I have a new favorite breakfast! Its kinda like a banana buritto. Get a corn tortilla (or rice), warm it up, spread peanut butter/ almond butter on it, put a banana in the center and sprinkle some rasins on it and roll it up! Its so good, healthy, quick, and easy on to take on the run. I like to heat up the banana too! So its alittle mushy.

ARCHIVED Different Reactions From Different Gluten Sources...
wschmucks replied to wschmucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for responding guys! I thought i was going crazy. I also had the metalic taste in my mouth! My Dr actually had me do a test for heavy metals in my blood when i mentioned it. All of your symptoms really hit home, its nice to know that when i get craby, anxious etc. not to be too hard on myself-- Im not a bad person, just a Celiac who got glutened. ... -
I was just at the Celiac Specialist and he noted that one me too! I have always had fingers like that, my sister used to make fun of me when we were little because hers are so pretty. Another confirmation that I've always had active Celiac and jsut didnt have noticable outward symptoms.

ARCHIVED Different Reactions From Different Gluten Sources...
wschmucks posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Everyone. I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is a higher gluten content in wheat, rye or barley? Meaning: will some people react worse to being glutened by barley as opposed to wheat? The last few times I have been glutened it was from barley flavoring and my symptoms weren't very strong. I was wondering if my body is just changing and... -
ARCHIVED Getting Less Sensetive?...
wschmucks replied to wschmucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ask and you shall receive! So I got glutened last night by Nestel's butter scoth chips. I forgot to read the lablel (Grrrr). I ate about 10 of them then said "crap! the label" and there it was very well disclosed by nestle "natural flavors (from barley)". I give them an A+ for disclosing all sources of gluten. So then I cried... and I CAN feel it now... -
ARCHIVED Trader Joe's Banana Waffles
wschmucks replied to wschmucks's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That makes me nervouse though. Remeber that Whole Foods article that revealed that thier lables stating "good manufacturing processes..." were completely false and several people had serious reactions to their products. You have absolutley no garentee that they arent manufacturing their items exactly the same as any other non-gluten-free company. It just... -
Agreed-- I didnt mean that a food allergy test would offer a diagnosis for Celiac, but this could just be a food allergy-- an area that should be covered considering his symptoms. These were suggestions to other problems that might be present. Same with the stool sample, parasite and infection need to be ruled out. Although both can give a Dr reasons to...

When i get glutened its hard for me to eat anything. The foods that do work well for me are buckwheat or quinoa oat meal (This is a life saver) , plain fruits and veggies and I make smoothies at home with rice protein powder to make sure i get enough protein. Some times I will have to beo on a smoothie diet for a few days before I can even think food is desirable...

ARCHIVED Getting Less Sensetive?...
wschmucks replied to wschmucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was diagnosed with the blood pannel and the endoscopy. I'm not sure that it would be enough time for the anti bodies to go down though (just under 3 months). Not sure. I thought, and would kinda of hope that I would get more sensetive...maybe i'm getting better at it? Anyone else have thoughts? -
I felt the SAME way with my boyfriend. He cant understand how devistating this can be and how hard it is to get through the first few months. The only thing I can suggest is to talk to him about how hard it is for you. But I also think that you might need to look for the support from people who can truley sympathize (US!). Just think if you didnt even know...

Hey guys! This Tuesday I will be 3 months Gluten free :-) The first month and a half was not good. ARCHIVED Trader Joe's Banana Waffles
wschmucks replied to wschmucks's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Has anyone reacted poorly to them? I have eaten buckwheat and other gluten free waffles and really enjoyed them. I am not very sensetive, but regarless of my outward symptoms arent we supose to avoid Gluten at all costs, even if we dont feel it hurting us?? I mean it's a waffle-- I don't need to harm my health (even if i dont feel it) for a waffle. If... -
OR if you've ever used BBQ sauce on the grill-- that could contaminate it too. Give the grill a VERY good cleaning and dont use ANY sauces or bread on it again. The first month and a half i glutened myself at least once every 10 days. Im about to hit 3 months and i havent gotten glutened in over a month. You'll get it-- there is just so much to learn so...

wschmucks replied to gail's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/lofivers...php/t53661.html I checked on the Swanson's broth and posted on Dec 11, 2008 all Swanson's chicken broth is gluten-free, but the Prego and Pace is NOT gluten-free any more. The string is above, there is a very detailed list. -
ARCHIVED Trader Joe's Banana Waffles
wschmucks posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey guys! I was so excited to find gluten free banana waffles at trader joes. I got up this morning ready to make them and did my standard glance at the back-- just to be safe, and WHAM! "processed on the SAME equipment as eggs, soy, and WHEAT". How are they allowed to lable it "Gluten Free" on the front when there is no way it does not have cross contamination... -
ARCHIVED Autolyzed Yeast
wschmucks replied to gail's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know that swanson's beerf broth has gluten in it-- but I'm pretty sure their chicken and vegetable broth is ok. The only ingredient i wasn't 100% sure of was the Autolyzed Yeast. I wanted to comment on the above post, that Yeast Extract can absolutley have gluten in it as some forms are derived from Brewer's yeast, which means it would have gluten. ... -
ARCHIVED Autolyzed Yeast
wschmucks replied to gail's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Guys! OK this is my understanding: Yeast extract can be made from Barley- so I would avoid it or call the company to find the source. Autolyzed Yeast Extract I'm not sure if it CAN have gluten in it...but i know that it is included in alot of gluten free products. So it doesnt mean NO. I know that is not very helpful, but its better than nothing. It... -
ARCHIVED Food Intolerance Testing
wschmucks replied to byebyegluten's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had a test that was given to me through my natropathic Dr. I want to have another one done and am no longer seeing that Dr. I have an appointment with my GI tomorrow and am going to request another test. The original test I had done was with a company called Immuno Labratories. I had the IgG Standard Food Sensetivity Assay. They test for next to everything... -
You should get a food allergy test. If it was gluten you would feel a big difference even within a week. I also suffered from constipation with Celiac, and didnt notice major changes with it for a few months after going gluten free. But I did feel SOOOO much better after going gluten-free. Go to the Dr and go through the necessary tests. Stomach issues can...

Hi Guys, I have suffered from chronic constipation for the past 2 years now and is what lead to my diagnosis. I have been gluten free for 2 months now and have seen very mild improvements in my constipation but some good improvements in other areas. I still have to take amitizaand use other laxatives (Dr approved etc-- not addicted to laxatives or anything...

ARCHIVED 365 Brand Pumpkin
wschmucks replied to runnerkat's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Whole foods hasnt had good press around their products labeled as having good segregation practices. But their gluten free food has not come into question and I actually just made some of their chocolate chip cookies. I also used their pumpkin this Christmas and haven't felt sick. I do not eat their food that has the labels "in same factory...but with good... -
ARCHIVED Name Brand Gluten Free Foods, And Questions About Lactose Intolerance
wschmucks replied to crayola's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Not sure if you are talking about the powder nesquick you add to milk-- but last time i checked (few weeks ago) that has gluten in it. I think it had malt, might be wrong but make sure to check it out. For chocolate milk, I just use soy milk, Herseys pure bitter sweet coco and some sugar. It tastes great and no gluten any where. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free One Month And Have Questions
wschmucks replied to robomet's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello! I have similar symptoms. I gained weight for about 2 years (now i yo, yo) and still am bloated after every single meal and feel gassy (only 2 months gluten-free). Did the Dr do a stool sample on you? Have them run a stool sample to check your flora levels and to see if you have any bacterial infections. Also have them do a blood test for any food... -
I am 2 months in to gluten-free and I totally thought the same thing...and then i started paying attention to what i did after i washed my hair, put lotion on etc. I will put lotion on my face then floss my teeth (hand in mouth= gluten in mouth), then I'll play with my hair or run in through my fingers then put a piece of gum in my mouth..(hands touch hair...
