeans. If you say you are "allergic... -
ARCHIVED The Worst Canker Sore Outbreak Ever
mymagicalchild replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I must state my credentials to answer your question: None. I have always cured the horrible beasties with Australian tea tree oil. Directly on the sore full strength and then as a mouthwash. Use both constantly through the day until the bad beasties are gone. Usually a couple of days. I do believe they are caused by a virus. But I have no credentials... -
Castor, your third (and last) post sounds like a different person from the first 2 posts...like "You're mad as hell and you're not going to take it anymore!" Which is EXACTLY where I'd be. These "health care providers" are supposed to be providing health care. When did everything go so wrong? It all sounds like healthcare has gone big business, which...

ARCHIVED Upper Gi Endoscopy Negative, Could I Still Be Celiac?
mymagicalchild replied to leethinker's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The other side of the coin to not having a medical diagnosis of celiac disease is: you have no preexisting condition diagnosed that must be divulged (so coverage can be excluded) on any future health insurance applications. You've determined the cause of your problem by the cure you've found. You're your own medical doctor! -
ARCHIVED Family Doesn't Get It
mymagicalchild replied to cookiequeen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My Mom died of intestinal cancer in 2003. For the 15 years or so before that, she struggled with food allergies that were progressive and untreatable. She'd be told she was allergic to A but could eat B, until 2 weeks later when she was allergic to B but could eat C. Etc. Etc. She lost weight each year until she had gone from a beautiful woman weighing... -
ARCHIVED Very Discouraged
mymagicalchild replied to mm&j's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, you may add that thought, but "hopeless" is not good, MM&J. Not good at all. Which you already know. I'm confident one of the experts on this website is all set to give you some great advice and comfort. Your physical symptoms sound like a combination of problems, but your despair sounds like it comes from a woman with the world on her shoulders... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Hereditary?
mymagicalchild replied to mymagicalchild's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
What I forgot when I started the topic was: All three of my nephews had what their Mom (a nurse) called "an allergy their own poop," which manifested itself as a horrendous diaper ultra-rash which she couldn't cure. It lasted, you guessed it, until they were out of diapers. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Hereditary?
mymagicalchild posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I quoted from my "Prescriptions for Nutritional Healing" book on another "topic" and am curious about other folks' experiences. That book says Celiac disease is "...caused by a hereditary intolerance to gluten...." and "...it is known to affect mostly Caucasians of European descent." My nephew's wife is expecting their first child in early October... -
ARCHIVED Upper Gi Endoscopy Negative, Could I Still Be Celiac?
mymagicalchild replied to leethinker's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The doctor's statement that she didn't think it was Celiac disease but rather a food allergy made me scratch my head. I consulted my "Prescriptions for Nutritional Healing" book and under "Celiac Disease" it says: "Celiac disease (also called celiac sprue) is a chronic digestive disorder that is caused by a hereditary intolerance to gluten... -
ARCHIVED Mango Tart With Coconut Flour Crust
mymagicalchild replied to sickchick's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm going to print this one and head out to Whole Foods to get the fixings. The crust sounds like it would work for any pie. I'll produce a pie and get back to you with my scientific analysis: Is There Any Left? -
ARCHIVED Activated Silicon For Intestinal Repair?
mymagicalchild posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have been taking a liquid form of activated silicon for a number of years, specifically for its benefits in producing collagen in the body. The informational insert that comes with the product has changed over the years in very interesting ways as more studies are done. It now seems to be helpful to the body's building many "blocks," including bone... -
ARCHIVED Coconut Oil (candida Killer) In San Diego
mymagicalchild replied to mymagicalchild's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate the info. I didn't know anyone else knew the word "quercetin." I get the Activated Quercetin 'cause it's supposed to have more oomph! Or something. I bought a number of the cake mixes from the gluten-free site connected here. I can almost NOT WAIT for them to arrive because the thing I miss most is sweets with... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free And Getting Worse?
mymagicalchild replied to utahlaura's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi, Laura...What a pretty name! You are probably hearing as we speak from one of the experts who monitor this blog. And you should breathe a deep sigh of relief that you found your way here. It shows just how powerful you are. I had a major event in May of 2007. What I mean by that is: terrible illness, awful symptoms, emergency room at the hospital...
