My diet is so clean of hidden glutens they could use me as the poster child for "fanatical gluten-free living" Sadly.. that wasn't the cause of my skin problems. Well.. at least not most of them. After Nantzie's posts I started looking into, and thinking about my symptoms over time. I did find a topical allergen causing my eczema, along with other...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Henna
raisin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
A lot of people talk about and have tried henna here, as an alternative to hair dye, but I searched, and there was no specific thread for henna product reviews. Many pre-made henna products have hidden additives, so I am hesitant to pick one to try without the input of fellow celiacs. Which brand have you tried and how was your experience (+were they... -
ARCHIVED Need Dish & Hand Soap Urgently!
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oh I forgot to mention.. Their soaps are coconut-free, but don't directly state it in that list. Oops. They also list the fallowing on each main soap product page : * SOY FREE * CORN FREE * COCONUT FREE * NUT FREE * DERIVATIVE FREE * DEA FREE * ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY * TEA FREE * SLS AND SLES FREE... -
ARCHIVED Corn Chex Is Now gluten-free!
raisin replied to cruelshoes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was about to get really excited, but then I read the ingredients: "Non-fat milk" and "Soy". That actually makes a pretty decent number of celiacs unable to eat it. Shame. A few other ingredients worthy of highlighting for the multi-sensitive. "fructose" and "sugar", "peanut oil", "Colors", "BHT" (chemical preservative), and the obvious, corn and... -
ARCHIVED Need Dish & Hand Soap Urgently!
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Aah I suspected as much. After removing all direct coconut products from my life, I started reacting to the Palmolive (which I strongly suspect uses palm oil.) My stomach is upset, again, and my hands burned when I did the dishes, again. When it comes to crafts.. I can handle nothing involving mixing or stove-tops. My significant other is the chef, and... -
ARCHIVED Need Dish & Hand Soap Urgently!
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you so much!! I have been on the phone and emailing companies for days now, and the companies couldn't even name an organic detergent source other than coconut. This includes allergen-avoidance companies like Kirkman Labs/Kleen, and Nutribiotics (though they were very helpful and told me some hidden sources of coconut). Online, the only recipees... -
ARCHIVED Dairy?
raisin replied to Lexi's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Personally, I have a problem with both, and enzymes aren't enough to resolve it. It's not just casein vs lactose, but allergy vs intolerance. I went from "just allergic" to "also intolerant" and thought it was the same thing. Took lactose enzymes. It resolved the cramping, gas, and bloating.. but left an upset stomach, irritated skin and sinuses, moodiness... -
ARCHIVED Medication
raisin replied to SGWhiskers's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is the first I have even heard of there being classifications of types of celiac patients, so I don't know if I officially relate there. But I can say I experience exactly the same thing. When shopping, I hide my nose and mouth in my cloths and hold my breath as much as possible when going near a bakery section. I can't sit next to someone eating... -
ARCHIVED Make Your Own Hair Color?
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For me, gray hair is not an issue, being only 19 with normal hair, I just hate my natural color (as it fades between red and black depending on my health or the amount of sunlight I get) I just want it to stay one color or the other and avoid that ugly bland "brown" middle groun. An herbal rinse to use regularly with shampoo, or anything like that, would... -
ARCHIVED Corn Chex Is Now gluten-free!

Have they made any statement as to whether their gluten-free cereals will be produced on a sterile/gluten-free line, or continue to be produced with the regular cereal? -
ARCHIVED Need Dish & Hand Soap Urgently!
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Aah man. It took some major internet researching of the weird chemical names.. But I found the offending ingredient in the shampoo. "Like many surfactants, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate is originally derived from coconut." Open Original Shared Link - Savonnerie's company didn't even know that was coconut, and the staff member I spoke to was a nurse... -

Can't you make black by adding coffee, sage, or violet? Maybe I was given the wrong information. -
ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals
raisin replied to MNBeth's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love Everyday Minerals. It's the first affordable makeup (organic or otherwise) I haven't had reactions to. However, I only use two items. "Multi-tasking" concealer, for acne/post-acne-mark coverup, and I often need it near by nose, but it has never gotten in my nose. I am a punk and use the black eyeliner heavily, but also find it never gets into... -
ARCHIVED Need Dish & Hand Soap Urgently!
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I seem to be fine with the dish soap.. but now my shampoo is making me sick. Yes, that's right, the shampoo I was not previously reacting too. I had stomach problems today right after showering (again) once after I wasn't sure I rinsed my hands well enough before eating an apple, my skin burns and gets pink/red spots all along the backs, and my face started... -
Haven't there been about a zillion medical reports claiming all of those can be classically related to celiac disease, as well as claiming that DH is exclusively caused by gluten..? Even the link you provided lists the treatment as "gluten-free diet." It sounds to me like you just want to argue semantics, considering everything else you have said. But...

ARCHIVED Testing Rice
raisin replied to caek-is-a-lie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Lunburg's plain rice has never made me sick.. and everything makes em sick. It says "gluten free" on the bags, and the company is dedicated gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Time To Play "name That Gluten"
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the advice ocean girl. Rice is only a problem if I try to pig out on it. I can have at least 1 serving with no issues even on more sensitive days, though. Probably, my body is just used to it, because my family ate more rice than bread when I was a child. I am also removing everything listed (except coffee) from my diet despite the below statement... -
3 things. 1. I already explained what I meant in that phrase you defensively took out of context, though you conveniently didn't quote that part. I've repeatedly stated that I never said sensitivity levels relate to autoimmune reaction levels. 2. I have been glutened by touching a surface that another person had touched after handling a wheat product...

It doesn't contain that, but it has Leavening, and Cellulose Gum (I don't know what those are?) -
ARCHIVED Need Dish & Hand Soap Urgently!
raisin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I need to find a safe soap & dish wash liquid ASAP. It must be dedicated gluten-free with no chance of even the smallest CC. Is Palmolive produced on a dedicated line? Their dish-washing liquids are supposedly all gluten-free, and work as hand soap.. but It's friday night and I cant not wash my hands for a whole weekend while I wait to... -
I read the ingredients, and it turns out there is Coconut in Sav's hand soap, but not the shampoo! Common allergen, and apparently I'm allergic.
-
If you mean, by abnormal numbers, that your still scoring high on the anti-gluten-blood things.. You aren't doing the diet right for you. What is right for someone else, may not be enough for you. Have you explored other potential allergies? (would not effect your gluten scores, but could effect your hair) cross-contamination either directly in what you...

On gluten, I get extremely paranoid and neurotic.. on top of the negative moods, nightmares, anxiety, sleep problems, etc. I see things out of the corners of my eyes, and become ridiculously impulsive. I've learned not to talk to people if I have been glutened for an extended period of time, i just get too weird. I read that certain vitamin deficiencies...
-
Excuse me but when did I say you can have gluten without being poisoned? I said different people have different tolerances levels - that statement applying to both symptoms and autoimmune responses. You seem to have taken that example completely out of context. If it isn't constant contact, or a significant amount, the chances of it showing up in a blood...

Before being diagnosed with celiac I genuinely thought I was a mental case. I found out later, some of the common celiac-related vitamin deficiencies (even before officially "low" levels are hit) can mess with your head in a dramatic way. I was labeled ADD and I was constantly paranoid at everyone and everything, very stressed, and very impulsive. Even...
