ARCHIVED Possibly Allergic To Gluten Free Grains
wschmucks replied to Kenster61's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yep you sure could be. I'd try a test. Go grain free (easier then it sounds) for a while (at least 10 days) and then pile on the grains for about a week and see if you notice a difference. Whenever I do a test I make sure that when I am bringing the food back i eat A LOT of it otherwise im left in this ehhh not really sure area. Good luck. -
ARCHIVED Brain Fog Help Please...!
wschmucks replied to wschmucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Funny you mention the Premenipause...cause I havent had my period in 2 years. I'm 25 and the Dr treating me for the Thyroid tested my sex hormones and all of them were low: estrogen, testosterone, progestrone etc. so I am using a progestrone cream and estrogen cream for about the last 2 months. It hasnt really seemed to help though, so I'm not sure-- but... -
Hi everyone, I'll try to keep this as compact as possible. I have Celiac and have been gluten-free for 10 months and on the SCD for 6, I have not gotten gluttened in about 4 months (lentils manufactured in wheat plant). I also started thryoid medication for a very mild case of hypothyroid which after about 2 months seems to have cleared my SEVERE constipation...

ARCHIVED Some Help From Thyroid People
wschmucks replied to wschmucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Mushroom. My appointment was yesterday and the Dr wouldnt give me anything --saying the results are normal because the TSH is normal. From all of the data I have gathererd you have to find a Dr who agrees with the ideaology of treating T3 abnormalities-- which is not a common belief among Drs even though so many people have showed such improvements. So... -
ARCHIVED Some Help From Thyroid People
wschmucks replied to wschmucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I REALLY think this is my problem. i JUST moved the Paris and dont speak French very well. Does anyone know how I can find a Dr who will help me? I am trying to find any resources for a refferal etc. I have been told seeing that most endochronologists wont treat it because of the TSH being normal, any thoughts on finding the right Dr? -
ARCHIVED Some Help From Thyroid People
wschmucks replied to wschmucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease

ARCHIVED Sensitive To All Grains - Help!
wschmucks replied to jaknhk's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi I'm an SCD'er too! The fava bean flour is a no-go. There can be startches and other things added to it, so you will probably react to that too. Give the book a read, its small and really interesting. Bottom line is that our intestines are really over loaded because of the Celiac and havent been given time to heal because we keep giving it hard work to... -
After 2 years of chronic constipation, brain fog, chronic fatigue, weight gain and loss I just got back a thyroid panel. I have a family history and really fit all of the symptoms. The problem is that My TSH and T4 were "normal" but my T3 was really low. This points to the whole-- not converting T4 into T3 problem, which I know some Drs dont even really classify...

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
wschmucks replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I hope everyone is feeling better-- it seems like we have all kind of been in a slump physically. I havent been able to check the board for a few days, and its so funny how much we all have in common. After going through my Magnesium ordeal (was feeling much better--then ran out of magnesium--got MUCH worse), I decided that I would just start doing... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
wschmucks replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Well the Dr was interesting.... He didnt look at all of my medical records only the patholgy report and blood test for Celiac, where he says he doesnt think i have celiac because my problem is C not D. I said great! So then you know what I have!?....lol-- running blood tests and another stool sample, which is fine by me, I wanted a more thorough thyroid... -
Hey I have a question-- If i break open a probiotic capsel and sprinkle it in my yogurt will the bacteria still get there ok, or will it die?? The capsels have potato starch in it and I cannot eat starch. What do you think???
-
Mine was 20 and I wasnt eating very much gluten at that point. the blood tests are an indication...I followed up with endoscopy and was confirmed Celiac. You should have a biopsy to see what it looks like (dont got gluten free until AFTER the endoscopy-- you need the Celiac to be full blown and 100% present otherwise you might miss the diagnosis). Good luck

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
wschmucks replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks for all of your help and concern Ms Jan. I really appreciate it. I am on day 2 of the garlic routine and its going well. I have figured out that if I chop the garlic, cover it in honey, put on spoon and swallow-- its MUCH better than just chewing on the clove (silly me!). Today was "ok" Im splitting up my meals so I dont get too full. I had an idea... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
wschmucks replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks for the help Jan! I do know where that store is. The thing about the Citrate that has helped is that it isnt as easily absorbable, so when it isnt absorbed, it acts as a laxative. I think Chelate is more absorbable?? I'll do some research. But I did figure out that Oxilate is also very unabsorable, so I'll go back to all the pharmacies and see if they... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
wschmucks replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
So I ran out of my Magnesium Citrate last week, and thought I would be able to get it in France....NOPE. no one has it. I ordered in online but it will take a few weeks to get here. The day I stopped taking it I immediatley fell back into my old health pattern and have regressed almost completely. This is so diapointing. I went 2 days without a BM and then... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
wschmucks replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I second that on the fats/ oils. It really is recommended that you avoid them early on because they are hard to digest. Adding oil doesnt necessarily mean you will be giving your body what you need and therefore not loosing weight...make sense? I really do think it is important to start with stage #1 as Elaine said, it really isnt the true SCD without... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
wschmucks replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi Clersky, This diet takes 100% commitment for an extended amount of time before you get results. And you have to be absolutley fanatical about it. You need to start with the intro and then move very slowly up the scale. You dont have to eat just meat-- fish and chicken are in too. The first month you eat alot of eggs and meat, this made me feel worse... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)

Are we allowed to use caned coconut milk?? I didnt think we were? Also I got an email from Maryln the organizer of the Yahoo sent me a link about wine basically saying that most wines are OK unless it states it is sweet. It said that because of the fermentation process the sugar is converted to alcohol. That most red wines are fine, she posted a link too... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
wschmucks replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks for the help guys. I'll go back to the store and check it out today. I do speak a little french but have avoided talking to people if possible (I'll get over it I know..). The other night I messed up on the diet :-( I thought I had found french farmers cheese and I made cheese cake out of it-- my favorite. it came out a little watery but I had... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
wschmucks replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I would stop taking ALL supplements for the first month. You dont know what is in them and they might actually be part of the problem. You kind of have to strip yourself down and just live off of the food then start over by adding one thing at a time. Go to PecanBread.com, they outline steps for how to start the diet, nuts shouldnt be added for at least a... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
wschmucks replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
" I remember some talk back in the thread about Welch's grape juice becoming illegal because the formula changed, do you know anything about that?" I read that on the Yahoo groups for SCD but I remember it finishing out that it was ok to drink and I was drinking it too (just moved to France) before I left and it seemed fine. And it was great in the... -
ARCHIVED Mushrooms? Is There A Gluten Issue?
wschmucks replied to oceangirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you have issues with candida-- yeast over growth, mushrooms can cause you problems...maybe that could be why they are bothering you? -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
wschmucks replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I totally agree. I just turned 25 and was a my symptoms started my last semester in college and just got worse and worse, finally diagnosed Celiac 2 years later. I just tell people i dont eat out because of food allergies. It makes it easier than going through the whole story, which they might not even want to hear. And girls like a guy who can cook :-) My... -

Oh thanks so much! The raspberries worked out well and the cake was delicious. Sorry i havent written I just moved to Paris so I have been very busy (only here for 3 days now). The raspberries were great! I froze the cake and brought it with me on the plane and am still enjoying it :-) Also a side note. We ate dinner at Ruth's Chris steakhouse and they... -
ARCHIVED Year And A Half And Still Not Better.
wschmucks replied to mcole's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
SO frustrating. I havent been diagnosed that long, but feel like i havent progressed either. Have you tried the SCDiet? Alot of people have had luck with it, it sounds really hard, but when its for your health it is easy and worth it. I have C and have been on the diet only 6 weeks and have noticed changes, but am not better. The only reason i agreed to do...
