ARCHIVED "ark Naturals" Pet Products
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are no gluten ingredients in the product itself, only plant oils. I am concerned about CC. -
ARCHIVED "ark Naturals" Pet Products
raisin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ark Naturals products (specifically Neem pet shampoo) is the only new item introduced into my home my 100% gluten-free home.. That, and I started eating cooked onions (possible allergen??) * Please note before posting : I am extremly sensitive to trace amounts of gluten, and I washed my pet in our kitchen sink. I washed her once a week ago when... -
ARCHIVED Pharmacy Not Celiac-friendly
raisin replied to OBXMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Saying it should be illegal.. is so many kinds of unrealistic. The entire issue is about legality, already. The fact is, companies do get sued of ridiculous things they have no personal control over, on a regular basis. It's a realistic liability. If you want to complain about how screwed up the system is.. You may want to point the finger at the root... -
ARCHIVED Sunscreen / Sunblock
raisin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have skin reactions to said items (gluten, dairy, soy, rice, olive) and have been having a impossible time finding sun screen..!! Does anyone know of a dedicated gluten-free sun block that may be (or is) free of these other items? -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Kosher Meats?
raisin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was kosher all my childhood and teen years.. and now all the meats I've been able to find (only two brands - Blackwing & The Buffalo Guys; or fresh stuff from a meat market) are not kosher, just organic. While arguably similar, kosher and organic meats are distinctly different.. Really I'd love a brand that is both. -
ARCHIVED 20+ Food Intolerances...help?!
raisin replied to takeme out todinner's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I also cannot eat the fallowing you listed : wheat/gluten, milk, beans, peas, soy, grapefruit, pineapple, nuts, yeast, rice, melon, oats, salmon, aspartame, sesame, asparagus, carrots. Plus no olives, nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers), tangerines/tangelos, alfalfa, red/vidalia onions, bananas, kiwis, strawberries; maybe broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower... -
After eliminating every other item I formally consumed multiple times daily, from coffee to apples, I realized I was getting an hour to two hour long stomach ache (dyspepsia/nausea/lightheadeness) every time I ate foods cooked in olive oil. Starting immediately after consumption. My face started breaking out pretty bad after I ironically switched to olive...

ARCHIVED Acne Treatment/wash/pads?
raisin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Is there such a product in existence?? Any time I accidentally consume any of the listed allergens, or touch them usually, I break out. No one likes to break out, only to be able to even wash it with specialized soap. I emailed neutrogina (clean and clear) asking about their products in general, and specified 5 items, by name and item number.. they emailed... -
ARCHIVED Chrone's & Celiac? Or Ulscers?
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
First, it was very comforting to hear that neither of those chronic (and rather scary) conditions would likely apply to me. I also really couldn't see it being a bug, based on how long my symptoms had lasted. I will at least talk to my doctor about thyroid, but because my general blood tests always shout "100% normal and healthy and every way," they told... -
Deodorant/antiperspirant
raisin replied to mac3's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a large number of allergies, along with skin (and "normal") gluten reactions. I also had pretty bad reactions to every "normal" antiperspirant and deodorant i tried. First, I tried the Savonnerie one, and of course like all Sav products it is safe.. but powders are not so good for just everyone, as it gets on your cloths. I didn't like it, so I... -
I'm kind of freaking out. In 2 weeks I will have my medical records, but not officially have insurance for another full month (If I really rush it, maybe 3 weeks), and just want some information or peace of mind to hold me off until I can get formal testing done. For reference, I am age 19 and female. I feel fine in the morning, and in the evening/night...

ARCHIVED gluten-free, Rice-free, Soy-free Cat Food
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wow thanks for all the info. It just occurred to me.. I also need to ask about cat litter. Any ideas there? -
ARCHIVED gluten-free, Rice-free, Soy-free Cat Food
raisin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know of a type of cat food that is gluten-free, Soy-free, and Rice-free? -
Actually, I find people to assume I am stuck-up and difficult when I reject food offered. They take much less offense if they know I just can't. Like, today I went over to someone's house for an Easter lunch, and she was nice enough to make a separate salad and main coarse just for me. I ate the meal but skipped the salad, saying I couldn't eat tomatoes...

ARCHIVED Other Than Wheat, Rye, Or Barley
raisin replied to skluever's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If his main problem right now is DH.. he is simply not gluten-free. DH is not a reaction to just any allergy, it's an autoimmune reaction to gluten. Now if it's not DH, but contact dermatitis or eczema, then looking for other allergens is the right idea. I don't know if it would help, but my process of recovery/food-removal (finally feeling good this... -
ARCHIVED What Is With All The "look Out For Gluten In ~ Insert Toiletry Item~"
raisin replied to mattathayde's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No burtz bees products are dedicated. SoftLips brand is 100% gluten, dairy, and soy-free, but I have yet to find any other brands. I just ended up having to do most of my art digitally (not the same, but not horrible), sense I also have skin reactions to gluten and rice. For metal and glass work.. As far as I know gluten isn't an issue. I do a little... -
ARCHIVED What Is With All The "look Out For Gluten In ~ Insert Toiletry Item~"
raisin replied to mattathayde's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
For me, it isn't a matter of "products that contain gluten" - but finding the products made on a gluten-free line. I can't speak for anyone else, but it was extremely hard for me to find dedicated gluten-free paper products, soaps, chap-stick(especially), shampoo, dish soap, laundry detergent, etc. Even harder to find ones that also didn't contain my... -
ARCHIVED Help/guidance From Some Experienced Celiacs! Please!
raisin replied to LandonL's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can say, being diagnosed at only age 18, I had the same thought. "I had symptoms sense I was 4 years old.. I've been eating poison for 12 years!" But the fact is.. It doesn't matter how long you ate it for, as long as your not already to the point of having cance or any of the other conditions. In fact, I was starting to become anemic and diabetic before... -
ARCHIVED Corn Thins
raisin replied to Roda's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
On that note, as super sensitive celiac, I only get sick from Cornthins sometimes - meaning they do a pretty good job of managing gluten CC, and anyone less sensitive should be safe. But, I am not sensitive enough to soy or rice CC to comment on that. -
ARCHIVED Is There Anything Pre-packaged I Can Eat?
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I eat a lot of apples, grapes, and rasp/black-berries, some tomato, watermelon, pomegranate, and nectarine, and can tolerate sweet oranges, but don't go near citrus, pineapple, straw/blue-berry, banana, kiwis, dates, coconut, or peaches. Fruits I haven't really tried (but now think of) are.. Starfruit, avocado, honeydew, cantaloupe, horned melon, plums,... -
ARCHIVED Corn Thins
raisin replied to Roda's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
While tasty, three warnings I feel the need to share, I researched after getting sick off these suckers : Rice, Gluten, Soy CC Sensitive celiacs : know the company makes one product with barley. (theoretically on different equipment but in the same area.) Legume or Soy allergy : Some products contain soy, the rest are produced on the same equipment... -
Thank you both. It's great to hear both from someone who gave up coffee and was able to have it again, and a fellow artist. Very encouraging. And from someone on the caveman diet - I've been there. But I have to say, being sensitive does not help my art. In fact, rice gives me horrible hand dermatitis that makes it burn when I move my hands..! The rest...

ARCHIVED What Is With All The "look Out For Gluten In ~ Insert Toiletry Item~"
raisin replied to mattathayde's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The actual level of threat is different for different people. You will find the two extremes : the ones who believe avoiding non-food gluten is unnecessary and/or gives celiacs a bad presentation to others - And the ones (like myself) who get very sick from so much as using a little lotion/soap/shampoo containing even oats or wheat grass. The definition... -
ARCHIVED Is There Anything Pre-packaged I Can Eat?
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I sometimes eat "Buffalo Guys" brand buffalo jerky - But Tillamook Country Smoker doesn't seem to be dedicated gluten-free, and I'm very sensitive to CC. I am unsure about quinoa (have yet to actually try it) but I think buckwheat is okay? I just got a big cup of V8, after reading the ingredients, and finding out it is dedicated gluten-free. I am intolerant... -

I'm not a fan of chocolate, so that's fine. In fact, I'm probably not allergic, just won't eat it to be on the safe side. I will also be careful with those mixes, thanks for the heads up! I also avoid all 8 allergens. But have some hope for fish/shellfish in the future, and eggs are only a minor allergen for me.
